Good job. It's hard to make yourself do something when you really don't want to, but once you do you're glad you did it.

Your post makes me think about last night when I was cooking, trying not to be late for church, and having to deal with other stuff, too. I was having to do all this meal prep for the next day and thinking, "I have all this to do and so little time" but then I said to myself, "Wait a minute. You can't get out of this. You can't give up. You're in the plane now. This is a takeoff and the momentum is already forward and you've got to be part of it" so I went on ahead and got the cooking and preparing done. Sure, it's more hassle than the old days when I ate junk food and Wendy's hamburgers and didn't have to plan ahead and all...but if I'm going to have the body I want and the mental attitude I want, there is no way except straight ahead for me...and no looking back. I feel a lot better physically now and I don't really want to go back. I'm looking forward to how I am going to look and feel at the end of this Challenge. We can make it. I believe that. If Julie Witt could, we can, too.

May I ask what is the difference? I am living overseas in Germany and the AAFES sports store on the military post did not have any flax seed oil in stock so I went to the commissary and they had "milled flax seed" that looked like flour, but if you mix it with water, you can use it instead of oil in recipes. Now, I was curious, is this the same thing as the oil? Cuz I bought it but am unsure how to use it! Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (2225 posts) at 12:43 PM
Hmmmm, that is definately interesting. When you mix it with water what is the consistency like? It sounds like ground flax seed. The first thing that came to my mind was to mix it into your oatmeal or something & use olive oil in recipes (but that just what I thought). If it works I don't see what the harm would be and you're still getting the benefit of flax seed oil.

The latest studies out say to take 4 grams per day of pills that are 80% CLA. (This was in the last Fitness Rx magazine.) I am using it along with all kinds of other stuff. I started it midway thru my first challenge, and I am taking because of what I read. I haven't seen any huge improvements w\ weight loss since I started, and I definitely have plenty to loose.

Relacore is great. When i take it, it calms me, does help with bloating it seems, and it is a mood enhancer for my hubby.
Put it this way. I was having postpartum whe my son turned 8 months. Got on an antidepressant , Cymbalta. It was a wonder drug. But when the samples ran out 3 months later, and the script was $130/mo. I said holy cow do I really need this? I started taking relacore. 3 months later=no drugs, happiness and I am way better!

Oh i forgot to mention, I replaced the Cymbalta with Relacore. Not a drug by no means, but it does have great properties to it.

Thermo DynamX is a very mild fat burner, if you want to see maximum results you should take something with ephedrine, caffiene and asprin in the ingredients. I have heard that the ban on ephedrine has been lifted but the major store (gnc, vitamin shoppe and world) are hesitant on carrying it. You can find it online.

I'm new at the hobby (as of early last summer), but we do have a 10 gallon tank w/ 2 neon tetras, an algae eater, and a Mama red platy and her 6 babies (who are now about half the size of Mama). We had a black molly who died after giving birth to some HUGE fry (all dead), and a silver lyre tailed molly who didn't make it through the first night, and two other tetras and an african frog who all three disappeared without a trace on separate nights. It's been an interesting and eventful several months! Now that the tank is properly cycled, it NEVER gets cloudy or icky...and it's been forever since I've cleaned it good! I only wish I had a 40 gallon or larger tank! I love watchin' them leetle feeshies!

I got up yesterday morning, early, feeling like crap. I let the dogs out at about 6am, ate & went back to bed. I got back up about 8, and trudged along.. Over the next few hours I made about 15 trips to the bathroom. I had every intention of doing almost nothing today EXCEPT cleaning the entire house. It's not that big a job, I can easily tackle everything in about 4 hours. Didn't happen. Betwen trips to the crapper and involuntary naps in the recliner, I got nothing done all day. I had a vet appointment to take Remo (My new rescue/foster) in to the vet at 4:40, and that shouldn't take long( he just needed an eval and vaccines) Should be home by 6 and I can get it done later.
SO we get halfway to the vet & I realize that I don't have my phone.. No biggie, I've forgotten it before. When I got there the vet was behind, because a dog had been broght in that was hit by a car. No problem, this is routine.
SO anyway, Remo came to me as an owner surrender on Friday. He was 'skiddish' and MIGHT have snapped at someone in the past, but I was not confident with all the info I was getting, and I wanted to see if we could help him. I figured we'd get him on anti-anxiety meds, similar to one my dogs, and he'd be ready to go in about a month.
We get into the room about 5:45, and Remo's finally calmed down a bit, although he's still panting, he's at least not shaking anymore. The vet tech gave him a cookie, which he reluctantly took, then spit back out. Then it happened. She started to back away, and he snapped at her and continued to growl. I knew then, what we unfortunately needed to do.
THe Dr. came in & we talked abit about his history, and I mentioned the attempt at biting Cindy, and told him that as much as it sucked, I felt like we (the rescue) couldn't take the liability for him and that he would have to be put down. He agreed, noting that in his mind, "No dog should ever bite a person ever under any circumstances or for any reeason at any time." And while I was glad he agreed, it didn't make it suck any less.
This made me really wish I had remembered my phone, because I have no photos of Remo, and now, I never will. I have the worlds greatest veterinarian. He cried right along with me as he was injecting the pink juice. Not many vets will show that much emotion or compassion for an animal that would have liked to take his face off only moments before.
Once I got home, I was in no state to clean jack shit. I had a message waiting, but I wanted to find my cell so I could call Nicole (the other co-director of the rescue) to let her know, plus a couple of other people that would understand..
I couldn't friggin find it. I called it, and heard NOTHING. I figured I left it outside or in my office, but I could not find it anywhere.
Then I realized that that the toilet was clogged & was like "That shit only happens on TV". But it still wouldn't flush. The seal needed to be replaced anyway, and I happen to have an extra toilet in the barn, so...
I smashed the sucker. It wasn't as dramatic as it sounds, I just wish I had my camera. it was right exactly in the first spot that I whacked, and plopped out immediately. I was actually happy to see it there, because I would have been REALLY pissed if I broke my friggin toilet for nothing.
Oh, and that call that was blinking when I got home? It was from Cheryl Muhr. I can't believe how long we talked. Actually, we ended up on 2 different calls because her cell died the first time.. but like 3 hours later, we're still yakking like old school chums. I may have to put a hit out on her husband, that lucky bastard.
As cheesy as it sounds, it really did made the day not nearly as awful as it could have been.
Body for Life Forum Message by crone (562 posts) at 11:37 AM

Have tried BFL on and off for the past year. I have always made fitness a part of my life. I have run 3 marathons, done countless other road races and have done strength training for almost 15 years. I had a stroke on December 26th last year, the day before my third child was born (we were hospital mates for a while). I have vowed to remain healthy and active to insure that I am a good father and role model for all of my children(now 9, 6 & 1). However, it seems as though as soon as I begin to workout I become injured, (back spasms, pulled muscles, etc) and go on the DL. Has anyone else experienced this? I was always one of those "never sick a day in his life" types. This is quite frustrating. I have continued at an unacceptable level of fitness, but can't seem to stay healthy enough to train. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike
I'm new here, but I thought I'd ask you if maybe you are expecting too much of yourself? Are you an all or nothing type of individual? Maybe you need to re-evaluate your goals and set some according to the person you are now and not who you used to be. Just a thought. I'm sorry you're so frustrated. Hang in there and do what you can.

Back spasms I've had. I've damaged both hips it seems (I used to be a figure skater so falls have caused the damage). This started in my late 20's sometimes its been bad other times not so bad. I thought exercise would help - it used to but not anymore. The only thing that helps is I can feel it starting up a bit & I immediately take ibuprofen or sometimes a strong anti-inflammatory.
The pulled muscles automatically make me think way over training or improper form - have you considered this a possibility????? I'd take a good look at this. As an example, me doing deadlifts. I felt a slight twinge in my lower back and I knew oh, oh something wrong with form so I stopped immediately. Performing deadlifts incorrectly is an accident/injury waiting to happen. This is all JMO.
The burning question is why you would have a stroke at your age? Of course I'm so very interested because I'm going to be the same very soon. Is this something I can look forward to????? EEEEK. I don't know the first thing about what would cause a stroke (a weakness in the vessels?) I know anyone can have one but assumed that was more of an issue with the elderly.
Body for Life Forum Message by stepor (45 posts) at 01:36 PM
I agree with Wanna, ;-)
When I've done this before I've always jumped in with all I had and made sure I hit those 10s and more. But I would quickly end up with back spasms, pulled muscles, tendonitis... This time I took karate for an extended time and walked 2 miles every noon for two months before starting to develop some basic conditioning and flexibility. I am a bit past the point where I would normally get sick and hurt so something has changed for me.
Try coming on slower, plan to start 110% a month out and do other things to prepare. Flexibility training, aerobics, light weights, whatever to get your body conditioned for pounding on it... But you should start the eating now!
Steve

Raising children from birth is very interesting and instructional. I married my wife when her son was 12 years old and my little brother in the Big Brother Big Sister program was also 12 when we became friends for life. So, I never had the opportunity to experience raising kids from birth until I was in my 40’s and boy, I still have a lot to learn. Last night. I learned a very important lesson about 2 year olds, and what not to let them ever, ever do again.
I was holding my daughter and she was facing me, and we were talking and laughing. She proceeded to take her little hands and touch my lips. I was thinking, “Oh, she is continuing her learning by touching my face, etc. Oh, look, she is seeing how pliable my lower lip is...” OWWWWWWW!!!! In a flash, so quick I was unable to think and reacted by yelling “OWWWWWWWWW”, or at least what I think was “OWWWWWWWWW”, as I could not talk. She had put all 10 fingers inside my lower lip, and was pulling down with all her might!!! I could not use my hands to get her fingers off because I was holding her. And, with her pulling down, she was pulling out of my arms and I was trying not to drop her. With my screaming “OWWWWWW” very loudly, she started to cry and scream loudly, inches from my ears, but she would not let go! Finally, my wife came running in to see what the commotion was all about and finally got her hands off my lower lip! It is funny now but at that moment and for the rest of the night, my lip was sore. Her little finger nails were cutting into the inside of my lip, plus being stretched downward for what seemed like an eternity. She finally stopped crying after being held by my wife.
The things you learn about raising kids, and what not to let them do, and what to watch out for……

I didn't freeze mine, but I brought them to school, took them out of the foil cups, and microwaved them for 30 seconds, which was good for unfrozen ones.

Just to give a different option. I make this all the time and use a few shortcuts due to my busy schedule.
1 pkg(10oz) frozen Spinach or Chopped Broccoli
1 small carton of Southwestern or Garden Vegetable Egg Beaters
3/4 cup low fat shredded chedder cheese
I microwave the spinach/broccoli, drain and place all in a 9x13 pan then bake for 20 minutes at 400. My husband and I love this.

It may be a matter of personal preference but I believe the free day is essential, and definitely not detrimental to your progress.
Some people may like to do cardio on a free day, and if thats what they want to do, then thats fine, as it's their free day! Personally I like to eat a few unauthorised foods and have a beer.
As someone who has completed BFL twice previously with great results, and enjoyed my free day both times, I guess I just want to say that if you are new to the program and feeling guilty about overeating on the free day then don't be! Remember...it's what you do most of the time, not some of the time, that will determine your results.

I agree with eSteve... Free Day is great but in my opinion, it can sabotage all of your hard work.... oh yes, only "One Day" can hurt your entire week's progress.
So, enjoy your free day, but in moderation. Don't eat the "entire pie".
Free Day is essential but again, even free day must remain in "control".
Many of you may dissagree with me, but I tested it. Free Day was killing my progress, especially the last 5 to 10 lbs.
Body for Life Forum Message by nutz (135 posts) at 06:43 AM
The free day sabotaged my results, too. I didn't appreciate the physiological reason for the free day. Once I educated myself and took the emotional part out of it, I learned to treat the free day as an important part of the process of controlling my metabolism and not as an emotional fix. It's a challenge each and every Saturday and sometimes I fail...badly.
Pay attention to your body (and mind) and adjust accordingly.

I say the important thing to remember about free day is to eat the foods that you enjoy, But be sensible!!!!! And stay away from any trigger foods (any foods that might cause you to binge).

I know I pigged out on my free days to the point where I would go to bed feeling sick. During the week though I was perfect. I rarely cheated and I only missed a few workouts during my challenge. That's what worked for me. I needed to go crazy on my free day. I think my results would have been better if I didn't, but I don't think I would have stuck with the program.

Great post, Roe! :o)
I need free day. I couldn't stick to BFL without it. When I started C1 almost a year ago, I decided to do those first 12-weeks exactly by the book, including an all-out freeday. It helped me psychologically, and physically. I didn't cheat or skip workouts because I knew I had one day where I didn't have to follow the BFL rules.
I don't think there is a hard and fast rule either way. Free day is great for some, and not so good for others. But if free day works for you and you enjoy it, keep it up and don't feel guilty.

I marinate mine in a cuban marinade called Mojo Criollo. I can't find it here in Nevada but an old friend from TX sends me a jug every few months. It's delicious with fish, chicken, and pork tenderloin! And best of all, fat free and doesn't add hardly any calories either. Anything you marinate in it remains moist and juicy.

sounds yummy and way more exciting than what I eat! I vary a bit on the lunch and the dinner, but other than that, it's pretty much the same every day. Thank goodness for the free day! However, I'm not bored with my meals, it feels like I'm fueling my body now, not just eating "just because". And it's boring, but easy for me to plan and execute! You should come live with me and do the cooking! LOL!

So, this weekend I made homemade chili for lunches this week... and for the life of me I have no idea how to break down the nutritional information....
The ingredients were as follows (this is my secret recipe! bah!!)
1 lb ground lamb
Gobs of chili spices, cumin, oregano, paprika, cayenne, salt
1 small can tomato sauce
2 cans stewed tomatoes
1 can corn
2 cans kidney beans (1 can pink, 1 can red)
1 fresh, chopped jalepeno
1 fresh, chopped scotch bonnet
1 fresh chopped onion
1 bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale (shame on me!!!)
I eat about a cup's worth at lunch =)
Any idea how I can get a break down on this?
Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (2225 posts) at 01:13 PM
Your recipe is pretty close to mine except I use a few types of beans (kidney, black, romano, blackeyed peas, pinto - whatever the grocery store has) they're basically the same amount of calories/carbs/protein. Also I use a good amount of lean ground turkey. The best I can do is fitday.com so I did yours the same way I do mine based on your ground lamb - this is just an estimate; I used .5 cups meat, .35 c beans, .15 c tomatoes. Here's the breakdown:
CAL: 464, FAT: 44%, CARBS: 29%, PROT: 27%. Mine is high in calories too but the ground turkey brings the fat down a bit.
Any help?
Body for Life Forum Message by Scattergold (14 posts) at 01:41 PM
Thanks that is a HUGE help!
So did you just put all the ingredients into fitday individually and add it up manually? I couldnt find anything to create a food with ingredients...
but thanks! this is a HUGE help! So that is one serving? WOW!
Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (2225 posts) at 03:11 PM
Where it says "add custom" food there's a heading for "new custom food". It will save it for you so its a good idea to add foods you eat everyday so you don't have to go searching all the time. I haven't created one for chili. I've got cooked tomatoe sauce in there but I search for "turkey, ground" and the beans. So I add the beans, meat, tomatoe sauce individually as an estimate.

ok- I make a big pot of soup on monday for the week and package it up- my little one loves it but is it close enough to BFL?
boil a big pot of low sodium chicken broth ( to taste)
throw in a 1lb chub of lean ground turkey ( throw it in frozen and the boiling liquid will sheet it off in pieces)
Add a package of mixed veggies
2 cups of instant brown rice
spices to taste
Maskes about 10 servings- very filling...is it ok?
thanks

I have done BFL in the past about two years ago. I have recently been doing the workout but this is my first real week on the program with eating right for Challengeg 2. During challenge one though I never took photos or kept track of that stuff (which sucks now because it can't help me). All I know is when I did the first challenge I had to buy all new clothing because mine did not fit me at all. Now however I have plenty of things that I can't currently get into:( I would't say I am not sore at all but very little. Although yesterday I did a couple different things with the upper body and it seems to have made a differnce. i just want to make sure I doing everything right. And yes the very first week of the workout I did hurt like hell.
Body for Life Forum Message by Tomcat1066 (118 posts) at 08:40 AM
Ok, if you felt pain then I find no need to hate you ;)
Also, just keep in mind that as you get more used to working out, your soreness will decrease, so it's nothing to worry about. Just focus on your intensity during the workout and just take what happens after as it may come ;)

I can not seem to get a good burn in my bicep. Anyone have an awesome routine to share? I get to the point that I can not do the range of motion, but it does not feel like failure.
Body for Life Forum Message by fitnesscrazedmom (36 posts) at 03:01 PM
Maybe you are putting emphasis in your elbow if your range of motion is at its limit but no burn in the bicep? have you tried concentrated curls, where you stablilize your upper arm, it really puts more emphasis on the bicep.
Body for Life Forum Message by Pixy (386 posts) at 03:09 PM
Ya that is the one that I feel I can not do anymore, but do not feel I worked hard enough.
Body for Life Forum Message by Muscle Head (24 posts) at 03:24 PM
I really like dumbell curls on an incline bench.
Body for Life Forum Message by T~N~T (1130 posts) at 03:41 PM
Those are my favorites too MHead lol. You can do curls but continually keep the bicep flexed hard. So griping the dumbbell as hard as you possibly can at all times and slow on the negative. ;-)
Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (2225 posts) at 04:10 PM
Another one I found challenging is "serves". Hold dumbbells, elbows bent at your sides and serve like you would a tray of drinks. Gets the whole arm but biceps from a different angle.
Body for Life Forum Message by chantal2bfit (24 posts) at 04:28 PM
I like bicep curls on the cable machine, using either the bars (straight or curved) or the rope. I always get a good burn.
Regular bicep curls, if using heavy enough weights, gives me a good burn also. Instead of the last set of 12, I sometimes do what they call the "21" (found out from Shape magazine). You do 7 reps curls to just half-way up, 7 reps curls from half-way up to all the way up, then 7 reps curls with the full range of motion. If you do it slow, you will definitely feel the burn.
Body for Life Forum Message by Pixy (386 posts) at 05:35 PM
Flower can you explain that range of motion, sorry I don't get it.
I will be trying the incline guys I will let ya know how that one goes. Thanks
Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (2225 posts) at 07:04 PM
Think of holding a large tray, palms up, but you have dumbbells in your hand. Your elbows are at your waist and you "serve" the tray out slowly away from your body and bring it back in (elbows back at your waist). Like serving a large tray of drinks to someone else. Does that make any sense?
They say waitresses have the best biceps; te, he.
Body for Life Forum Message by Pixy (386 posts) at 07:11 PM
OMG my sister has the best biceps I am doing thet one. Wow just thought she got the arms in our whirl of genes. We are twins but she has that awesome peak to her bicep.
Body for Life Forum Message by TJ (607 posts) at 07:33 PM
21’s really do give you a good burn. I did them for awhile then switched to the following:
Standing Cable Curls (using cable crossover): 2 sets of 12 & 2 sets of 10
Alternating Dumbbell Hammer Curls: 3 sets of 12
Standing E-Z Curl: 3 sets of 12
Alternating Dumbbell Curls: 3 sets of 10 or 12
This sure does get a burn in my arms! Hopefully, it’ll cook yours, too.

Hello all,
Just started the BFL Challenge with my wife. We are exercising in our home. We have dumbbells and a bench and a . My wife has lower back problems and is hesitant to attempt dumbbell pullovers until she's strengthened her back. Can anyone recommend some back exercises?
Thanks,
GDU61
Body for Life Forum Message by Nicabod (76 posts) at 06:17 PM
The triceps exercise? Have her lie on her back on the bench and do them. She'll lower the weight to the bench above her head and then raise the weight straight over her, making sure to use her triceps, not her shoulders. Does that make sense?
Body for Life Forum Message by GDU61 (4 posts) at 08:06 PM
Nicabod,
On page 149 of BFL, Dumbbell Pullovers are listed as a back exercise.
Is that an error? I thought of having her lie on the bench to do this exercise, but I thought that would not exercise her back muscles.
Not sure,

Oops. Sorry. I didn't know the stomach enlarged after gastric bypass. I'm not judging him for gaining the weight back since that is very understandable (i.e. I've done it). I just thought it was impossible for the body to process that much food after the procedure.
I guess no matter what, proper eating habits and regular exercise are truly the only way to maintain a healthy body composition.

I have to agree with Tcstone. I don't care how people get thier butts on the bandwagon just so long as they do. The health of the country is more important than who came up with the idea.
Al has some food issues. He may want to rethink his Rooker(sp) on the road program that he has. Since it has him touring around the country eating all sorts of stuff. You need a healthy mind to go allong with your healthy body;)

I just watched this morning's segment (home recovering from a sore throat, dammit!!!). Al lost 5 pounds from last week's weigh in.
This morning Jorge Cruise took him through a typical day's worth of meals, or basically a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner with three snacks. The snacks were probably lower fat than Al is used to, but they were not the best nonetheless. Stuff like baked potato chips, pretzels, and chocolate. Sadly, Al ignored all the plates of yummy foods like breakfast wraps and dives into the snacks. HE WAS STILL EATING A PEPPERMINT PATTY when he stepped up to the scale for his week's weigh in. That right there is what's wrong - his mind doesn't seem to be totally into it.
Let me be clear - I applaud Al for trying to lose his weight. I really hope he loses 20 pounds in 10 weeks, but there's so much more that's needed to ensure real success.

Hi Rochelle,
I was diagnosed with RA just after finishing nursing school in 2005. It's been a struggle and I've still not managed to maintain a regular workout schedule due to the inability to hold weights in my hands on some days. I have good days, where it's like I don't even have RA, and others where it's a chore just to get out of bed. I am muddling my way through and have managed to lose 12lbs since the beginning of November, even without the regular workouts. Eating healthy seems to help with the disease and so does getting enough sleep (hard for me since I work 12 hour shifts from 7pm to 7am).
It can be done and I've learned that my workouts and keeping a healthy diet actually help my RA. I am taking Celebrex (200mg/day) and will probably starting something like Enbrel, Humira, or Remicade in the coming months. I'm only 32, so this was a big blow to me, who never has been hospitalized or gotten severely ill. I've always been in pretty good health and I've had to struggle, both mentally and physically with this disease. It has one of the highest rates of disability and depression in those who have RA. I know why after living with it for the past 8 months. Nothing is more depressing than your mind wanting to get out and do things, but your body won't cooperate.
The only advice I can offer for now is to make sure to start a regimen of mediciation to prevent the disease from progressing, maintain a healthy diet, and get in regular workouts with plenty of sleep. On the days when my hands won't cooperate to hold weights, I will hop onto the elliptical and get in some cardio.
Good luck to your family member!

My co-worker has RA, and she says Pilates really helps her. She's pretty bad off, but she doesn't really take care of herself, as you do Melanie. I think she'd have more good days if she would take care of her health in other areas. Good luck to you both.

You did awesome too. I AM pleased with my results. I don't think I could have done any better even if I had been more prepared. However, I know that I can't expect to see that kind of loss each week. I remind myself that the body can only lose 1-2 pounds of body fat per week. So, I know that part of my loss was water.
Either way, I am happy, motivated and am charging ahead.
Keep up the good work,

Re: Help on my eating schedule Please
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
well the plan doesn't work for me, I tried
I went to bed at 11pm
I woke up at 7am and took my pill and went back to sleep til 8am
got up at 8 and drank my coffee, and put myself together, before I knew it it 's 9am and I'm hungry.
So I had 2 options,
!. Eat and then go work out
2. don't eat, just leave and go to the gym, today is wt day since I got off schedule with the holidays
if I leave right this minute, I would get to the club by (:30, even if I get a quickie worout and then tan in the tannning bed I wouldn't be home til noon and I feel it's stupid to stay in that fasting state for that long.
I realize I am just not the type of person that can wake up early and jump out of bed and do a workout.
I have to slowly wake up , drink coffee and get my body working
So I have decided this,
On cardio days only , I will do it, I will get up early and just do my cardio at home on an empty stomach
but on wt days, I'll do as I been doing
It works for me, so if it an't broke why am I trying to fix it, lol
I am doing wonderful as I say, veryhappy with my results, ,just thought I could GET*HER*DONE a litttle better,
however, I am reading alot and come to this conclusion.
cardio on an empty stomach, the purpose is because you have rid your body of all carbs during the resting/fasting state/(SLEEP) so when you exercise on an empty stomach you burn fat not just glouse.
In aerobics we leanred that too, the 1st 20 min you are burning just glouse, then the next 20 min targets the fat.
however, if I eat, take my time and get myself fired up for my workout, then when it is almost time for my next meal, I workout, I am still buring the fat because my body has already digested all the carbs. then after the workout, I drive home, take a bath and time to eat, I actually did the same thing but in my own time in my pace.
Everyone is different. so do what works for you
I've lost 51 lbs and 15% BF so I must be doing something right!!
So today I had a blanced shake 20 carbs /20 protien for meal 1 with coffee at 9am

coco, My Thyoid was really wacko, that was the dr's words, he said he was surprised I wasn't heavier then 200 lbs at that time, my exercise was actually keeping me from gaining more, I take Levthyroxine (L)+(S) 0.75 mg One tablet in the morning on completely empty stomach and then don't eat anything except water for at least 1 hr after taking Linda
Ps. The Dr did say just like what I was saying in post above, if I forget to take it, I can take it 3 to 4 hrs after a meal and then don't eat again for at least 1 hr

ok just my two cents.
I like this site becuase it uses more mesaurments to get your overall body fat. Now, I have tried every web calculator for body fat that is out there... and so far for me this site has been the most consistent in results. But even with doing that I have to review the directions of where they want the measurements...

Ok so I just took all my measurements exactly the way they told me and it said I was 24.83% when my calipers, my Omron AND the Navy site all said 28%. Big difference. I would love to be that low but I'm not. Hmmmm.....

Please, please, feel free to refer to my profile anytime you hear the usual "but I've been doing this for X weeks and it's not working!". I even admit to saying those words, and it was michiganmike who set me straight (Thanks Mike!).
I had a GREAT free day yesterday, eating lots of things I had to pass up over the holidays, like chocolate and champagne and pizza and popcorn.
I found that the free day yesterday was just a reminder that I WANT to work out. I WANT to eat right. I see the first challenge as simply a reprogramming for the mind. Stick with it and great things will happen! It's really true! Best wishes to the newbies!!!

When you get the urge to slip, pull up that picture. I actually posted mine on the refrigerator the last time I lost 80 lbs and it really helped me avoid giving in to cravings. This time around, I haven't even developed the picture yet. But, I have old ones that are pretty similar so I can look at those to remind myself of what I will not go back to. I have been there too many times. Enough is enough!
Great job in having the courage to take the step in posting your pics.

Good luck with your challenge.

Courtney,
One thing I notice is that you are not allowing yourself a free day. Its really important to take your free day: first, it allows you to eat the things you want to! 12 weeks is a long time to go without giving yourself a break at all. Second, it tells your body...hey, we're not going to eat turkey and salad all the time...we're going to eat lots today. Then your body goes crazy and ratchets up your metabolism.
If you're worried about going "too far" or feel like its going to be too much, be like me and do a free meal. And eat it at a restaurant so you don't keep the bad food lingering in the house. Just a thought!
Best,
Robin

Robin,
I loose my first 10/15 pounds VERY fast and am only keeping the free days away for a short amount of time I am getting a free meal when I loose 15 pounds. I am allowed a free snack every Sunday until then but not a free meal until I loose 15 pounds and not a free day until I loose 35 pounds. I have to learn disapline one step at a time and this is the only way I see it working this time. I go over board on freedays and gain back the weight I have worked so hard to get rid of and then quit. So I have to set strong boundries this trip or it will end like my other 5 or 6 attempts at BFL.
Thank you so much for your reply to my post I will keep what you said in mind if it does not seem to be working the way I have planned.

Body for Life Forum Message by Reagiesmom (413 posts) at 09:05 AM
I do this all the time because it is easier for me to get to the gym once for a long period of time as opposed to on 2 consecutive days. I have had good results, but I don't know if they'd be better if I did it exactly as he says to. But what I do is better than nothing and it assures that I do every workout...
Body for Life Forum Message by Joe (a.k.a. Onyx) (123 posts) at 09:15 AM
Well, personally I do my cardio everyday (6 out of 7 days per week), then mix in my weight training. Why, becuase I need to burn fat, period. While I want to kick up my metabolism, I believe that the extra cardio helps me to burn fat. From what I have read (and yes I have seen that other BFL champs do this as well), by adding extra cardio, your giving you body that kick it needs to help for example to get over a plataeu. This isn't your direct question I know, but there is plenty of proof out there in the Bodybuilding world to back up what I say.
Now when it comes to the workouts, due to my personal life, I can't always get to the gym first thing in the morning, so what I do is I try to time my workouts during the end of my eating gap for that day, so yes I am not at the 8 hour fasting stage, but as close as I can be if I can't get to the gym in the morning. I usually do UBWO, then Cardio or Cardio then LBWO, so I don't kill myself.
I feel it is important to find what works for you while still keeping the principles of BFL.
Of course this is just my opinion.
Joe
Body for Life Forum Message by chantal2bfit (24 posts) at 10:33 AM
I've done it before to make up a missed workout. Personally, I don't advise it unless it is absolutely necessary. My legs always pay the price the next day.
I too do additional cardio during my LBWO. However, I only do moderate cardio such as walking on an incline or the rower.
If you still want to do HIIT and LBWO on the same day, try to do them at different times (ie: cardio in the morning and LBWO at night).
Body for Life Forum Message by chantal2bfit (24 posts) at 10:36 AM
Sorry I misread. I thought you said LBWO. Duh!
Anyways, I think UBWO and HIIT on the same day is not as bad.

Thought I would post this in case anyone else encounters the same problem:
If, like me yesterday, you excitedly hoped onto the scale to see how well you had done and found, like me, that you hadn't lost an ounce.... Don't give it up!!
I ate cleaner than cleaner, lifted and ran so hard - it just didn't show up on the scale. I DID however lose body fat, inches since last week (I am just starting week 3).
The scale is not always the nicest friend and it does not take into account PMS issues, water retention etc.
I know I feel great and I will keep working hard and hopefully see something next week.
If there is anyone else out there like me - I am with you all the way!! I want my BFL! :)
Body for Life Forum Message by ocpanther65 (257 posts) at 09:48 AM

EXACTLY! The scale is a good tool to be used over time and among other tools, but there are so many better ways to guage progress: the way you feel, the way your clothes fit, etc.
Way to go on all your hard work!
Body for Life Forum Message by chantal2bfit (24 posts) at 10:56 AM
I hate the scale! I do not even own one. On my last challenge, I didn't even look at the scale until the very end. I just went by how my clothes fit. People used to ask me how much weight I lost and I couldn't even tell them.
It felt like Christmas, to wake up one morning and realize that your pants are falling off!
Congratulations by the way! Can't wait to see your progress on week 12! Keep chuggin!
Body for Life Forum Message by VegasGuy (96 posts) at 11:11 AM
For me I find that the best time to weigh myself (if I absolutlely have to) is first thing in the morning on my free day before I eat or drink anything. If you have your free day on sunday, and weigh yourself on monday, you're not going to get an accurate weight (if there even is such a thing). Your body will likely be retaining a lot more water on monday due to the foods you had on your free day. Especially if you had any salty foods (which most unauthorized foods are vey high in) or alcohol.
Stay Strong,
Chris

Well today is day 365 from starting BFL; I've never ever followed any type of diet/exercise program for this amount of time so I hope its safe to say I've formed a habit. No I didn't have the results I wanted after 12 weeks but I've definately made some improvements and made some good solid gains - I think I'm just a little slower than I'd hoped but still who cares as long as you keep making progress right?
I'm following basically the same principals but have switched up the weightlifting part and haven't decided if & when I'll go back to the weights as per BFL. Was going to do pictures in the same bathing suit I wore in the before pictures but I can't do that #1 because when I put that thing on I look at myself and see the same old "before" person (yes psychological) and #2 I have this pesky little "condition" & don't want to do that today so maybe by the weekend.
Here's to another year................

Hi guys
I just want to know what you guys think. I have a really bad skin, acne atc. Have been on medication since I was 16 now 26 but it is not working at all anymore (I have been on everything). I am now seeing a Homeopath and basicly have to treat the damage the medicine and my hormomes has done for the last ten years.
Now this is my question I have read up on it and my Docter has confirmed that excercise and weighlifting is making my skin twice as bad as it is because it helps speed up the process that the body gets rid of the toxins through the skin. He says I have to choose becuase exersice is really good but is not helping my skin look good at this time.
I don't know what to do. And are pretty sulking right know. I have to eat really healthy foods now, even freeday which is great but are worried that if I don't do weight lifting and loose weight I am going to have loose skin. I have interviews in the future and lets be honest apperience counts. Any suggestions?
Body for Life Forum Message by nola (45 posts) at 10:32 AM
I could be completely wrong here, but I would think that any process that speeds up the process that the body gets rid of toxins would HELP.
Are you using protein supplements? I remember reading on an acne board (don't remember which one) that whey protein can cause problems for some people. When I was younger and had the most trouble with breakouts, I always found that sweating helped my skin a lot, but ONLY if I was working out totally barefaced and cleaned my skin immediately afterwards. These days I tend to go to the gym wearing makeup and I find that I break out more because I am lazy/busy about washing my face after my workout. I know better....
Another thing I remember reading was that certain vitamin supplements (if they are new) can cause problems...vitamin pills have all kinds of OTHER ingredients in them that can be acne triggers for some.
Oh and another thing...I get AWFUL breakouts on my face if I wipe my face with the brown paper towels that the gym provides. Something in those things immediately irritates my skin. Took me a while to figure that one out, but I am certain of it now. I either bring my own towel or just drip!
I just have to doubt advice that says working out is BAD for your skin. That just sounds ridiculous to me. I'd look deeper into your diet and supplements...
Good luck,
Eileen
Body for Life Forum Message by chantal2bfit (24 posts) at 10:45 AM
I agree with nola.
Wash your face constantly and use some moisturizer. Also, try to use some exfoliant once or twice a week. This helps slough off the dead skin which could clog your pores.
Personally, my skin has never looked better since doing BFL. I think it's all the water and the clean eating.
Good luck!
Body for Life Forum Message by VegasGuy (96 posts) at 11:24 AM
You said that you have tried everything, so I assume that means you have tried ProActive (the stuff on TV). I had a roommate who had very severe acne that cleared up almost immmediately after he started using ProActive. I have never used it, but it apparently is great stuff.
If you are looking for a more natural treatment, I would suggest first to do a full body cleanse (you can buy a 7 day cleanse at GNC) including a Candida Cleanse which gets rid of toxic yeast in the intestines. All of this is done orally with herbal supplements (so don't get scared...lol).
The next thing to do would be to drink as much water (and only water) as you can. At LEAST 10 8oz glasses a day, but more is better.
Lastly, I do not know much about fat cleanses, but if you have a significant amount of weight to lose you might want to look into that as well. Since toxins are stored in fat, you will continue to have problems as you are dropping the weight. That's a good thing though, because you're getting rid of them, but it my be a while before you reap the rewards. I believe that a full body fat cleanse will help eliminate those toxins.
Hope this helps,
Chris

Just one quick thought... have you tried spironolactone? Look it up on the web (with the word acne - as it has other uses). At 23 I had been on everything including accutane, and had nothing work.. an acne specialist recommended this and 4 weeks later my skin was perfect. It's specifically for women our age who have hormonally induced acne.. and I swear it's a miracle drug. Most doctors aren't familiar with using it for acne - but *seriously* check it out.
Body for Life Forum Message by crazyblonde78 (266 posts) at 11:53 AM
I have to second the ProActive. I've never had acne, but when I was pregnant and up until htis very day, I suffered from breakouts ALL the time. It was the ONLY thing that took care of it!! I am now down to using it maybe 2-3 times a month. It is one of the best things since sliced bread! You may want to give it a try!
best of luck!
xoxo Karen

Maybe the increased protein is also hard on your skin?
I might suggest seeing a different doctor. I know doctors, dermatologists and aesthetiticans (and homeopaths) all seem to have different opinions on what food does to your face and skin.
It might be that something you're eating could be exacerbating the situation? If you have health insurance, take advantage of it and ask a couple different doctors. Regardless, I wouldn't give up on BFL just yet. But what a dilemma1 good luck.

Have you by chance tried NOT taking anything? Do a cleanse, and see if your body can clean your skin on its own?
Body for Life Forum Message by hb9252 (Ellen) (25 posts) at 03:36 PM
I had acne pretty bad in my 20's, but when I did BFL the first few times, I noticed was how great my skin and hair and nails looked! I attributed it to improved circulation, more water intake, fewer chemicals in my system, and better quality of food.
I would make sure to GENTLY wash my skin immediately (or as quickly as possible) after workouts, and taking whatever meds (tetracycline, cleocin, emycin, whatever) the doctor prescribes.
I agree with whoever said to talk to another doctor. If for no other reason than a second opinion is ALWAYS a good idea! Besides, I'd be skeptical of ANY doctor who advised me NOT to workout!!
Body for Life Forum Message by meski85 (1 posts) at 03:44 PM
I have also had my skin get worse with workouts. I was very frustrated for a while, but then I found that if I wash my face in the morning before working out (gently and following with a light moisturizer with acne medicine in it like benzoyl peroxide) and then immediately after my workout I use a face cleansing cloth (like Biore cloths with salycylic acid), my breakouts happen much less frequently. Keep excercising, whatever you do, because you need to flush those toxins and keep your muscle mass! Good luck!

I'm assuming you've done oral contraceptives... that's what cleared my problems up. I got adult acne when I hit 30 and they put me on the pill... and it worked like a charm. Another thing, my son has battled with acne and finished accutane a year ago. I don't agree with the diagnosis on choosing between exercise and a clear face. You can have both. I would recommend a true dermatologist, not just a family doctor. I'm not sure if you've gone that route. But, we spent years on every kind of medication (including overdosing on Vit. B5, ProActive, etc)... nothing worked until he did Accutane. For me, it was the pill. There is an answer out there.
I agree with the others... lots of water is imperative!
Body for Life Forum Message by leankat (5 posts) at 05:44 PM
I don't think it is the workouts that are the problem, maybe contributing to it in someway, but not the source. Do you exercise with make up on? The makeup can trap bacteria against the skin when you sweat this gets worse, so try cleansing your face gently before your workout. Food sensitivites or allergies can really wreak havoc with your complexion. I can't have any wheat or gluten containing products. Did this advice come from a dermatologist?
Also, You may want to try an elimination diet to see if that helps (talk to your doctor or a nutritionist). Also, have you tried a Retin A cream? It can usually be very effective, but if all the cleansing, diet and Retin A don't work, you may need something like Accutane. Doctors are reluctant to prescribe it because some people can have severe side effects on it, and you CANNOT get pregnant while you are taking it as it causes severe birth defects. Good luck!

WOW! Okay, so I am REALLY outta shape! I did my HIIT this AM and what was once my 7 is now my 10 (((cries)))) Anywho, I had not been getting that tingling burning sensation for quite sometime while I was running and today my ENTIRE body felt burning (even my ankles, but especially my booty...yeah)!
What is this tingling...I like to think of it as fat burning off my body, but I don't think that's it? Any ideas what it is?

I believe it is poor circulation. I have the same thing but I get it everytime I do cardio. It gets better the better shape I am in but for me it never has gone away. It makes me all red and itchy when I am done and I find that if I itch it at all it makes it worse. It gets worse the harder I work too. It won't hurt you though! I have had it my whole life!

I get a tingeling and burning everytime I do an extended cardio session...but only in my feet because all of the blood going there when I am standing/running/eliptical. I have never had it all over my body, unless what you are talking about is what is known as 'runners high' ~ which is awesome, and I get it everytime with the BFL cardio routine! Is that it??
:)
Body for Life Forum Message by nikki (90 posts) at 10:58 AM
It makes sense that it is poor circulation, because it seems like when I am in better shape it is not as prominent. It burned and itched like a S.O.B. this morning...I love it though!
I do get that runners high, but it is different...it's more like a warm senseation all over rather than a burn, itch in-your-face sensation.

I just purchased a "magic bullet" blender/chopper. You can get them online, but I found mine at Kohls, around $55.00 (and $46 if you wait for a 15% off coupon). I have to have ice with my protein shakes and it works so much better than the blender, and you can blend it right in the cup you drink from. Just wanted to pass that along in case anyone was considering one.
Body for Life Forum Message by nikki (90 posts) at 11:51 AM
I have one too! I love it! It does so much more than protein shakes too!
Try it with ice, cottage cheese and your favorite fruit! Yummy!

Body for Life Forum Message by fitnesscrazedmom (36 posts) at 12:51 PM
I LOVED MINE TOO, made the pancake batter perfect, and the protein shakes right in the cups. I lived by that thing in my first challenge... and then....... the dreadful........my movers LOST IT!!! Yes, they lost my magic bullet alogn wtih my good pots, last minute stuff, but my magic bullet. That's what I was the maddest about. So I bought a Osterizer 4125 6 Piece Kitchen Center, Chrome. I must say I love this machine also and it does bigger tougher jobs which magic bullet could not handle. I do miss the magic bullet for shakes and smoothes though and small batches of pancakes. I think I may buy another one and keep it at work for my afternoon snakes so they are fresh.

Am I too late? Will I be penalized for starting on Jan 9 instead of January 2? Or do I have to wait and start Feb 13?

I started full fledged yesterday, I signed up for the challenge via the BFL web site but am not sure it went through.
Does anyone have a fitness tracking program suggestion for my PDA? I live by that thing and I think it would help me out tremendously.
Thank you and I hope to talk to you soon,

Hi All! I have been reading alot of posts but haven't posted much myself (feeling embarrassed about the first post I wrote I guess!) Anyway, I know there has been alot written about this topic but I thought I would put it out there again. Regarding the excess tummy skin...does it go away? I met a friend of mine a few months ago who was an incredible inspiration to me, when she first got here to germany with her husband she weighed over 230lb now she is down to around 170 and teaches a spinning class on post three times a week. I think she looks great! We had a long converstion about getting fat, having kids, staying at home, stuff all mommy's talk about... anyway I asked her if she still had excess skin, and she said she did and she hated that! She had 3 c-sections. I had one. But I had my boys 19 months apart and then progressively got fatter after my youngest. I have a starburst of strechmarks around my belly button. Although I have lost alot of weight over the last four months doing mainly cardio, my stomach is still big (which makes me wonder what kind of denial I was in to ever think I "didn't look that bad!!!") I even have strech marks on my a$$. Yeah, I grew in both directions!!! I have a ways to go and figure body for life is the way to do it, but I don't want to go through all of this and still not be able to wear a bikini this summer, especially here in europe where everyone is bean pole skinny and run around the pool completely naked! My husband is looking so good, and I want to look good too, not skinny and stretchy. I keep getting mental images of Fat Bastard in "The Spy who Shagged Me" when he lost all that weight on the subway diet and had all that loose skin! Remember that? Anyway, sorry for the rambling, but is there any mommy out there who started out severely overweight and overcame the "loose skin trap"?
Thanks!
Tammie

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/louis13.htm
You're not going to find one answer that everyone will agree on. I will say, though, to not let loose skin keep you from losing weight because it won't be "worth it" in the end. It is good to have an idea of what to expect when you DO lose the weight. I can understand how devistating to work your butt off (literally) for such a long time and not have the body you were working FOR. Be realistic with your goals and don't stop until you reach them!

It might just be in your own backyard???
Today is TUESDAY and for many of us BFLers and that means CARDIO DAY!! Did you know that there are FOUR types of CARDIOers???...
CARDIO-Rookie...This person is honestly trying their best at acclimating themselves to the world of cardio. It is ergonomically awkward, respiratorily scary and quite often they feel just plain ignorant and bite off more than they can chew.........thus leading to burnout and failure.
CARDI O'WHINER...You can hear this person a mile a way. They hate cardio and bitch and whine through the whole session. They know it is good for them, they know what to do, but they will let a hangnail sideline them if its CARDIO DAY!
CARDI O. FREAK...This person is just whacked out! They can't get enough CARDIO. They will hit the treadmill and look like a machine and then jump on the elliptical for some more torture. They will workout in such a way that EVERYBODY notices them; all the while smiling/chuckling at you as you are in agony trying to go 20 minutes at Level 5!!!
CARDIO WIZARD....You have learned to HIIT your 10's and you have fallen into that intensity groove that allows you to experience optimal conditioning every time you HIIT the trail! Even on days when you don't exactly feel like it, you find that strength and determination deep down within to make it through! You also have found that comfort zone that allows you to enjoy your workout while not being too competitive or too judgemental of those people huffin' and puffin' around you!
SO WHO ARE YOU??? (Did I miss anybody???)
BIG BULL beggin'
Body for Life Forum Message by FlyerFan (21 posts) at 04:27 PM
No question: Cardio Wizard.
I have recently switched from a treadmill to the eliptical for my cardio. A worker at my gym was showing the machines to a new customer & I over heard her say that the eliptical is better on the knees, back & shins. So I made the switch & have found that I am getting a much better cardio workout!

I'm in C2 and am struggling a bit due to some depression. I'm adjusting my meds. I can say though that I bought a new BFL Journal and the structure of the program certainly helps with my day to day conundrums. This site too has been motivating. I really love reading all of the positive comments and support the trackers give each other. It is a neat "CYBER FAMILY" if you will. Everyone here is so brave, imperfect and hell bent on bettering themselves. So thanks for all of the daily inspirations everyone! I'm glad Tracker is back in full force, stronger than before. I think BFL really helps depression.
When you are focussing on cardio or workouts properly, stress is removed , at least temporiarly. When you can temporiarily remove stress every day, it becomes more natural to do so ( same for depression ) and it becomes less necessary to " remove stress and depression "

I know this isn't the first post of this kind around here and it probably won't be the last, but I was pretty frustrated at the gym this morning. I go at 6am, so it's not like there is a huge crowd there and I have never had to wait for a machine at that time. Dumbbells sometimes, yes, but not any machines.
So I finished my 5 sets of squats and walked over to the leg press machine for my 6th set, and there were weights already on it, but they were too heavy for me. Just as I started to pull the first plate off, this guy runs over and tells me he's using it and has two more sets. And he won't let me work in, he just keeps saying "just two more sets." But wait, it's worse. He has two more sets on both the leg press AND the hack squat, he's alternating sets, which means I was going to have to wait for 4 sets plus the rest in between, and he wouldn't let anyone work in on either machine. After a full song played on my iPod while I waited, I finally went to another part of the gym and did my last set on the leg sled. I had finished that set and started my deadlifts when he finally came over to tell me he was done. Gee, thanks.
Body for Life Forum Message by KatieFeld-mom (128 posts) at 05:12 PM
Big time bummer! I hate people who hog the machines. And then those same people don't bother wiping off the sweat.
Body for Life Forum Message by FlyerFan (21 posts) at 05:12 PM
That's just not right! I can always tell when someone is lurking by, you know they want to use the machine. I will finish my set & then say tell them I have X amount of sets left but they are welcome to jump in. If they do, I wipe the machine down & just wait right there for the to do a set. What is just as rude to me is when someone doesn't wipe the machine down when they are done. Especially if they see me do it first.

What a jerk! I am so luck to have a gym in my garage. I don't have a lot of equipment, but at least I can do my thing when I need to.
Sorry you were mis-treated Jess.
Body for Life Forum Message by chantal2bfit (24 posts) at 05:25 PM
What a jerk!!! Or maybe just plain dumb!
I hate people who hogs the machine, especially when they come in groups. At my gym, there's this group of guys that comes at a certain time and they always work out together. For some reason, they only do upper body workout EVERYDAY and they always congregate around the one and only cable machine. Sometimes, I deliberately go earlier so I can get there first. I can feel them hovering around me and I can tell they're really annoyed. But I don't care! I can certainly share if they would only ask.
Body for Life Forum Message by aussiebel (9 posts) at 05:28 PM
You have to wonder about some people, AND TO NOT LET YOU WORK IN WITH HIM!
I'm lucky that the gym I am with really frowns on that sort of thing. The signs they have all over the gym tell you so ;o)

Something else that frustrates me is that he was using REALLY bad form and just whipping through the leg presses. I've seen him around there before, I think he's there most of the time in the mornings. He always has on a matching sweatshirt and sweatpants, hair perfect, and I don't think I've ever seen him break a sweat. He does a lot of wandering around. So I felt like I was waiting around for him to waste his time AND mine.
Body for Life Forum Message by Can'tStopMe (504 posts) at 05:37 PM
I love the fact that men on a whole in my gym don't work legs. There is one man in particular that loads up about 400 pounds on the leg press, doing at least 6 sets with an entire circuit in between each set.
Body for Life Forum Message by GET*HER*DONE (2945 posts) at 05:50 PM
Well, I do the same thing, but everyone knows me and if they need the machine they ask and we all work around each other, saying stuff like can I jump in here for 2 sets or 12 reps or whatever. I guess that's the good part of a small town gym, no one gets in the way and they always ask if you're finished.
that's a nice way to GET*HER*DONE
Body for Life Forum Message by Nicabod (76 posts) at 05:51 PM
You should just work in anyway if he goes to the other machine. I mean, heck, he's gone and you only had one set!
At my gym last night, there was this guy in royal blue spandex shorts who looked EXACTLY like Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite. I bet he could throw a football over the mountains.

Hey Chantal, that sounds exactly like my gym back in New York. It wsa a group of about 4 guys, they were already there every day when I went at 1 pm on my lunch. They would congregate around the stacks and each one usuing a diff part of it. What kille dme was, while one was doing a set, theothers were standing there, hands on the strap, but not doing anything but talking and watching the guy working. I just didnt' get it. It was very annoying. I could never use the stacks, never. On top of that, they gawked at the girls nonstop. When I left at 2 they were always still there. I decided they spend all day doing a set each per hour and gawking.

The thing is, MOST of the guys in the gym are just fine (I'm almost always the only woman in the weights section), but this one guy just managed to be in my way today.
But I've seen the dumbbells he lifts, and I lift heavier than he does, so maybe I'll just bench press him the next time he gets in the way. :)

Luckily Ive never had a problem at all at my home gym-but did see two women get into it one day- it was actually kind of entertaining....but one time I was out of town and at a Golds gym and I walked right up to a leg machine and just as I got there some guy walked right in front of me and got on it!! I mean I was only 1 foot from the machine and already reaching for it!! He nearly had to push me to get it on it!! I was speechless! Away from home traveling I didnt want some wierdo following me back to my hotel so I just went and got on a different machine and while I was on it, he finished with the one he stole from me and looked right over at me and goes "you can have it now"! With a big smile!! He thought it was funny-I think he was mentally challenged (in a mean, freaky sort of way)!

Glad to see some of the old names still around and plenty of new ones too. I finished the BFL challenge last june. I immediatley moved into my first home that I purchased. It was a fun time being a "real" adult but the change in routine killed me. I decided i would take some time off of BFL but not completely. I would eat right and go to the gym. But i wouldn't turn down friends who wanted to go out for late night and after 12 weeks i didn't REALLY need those tracker people anymore. I was fine... for awhile. I wasnt gaining weight and i was still losing, just not as much. I would get back into it soon enough right? as soon as I could buy some dishes and pots and pans and find a grogery store in my new town I would be fine. Well slowly but surely my eating habits got worse and my workouts got poorer. Finally the holiday season from november to december did me in. I gained about 15 of the 25 lbs i lost back. My clothes didn't fit as well and my self esteem came down. I ALWAYS told myself i wouldnt look back 3 momths, 6 months later and say " Damn, I would have felt 10 times better had i stuck with it". Well here I am 6 months later and I am saying Damn! Now to be honest, I wanted to come back to the fold earlier but i was ashamed of my lack of progress and then my weight gain. How could i go back to the support group i spurned having failed? But you know what, screw that. I liked this site. it helped. And If I am going to do this right, weigh ins, pictures, measurments and the friggin tracker site have to be apart of it. So I am back and hopefully for good this time. I don't know what the future holds but I know i need to be in better shape when it comes around. Thanks for reading and goodluck to all the people who are just starting and even a bigger wish of luck to all those who are about to finish for the first time. Remember dance with who brought you!

Hi girls,
Mina's profile is at:

There have been quite a few posts today about loose skin. From what I gather, it's a lot to do with hereditary factors. I think not smoking helps too as does losing weight slowly and sensible. I don't think we're going to find the answer to this question until we get closer to our goals. Personally, I can't wait to find out if I will have loose skin!
best wishes

ooo. . .I'm not sure I could for it, I'm such a wimp. But then, I won't really know until I get there.
I once saw some photos of the procedure. I think the muscles beneath the skin are drawn together too. I think the scarring cab be quite bad and maybe the procedure isn't always as successful as expected. I don't think Mina had the procedure done.
Anyhoooooooo. . .I'm not going to worry about it! I think I'm going to hope I have skin like Linda's and everything snaps back into shape.

I have a little more info for you. This was originally posted by Mina Hobbi another forum. I especially like her thoughts on "visualization."
"About my "skin"...Many people have asked about the Fat to Fit "Flabby Skin Syndrome". When I started my Transformation last year, I was very worried that when I completed my transformation I'd have a "ripped" body covered with loose flabby skin. So I did a couple things to combat that possibility. Whether they had any effect or not, I'll probably never know. Firstly, no, I didn't have liposuction (as some have questioned.)I have a long vertical scar on my stomach caused by a required surgery over a decade ago. If I had liposuction...I would have told the Doctor, "GO STRAIGHT TO MY LEGS!!!"(laughing) What I did do to fight the possibility of "leftover skin" was I scrubbed my body every night followed by a moisturizer. I coerced my boyfriend to massage my "problem areas" and did it myself with a hand held massage "gizmo" when he wasn't available. I know this will sound strange to many...but, it's what worked for me, so...One of the first things I did was I learned to love and appreciate my body "just as it was", then, I constantly visualized the way I wanted my body to be...I had pictures of the Best Bodies in the fitness industry plastered everywhere around our home, and I mentally pictured my face on those bodies CONSTANTLY! Once I got my "mind" to accept that "I'm GOING to achieve this (ideal) body with or Without you!!!" (lol)Everything changed."
Body for Life Forum Message by Larry (140 posts) at 07:51 PM
Here's what I've learned from doing web research over the years:
It appears that the best way to avoid, or help reduce the chance of getting "loose skin," particularly for those with larger amounts of weight to loose, is to loose weight at a slow, even rate (1 - 2 pounds per week) while engaging in exercise (like the Body-for-Life program) to build muscle and tone ones' underlying tissue.
Age, genetics, and other personal differences effect this equation but by far the best approach is to take it slow. This gives your body time to adapt, allowing the tissue that comprises your skin enough time to "shrink" and conform to your new shape.
Creams and topical solutions offer questionable results, so caveat emptor! Sugery is an alternative, but not always the answer. If you look very closely at some of the photos of "tummy tucks" in the links further on down (you'll have to explore the sites a bit), you'll see that little can be gained without exercise and toning (as in the BFL program) and in most of those "surgical cases," the results would have been better had they just did a BFL-like program. I won't even go into the dangers of complications.
Of course there are always exceptions, especially in the case of morbid obesity. As with anything, research all of your options very carefully.
Here's a few more links on it:

First off I would like to send a huge "Thank You" to Kerry for lending out the BFL DVD Collection! WOW, I am so motivated, inspired, and in some cases I was moved to tears. I think I'll keep them for the weekend when hubby comes back from his biz. trip. Whoever is next be ready! ;-)
Every single person had something just so amazing about them and there story! You know this whole BFL experience for me has made me look at people so much differently. Like what is there story? It just goes to prove there is an extraordinary person inside each and everyone of us!
As I was watching I was thinking of many of the people on this site and the people I see in the gym and it is just so dang inspiring to see people starting out by making that decision to change. Or those taking it to the next level, striving to raise the bar go even further. It really is great! Everyone has the potential to be extraordinary! All it takes is one life changing decision. To change your mind, body & life. You only get one body & one life to ever work with. Why not do the best you can with them?

I amsometimes hungry afte 2 hours and Iwill eat something small like a cottage cheese doubles or just 2 pancakes or a ff cheese stick. Its just enough to take the edge off. I'm afraid if I wait it out,I will overeat or eat too fast when the 3 hr mark finally hits.
Body for Life Forum Message by pk-rn (46 posts) at 07:28 PM
I read somewhere that if you are starving after 2 hours, you are probably not eating enough. Don't know if it's true but maybe add some more veggies to your meals.
Body for Life Forum Message by Nicabod (76 posts) at 08:02 PM
Sometimes. But doesn't Bill say 2-3 hours? So if you need to eat after 2, then eat after 2. I try to push it to three so I don't have to quit eating so early--ha, ha.
Body for Life Forum Message by TaraC29 (122 posts) at 08:22 PM
I'm not sure if it says anywhere, but maybe try eating more? I find that I don't get hungry at all if I follow the 3 hour rule...now if I go over that for whatever reason, I feel like I will starve to death!
Body for Life Forum Message by gbfan (360 posts) at 08:52 PM
Bill Phillips says (somewhere) in BFL that the goal should be to just feel hungry at the 2-3 hour mark. You shouldn't be starving and you shouldn't still feel full. If you're still feeling full... you've eaten too much. If you are hungry before the two hour mark (and you've drank your water)... you need to up your portions a bit. Make sure you're truly hungry and not just wanting to eat! I eat about every 2.5 hours. That works best in my schedule.
Body for Life Forum Message by 1leanmom (15 posts) at 08:59 PM
I'm always hungry at the 2 hour mark too...and I make myself wait til 2.5 hours...
one thing that helps me deal with it though is to remind myself that my metabolism is on warp speed and that's a great thing! our bodies are doing just what they should be...and we'll reach our goals by keeping it up!

He thinks he is being supportive but everything he said just makes me wanna give up and go eat some icecream. Some people can be so insensitive about weight issues. please help- just a lil encouragement before i head to the gym.

Okay, here’s the real deal. Twelve weeks from now, ONE of you will be proven RIGHT and one will be proven WRONG. YOU have a lot of people in your corner (everyone here) supporting your effort. You have the desire to transform your body and mind. You’ve made the commitment to do so. You now have the knowledge, desire and commitment to successfully transform yourself. You have all this going for you while he is alone in his negative thoughts.
So, twelve weeks from now, who will be right? My money is on YOU! You can do it! You MUST do it! Go get it done!!

Let me preface this by saying I have been there...so now let me ask you...
WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU GO PROVE TO HIM THAT YOU CAN'T DO THIS???
You will feel SO much better when you prove to him that you can. And you can. Many of us have tried every diet out there, including some pretty goofy and dangerous plans. This one works.
I, for one, have never stuck with ANY diet or exercise program for longer than a few months. When the going gets tough, when I lose my enthusiasm, I quit. But in exactly 2 weeks from today, I will have been on BFL for one year. My progress has slowed with my enthusiasm, but I'm still plugging along, I'm still going, and now that my enthusiasm is back I am kicking butt again.
You can do this. What you need to do is prove it to YOURSELF, and then your friend will eat his words. :)

oh my gosh- u wouldnt believe what a difference a few encouraging words make. I know now that one of my weaknesses before was not having enough support that i could count on. i always went at diets alone b.c im surrounded by people who have never had to visit the gym for thier entire lives.
Well i forgot all about that icecream and Im actually eating my first real portion controlled meal. A fist size of brown rice, a chicken drum stick and a side salad. Wow it all feels so good. Thank you all for the support- it made a difference it really did.
I will prove my friend wrong- I will meet the BFL challenge and his.

Hey, just wanted to say...with support like that, I wouldn't be sharing anymore of my successes with him! Just keep them to yourself until the 12 weeks are up, THEN show him the pics! You can do this!!

Been there I tell you. I have a hard time getting support also. I have found that reading the BFL book and doing what is said in the book, like writing out your goals and reading them each day. This is really helpful. This web site is just a life saver also. Keep up the good work and take it one day at a time. Keep going you can do this :-)

Know exactly how you feel!! My mom and sister are of the mind set "we'll see what happens." So I decided to not tell them about this next 12 weeks and just let them ask me when they start seeing the changes.
I even invited my sister and her husband over last Sat and ate pizza with them. I'm only going to have a "free" meal with them.
Body for Life Forum Message by GET*HER*DONE (2945 posts) at 09:03 PM
just my added 2 cents,
BFL is fun, educational, an experience that will not only make your body better looking and in shape, but also train your mind to pick up on new good habits and shed the old bad habits, you will notice, a happier person inside your body in about 4 weeks, just think how GREAT you will feel in 12 weeks and beyond!
You can do it, Just go to the Gym and GET*HER*DONE!!

When I started working out, my co-workers gave me a hard time. They had been working out in the gym for a year and decided I wouldn't stick with "my program". It has now been 1 year and 2 months for me... I'm a size 2/4 and they are believers!!! They have seen how disciplined I am... how dedicated I am to this program... and how much I believe in it. Now, they are telling others that it works because they've seen me do it!
You just do your part... and believe me, people at the gym, people at Wal-Mart and the grocery store will ask you what you're doing because the changes will be obvious. Your friend will not be able to deny it.

I did bfl a year ok, and I admit I didnt' stick to it very well. So I am fully dedicated to it this time!!!! I did my first cardio workout and felt like I was going to die! My teeth hurt and I could barely breath! Remind, me it gets easier? Well not easier but your body adjusts right? I felt great when it was done! I admit I'm so full of fear...afraid to eat, afraid to workout....I read in the book by Dr. Peeke(womens bfl edition) that the pics shown were probably people who REALLY pushed. I want soooo bad to look good. I don't know if I'm pushing hard enough or too much. I realize I'm in day 2 but I want to make sure I"m on track. I realize this is not a perfect system but.....Thanks for any advice or support
Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (188 posts) at 08:00 PM
It really does work. And it will get better. Not necessarily easier, but you will switch from wanting to die during cardio to wanting to kick butt harder.
Don't be afraid. You CAN do this. Stick with it and you'll feel great all the time.
And can I suggest you read the REAL Body For Life? Because the pics shown in Peeke's book were people who did it Bill Phillips' way. :)
Body for Life Forum Message by Nicabod (76 posts) at 08:01 PM
My first week, I could barely walk after lbwo--this week is not so bad. Tired, but not painful. It gets better.
Also, if those people in the photos went crazy above and beyond to get there, realize that (a) so can you, or (b) it'll just take you a little longer to get there. Some of them admit to doing extra, others claim they did it as-is. So who knows? Do what works for YOU! :)
Body for Life Forum Message by scrappinmichelle (18 posts) at 08:14 PM
Your body adjusts and believe me, you will get as hungry to finish the Challenge as the pictures or those who have finished the Challenge did. I did the Challenge pre-pregnancy and didn't finish the full 12 weeks (9-10 weeks) and still achieved amazing results. Just take it one day at a time, one meal at a time, one workout at a time. Good luck! Can't wait to see After photos of you.
Body for Life Forum Message by gbfan (360 posts) at 08:49 PM
It all gets better. It never should be easy... because the goal is to always push yourself to your best level. Everyone has different results. My results were fairly slow, in my opinion. But, the results come from the inside out and they are REAL. Give yourself one year to be faithful to this program... that's 4 challenges. Don't limit yourself to one 12-week challenge. I PROMISE, after 1 year... you will be a new person, inside and out!!!
Body for Life Forum Message by GET*HER*DONE (2945 posts) at 08:59 PM

One of the things I have come to realize while on my BFL journey is, once you finish a 12 week challenge You are subconciously hooked on BFL.
You can slack off and try to forget about all the great things about it and how great you felt while doing BFL and the sense of accomplishment you felt on that day 84, but in your subconcious YOU REMEMBER.
There have been many people come and go on this site and the ones who leave for good seem to be the ones who never finished a 12 week challenge. The ones I have noticed that stay on this site or falter for a short time but return are the ones who have finished a challenge.
If you live to be 75 you will have lived on this earth for 27,375 days, use 84 of those days, finish a challenge and change your life forever.
Your BFL Buddy, Rod

That is so funny I was thinking the same thing now c'mon now get out of my head lol ;-)
Actually I was thinking of how funny it is that I can't just eat out of control or without limits and times (every 3 hours) anymore. And I can't just function on whatever eating anymore. My life has completely changed for the better it's great. And when I do eat something on the uhhhmmm that "special day" I don't get out of control. I even have limitations on that day subconsciously. It does take on a life of it's own. It's awesome!

Well - I posted photos - I didn't have much change between weeks 8 and 12 as the holidays really kicked my butt. But I am happy with the challenge overall and am looking forward to challenge 2
Some things I learned were -
Visiting family creates situations where I am not good at dealing with food. Need to work on that for this year.
Even when you don't feel like exercising - you can do 20 minutes
My free day needs to be a little less free in challenge 2 :-)
I love BFL and want to do this for life!
For challenge 2 I am going to have some questions for you veterans about how to add in some of my triathlon training and eat enough to not drive down my metabolism.

As far as your future goals about the family situation which I too have issues when I go to the parents house. Something about when I walk through the door it's like open season on all foods lol. What I do is pack a cooler with my authorized foods for my meals or not go over there until free day.
You can accomplish all those new goals! Just look at what you have already accomplished! Way to go!

All I can find is "Upper Body".. and a massive list of different excersises... what in specific did you start with? I just have *no clue* where to start!
Body for Life Forum Message by Tomcat1066 (118 posts) at 02:32 PM
In the book there is a sample form for upperbody workout. I has the specific body parts to work and in which order is suggested. You simply take exercises from the exercise list for that body part and plug them in. The weight is the tricky part. Just start with the lightest weights to begin with and go up as you need increased intensity.
Does that help?
Tom
Body for Life Forum Message by Scattergold (14 posts) at 02:47 PM
Yes thanks =) I'll have to check my book when I get home... is that the page with the "hand written" form?
Ah this is what I get for all those years not paying attention in weights in High School!! I rode horseback for excersis... well... now I havent riden a horse in 5 years!!! >_<

That's an example. There are blanks in there that you can make copies of, and I believe there is an excel spreadsheet out there as well that is the same form. I have the excel sheet at work, not here, and I have no idea where it came from.
Still, it's not hard to work something up yourself if you don't want to make a copies.

This is day three for me and BFL. I am super excited about the changes... and I am definitely going to see the 12 weeks through. For the last three days, I got up in the morning and read my goals out loud... that really helps.
I really do want to change. About a year and a half ago, I underwent my first life change. I was 152 pounds, just out of college, and miserable. I began trying to take my life back and fought my way (mostly by dieting... wrong) down to 118. But then I was almost a human yo yo... I was only at 118 for a few days before I couldn't keep it up anymore. I kept a journal of what I was eating - I was counting calories and a few days wouldn't go over 800 but I would burn 500 on the treadmill..this continued for months and I felt so weak and drained... My family and my boyfriend were really worried about me... so I stopped.
And you guessed it... the weight piled back on. I remember in the haze of a few months where I gave up on myself... I went from eating almost nothing to eating almost EVERYTHING - I was eating Chicken Wings, Pizza, Beer, Cookies, Candy... LOTS of junk.
Just before new years - I weighed myself. And that was the last straw.
My dog weighs 12 pounds... I gained my dogs weight in fat. When I saw that I was just shy of 130 again, I freaked out. I looked in the mirror and said "When are you going to stop? Do you want to put yourself through this again???"
This time I am going to do it the right way. I don't just want to be an after picture for a moment... I want to be an after picture for the rest of my life.
But doing things the right way isn't always easy... yesterday was kind of hard for me because I felt a little down. No body that I know wants to change their bodies... so I felt pretty alone when my family came back with takeout last night.
But I came to this forum and read through some amazing and inspirational posts... and let me tell you - that is all I needed. Just to know that there are people going through it with me. I do believe we can do this... and that in 12 weeks I am going to have the body of my dreams.
WE CAN DO IT!!! BELIEVE!!!! I would love to hear some more of your stories... :-)
Body for Life Forum Message by Tomcat1066 (118 posts) at 12:47 PM
I'm just a guy that would start BFL, then let something sidetrack him like a well-meaning but ultimately harmful trainer, lack of money for nutritious food, or just a lack of motivation. I've gotten to week 4 in my first challenge, but no luck. I didn't do a lot of the stuff the book says you should do, like reading your goals every day and such, and I paid for it.
This time, I am just sick of how I look and there's only one way to change it...to change my Body...for life!!!! :)

I cant totally relate to you. I'm at 125 pounds and this is the biggest I have ever been. Gee I ran marathons did triathlons and even came in second in my age group for the season in my triathlon series. And one injury and way too much comfort food. I swear I must be allergic to comfort food because it made me blow up. LOL!
I'm alread on day two and I can't wait till this weekend to pull out my receip books and make all my favourite things BFL friendly.

Good Luck,
I am concerned for you though. With your height and desired weight, you will be considered "underweight". Height and Weight charts indicate for a 5'5' small frame female, you should aim to weight at LEAST 117.
I realize that height and weight charts aren't the end all and be all...but we can use them as a guide. Try not to get caught up in the scale weight. You will find on this program that scale weight is all relative and measuring your success by the scale is not the best tool.
In addition, you have to FEED your body in order for it to work properly. I am just hoping you learned that eating 800 calories and burning 500 was counter productive!!! :) It is also a sign of an eating disorder. Not a judgement....we all must have some kind of eating "disorder" to be on the site and desiring to control our eating and transforming our bodies. Its just a concern.
A great resource is the Hussman site. www.hussman.org. Read through this site. It has helped me determine how much (or little ) I should be eating. I have been consistently eating too little or too much (of the wrong foods) in cycles for many years. Eating too little is just as bad as eating too much. Just something I constantly battle.
BFL is helping me work through this. I also use the Body for Life site to help me determine the amount of calories per day I should consuming for weight loss...which is my goal. You may want to consider using the Weight loss plus muscle gain. (which for your weight is about 1500 calories a day) This will allow you to lose the fat you want to and gain the muscle for a toned body.
Also....take your "before" picture. Post it somewhere that you can see. Don't use your eyes for a daily check...they play tricks on us sometimes! A picture of the starting point has been a great tool for most of us here. You don't have to post it here if you are uncomfortable with it, but you do need to take one for yourself.
Your post just brought out a little concern in many ways. I wish you the best of luck on BFL and here on the tracker. Post often when you need help!

Since there are so many new faces I wanted to remind everyone here about a Yahoo group we put together. We created a clothing exchange for members who would like an inexpensive way to get "new" clothing or members who would like to pass on clothing that no longer fits. We modeled the group after freecycle.org and basically everything is free except for shipping. We have a handful of members and would like to have more so we can make it beneficial for everyone. Please visit our group at the following link http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/bflcex/ and please read the guidelines under the files folder. I am the moderator for the group, so if you have any questions, please feel free to PM me anytime.
Thank you!!

Hello all, my wife and I started the BFL Challenge yesterday. I have used the exercise portion before and found it very helpful so were both pretty enthusiastic.
Have a couple of "newbie" questions:
Eating: I found desert recepies on the BFL website which I did not see in the book. Are these deserts supposed to be eaten as the 10:00PM snack?
Exercise: We are working out in our basement. Have a bench and dumbbells. Wife has a bad back. As such, she does not want to attempt the DumbBell pullovers until her back is stronger. Can anyone recommend a back exercise she can do? She is able to perform the one armed dumbbell rows.
Thanks,
-GDU61

Hey GDU61! Welcome. I would probably start with a back crunch. It should help flexibility as well as strengthening the back.

Craig,
Is a back crunch the same as back raise? (lying on a swiss ball with hands behind your head, raising and lowering your back).
Thanks,

I'm new to this and getting back into marathon running and triathlons so my cardio workouts are going to be way more than 20 mins. Like this morning's workout was a 10km run. So will I be affected by these workouts which are usually done at a steady pace? Or should I do a BFL Cardio of 20 mins (with interals?) too. Or am I doing enough cardio?
My plan for tonight was to do another run BFL, but sprinting up hills

Miranda,
I do my 20 min cardio as prescribed by Bill and then I tack on my extra distance steady state.... so I get my milage in AND stay within BFL. I have been doing this for about 9 mos, and since I started BFL (used to do only long, slow runs for the most part)I have improved my marathon time by 1/2 hour, and my 5k time 4 minutes.

Thanks so much! I'm glad you said that I was really looking forward to hitting the hills.
I have no problem with doing extra cardio.

HAHA me neither but honestly I dont know if it has stood in the way of my building muscle. For now, I am happy with the weight loss and race times.

I also LOVE sweet potato "fries" as described above 'cept I use a shortcut:
Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into your fav. fry shape. Put them all in a bowl with 1T water, cover with saran wrap, and nuke them for about 4-5min OR on the auto potatoe setting.
Then, put them on a cookie sheet with seasonings and spray under the broiler until crisp.
Saves the hour needed to cook them beforehand.

Italian Beef:
Good sized roast w/ little fat.
1 pkg Au Jus powder
1 pkg Italian Dressing powder
Cook overnight. Separate meat w/ a fork.
I like to spoon a portion of the meat over a nuked tater. Yum!

Here's my favorite way to eat cottage cheese:
Pudding Stuff:
2 cups of low fat cottage cheese
1 package of fat-free, sugar-free
Vanilla Instant Jello Pudding
1 cup of crushed pineapple in its own juice
1 cup of skim milk
Blend everything until smooth. Pour into 4 individual containers or a casserole dish. This is so yummy I can't stand it. Try adding some coconut extract for a pina colada twist! Makes 4 servings. This meal is 149 calories, 1 gram of fat, 17 grams of protein & 16 grams of carbs.
------------------------------------
OR
Haystack Snack:
1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese
1 teaspoon of NATURAL peanut butter
2 packets of Splenda sweetener
1/4 cup of Fiber One cereal
Blend everything but cereal until smooth. Mix in cereal and eat. It's very yummy. Got the recipe from Mandy, but amended it to fit my meal requirements. This meal is 140 calories, 4 grams of fat, 15 grams of protein, 16 grams of carbs.
Mmmmmmmm! Maybe that's what I'll have for breakfast!

Cuz if it is, I'm going to whip myself up some spaghetti, with a side of double cheeseburger. If it IS in fact on the authorized list, I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find low sodium Playdoh???

Are canned veggies acceptable while doing BFL? I like fresh, but there is a greenbean recipe I love and it's made with canned. Don't want to waste my time making it if I can't eat it, ya know!
Body for Life Forum Message by crazyblonde78 (266 posts) at 03:28 PM
I think they are fine. I always buy the no salt added and rinse them before cooking. We all know fresh is best, but when you are in a crunch for time.....
