I agree that 8 mins a day is nothing and not expecting MORE of a workout is silly.
I haven't read books or theories or anything on it except right here. I have seen it out, but that is about it.
Does this guy promote any specific eating regime or acknowledge that over time 8 mins a day isn't enough? Anyone know?

8 minutes a day is better than zero minutes a day.
Whatever starts someone on the road to better health is all good in my book. One healthy habit usually begets another.

Admittedly, I've not read the book so if he actually says eat a Big Mac every three hours, I can't get behind that, but the diet, as explained on his website, is pretty darn close to BFL. Eating small meals regularly to keep metabolism cruising and to prevent muscle tissue being consumed for fuel. Sounds...familiar... :-) Granted, he does seem to allow a reliance on processed foods that isn't something I'd want to go with, and the snacks are kind of weak in terms of protein, but I think he's being realistic about the level of investment (time) most people are willing to make into meal-planning.
As for his 8 Minute Moves thing, he points out (rightly) that most people go into an exercise program with too much intensity and burn out or injure themselves quickly. And then quit. Which gets them nowhere, obviously. He recommends using the 8 Minutes as a way of getting stronger and getting accustomed to working out, then says you should move toward more rigorous exercise. The 8 minutes just opens the door.
Man, I sound like his spokesperson!

Concidering what kind of choices we Americans are making that the hardest thing we had been doing prior to BFL was to open the package of Oreo's. So doing 8 min workout is lightyears ahead of where most people are.
More power to the 8 minute workout and my it turn into a 20 min cardio and 45 min weight lifting session.

hey everyone,
i remember reading a thread on here about someone saying their fat felt squishy or mushier than before they started bfl. i did a search but cant find it. i rememebr reading it and thinking to myself "oh i wish that would happen to me", and finally it has! im into week 6 and i have the mushy fat thing! before the layer of fat i had felt firm , i could tell it was fat and not muscle, but it wasnt totally jiggly. as of yesterday, the fat on my thighs, stomach, butt etc, feels like jello! why is this? i think someone said its like the fat is getting ready to leave? if someone could post the link to that site that explains it it would be much appreciated!
thanks,

From hussmanfitness.com:
"if you've been sedentary for a long time, your fat probably hasn't seen an ounce of circulation since high school. This causes your fat to turn thick and hard, or "blubbery" (yes, Scrabble fans, that is a word). Marine animals have this sort of fat deposit, called a "blubber lay". When you start working out consistently, some of you may find that your fat or cellulite becomes more like Jell-O initially."

I thought this is weird I didnt put any loition on before bed or anything. My hubby says I am melting every day now...LOL! Gotta love hearing that! Anyways so I am chalking it up to the fat leaving my tummy now! 3rd week of CLA and 2nd week of my C2 and I have been doing it to the "T" this time.

I am really fair-skinned and managed to have 4 kids without a single stretch mark, but did come away with more spider veins than I care to have. Plus they REALLY show up when I am not tan, which is most of the time. Has anyone had success with any of the various spider vein treatments? I'm not talking about the creams...I have had limited success with that, but I want something permanent or as close to it as possible.
Since my legs are going to be smokin' hot one day, lol, spider veins just do not go with my future new image!

I would be interested in any responses to this as well! I've heard of laser surgery being the most effective means, but I'm wondering about cost and if the procedure causes other veins around the treated area to then collapse and show (I read that somewhere....)
Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (837 posts) at 11:54 AM
4 kids and no stretch marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WAY TO GO!
Geez, I got boobs (age 12, flat chest to D-cups-whew) and had stretch marks.
It was a losing battle when I got pregnant! ;)
I got the spider viens too. My mother has them, well....used to. She had the injection treatments. The ones she treated are still gone, but she has gotten more. She bruised for a few weeks, but then it was all better and looks good. She is thinking about going back for another round for the new ones.
It does make a difference and has made her much more confident and happier.
I don't know what the procedure is called, but her regular Dr did the treatments.

I have had the injections two different times, the first time being more successful. I am going to have the laser before summer. A new clinic has opened near me, and when I enquired, I was told $200(Canadian) for 15 mintues, and for most people once is enough.

Body for Life Forum Message by Rie (512 posts) at 01:22 PM
The problem with it is that it shuts those veins down- but the blood still has to flow, so it find alternate routes and so you end up with spider vein in other places.
Body for Life Forum Message by nola (94 posts) at 01:30 PM
Teresa, all I got was temporary boobs! (But that can be fixed one day, lol!)
I had never heard that about new spider veins popping up elsewhere. My mom had the injections years ago (when I was maybe 2?), but she also had a lot of trouble with varicose veins, so her legs were a mess. I do find that mine seem a little less noticable when I am more fit...maybe it's a circulation thing or my imagination? Even if I have to repeat whatever treatment in a few years, I would be willing to do it if they would go away for the most part.

I never used Hydroxy cut but I did use other ephedra based fat burners with great success,Xenadrine,I think that's how it is spelled. I took off about 20-25 lbs with it in a little over a month. But once I stopped using it, the weight came back, and came back fast. I was considering some fat burners in my supplementation but from everything I have read no body is getting the same results compared to when they contained ephedra. So why waste the money? Just hit your 10's!!
Body for Life Forum Message by ibmissy (7 posts) at 08:43 AM
I am taking something called X-treme NRG. It has 10 mg of ephedrine alkaloids, which is the legal limit. The bottle says only 4 a day maximum. I take one usually, sometimes a second one later in the day. Being a nurse I am too scared to abuse it by taking too much. :) I've lost 15 lbs, but 9 of it I lost the first 5 days on bfl before I bought the pills.
Body for Life Forum Message by TakeAction (1 posts) at 03:15 PM
Since ephedrine is now available on the counters again, and if you decide to use it, does that disqualify you from entering the challenge?

I took it a few months ago, and when I was by myself, it was okay. But if I took it before working out and my fiance (or just about anyone else) was there, I went into "biatch mode" for about 20 minutes. Afterwards, I felt fine, but this next time around, we're taking the ThermoDynamX from EAS, and haven't seen any mood swings.

I know there is a lot of opinion that the bars are too high in sugar? But what are the main differences between these bars? I like the convenience of them and use one a day and if there is no other alternative I will do two.
I am currently doing 6 portions of protein a day and 4 or 5 of carbs...Do the carb control bars from eas make more sense than the bfl bars?
Body for Life Forum Message by heathercj7 (9 posts) at 01:28 PM
I prefer the EAS bars (they seem to taste better and have more variety of flavors). I have compared the nutrition info and they are very comparable. I know the bars are bad for you but I need some way to get in a "healthy" chocolcate fix! If I get the carb control bars I will add some kind of fruit with my snack.

This thread is so funny.
I've got one that's not really an argument, but I was pissed off anyway!
When I was with my ex I had a dream that he cheated on me and broke up with me. When I woke up in the morning I was so angry with him! I told him about the dream in the morning, then all day I felt so mad with him I had to tell him I was sorry, I know he didn't do anything wrong, but I was still pissed off so to steer clear of me that day! :-)
Then quite a few months later I turned over in my sleep one night as I also drew my knee up towards my body and accidentally kneed him fair and square right between the legs. There must have been quite a bit of momentum to that move because he was in agony!! I felt absolutely terrible about it. Poor guy, what a way to wake up!
I wonder if my dream-self was getting him back for the cheating??!! :-)

Ok, I know it's a little late. But this is a good one. I still don't quite understand it myself. A few weeks ago, I was making some mac and cheese with my gf. I was using a set of measuring cups. you know the ones there is a 1cup, 1/2cup, 1/3cup, and a 1/4 cup. She looked at me when I handed her the one cup measure and asked her to get me some water. She said I was handing her the wrong measuring cup. I asked her what she meant. She said "This is a solid measuring cup. You need a liquid measure." I got the water myself and tried for half an hour to explain to her that a cup is a cup. The volume does not differ, whether it is a scoop or a full four cup liquid measure. her argument was that the one cup measure I handed her was not equal to a one cup liquid measure. I finally just gave up. She isn't dumb, she just doesn't seem to understand certain things.

This is along the same lines as Flower.
My boyfriend is not from his country. Well of course I cannot cook what he grew up eating. When we first met we were going to school full time and working full time, so my cooking was not an issue. Once we graduated I think he expected me to be a good cook and know how to use spices he grew up with. Logically he knows that I cannot know how to cook lamb when I never had lamb once when growing up, but he still wants this ability. Well one time I just got fed up with it and was making a meatloaf and I decided that I would show him. I can spice this thing up. I am not sure what all I put in this meat loaf, but it included cinnamon and nutmeg. That stupid meatloaf turned out to be the best meatloaf ever, and I can not duplicate it because i have no idea the quantity of spices I used. He loved that meat loaf!

No, but to my understanding it will increase an individual body tone. It is supposed to work organs that would normally not be affected by a regular workout. After my first completed challenge (I'm a week and a half in)I'm going to consider incorperating it in to my workout regimen.I know I will at some point but when exactly is the question and that depends on body composition when I complete this challenge.
Body for Life Forum Message by vonkarolinas (96 posts) at 05:34 AM
Not sure exactly which forum this goes in so I'll put it here. The other day I was at Wal-Mart, started getting a little nauseous, then really hot and sweaty, light headed and extremely dizzy, then my vision was filled with white spots. Ended up hitting my knees and passing out about the time I reached the pharmacy. Luckily there was a nurse there. Anyway, they brought me around and dumped some glucose tabs in me and a candy bar and a coke and that brought me around enough to communicate slightly. They called my nearest living relative to come get me, cause didn't want me driving. So, haven't been to the doctor yet because I'm a little scared. The nurse said that because the sugar and glucose brought such a great reaction, that it was my blood sugar bottoming out and I should definitely get tested for diabetes. I just turned 30, I don't need this. But if the doc tells me what I believe he will, how should I modify my BFL program/diet to accomadate the diabetes.
Body for Life Forum Message by Jitter2001 (93 posts) at 05:54 AM
I know that diabetes can differ from one person to the next. But I can tell you that I was diagnosed at around 30 myself. I will tell you this also.. It's not the end of the world. Once you start eating right and taking care of yourself, the diabetes really doesn't have any effect on you. When I was going to the doctor, he perscribed some medication for about a month then after that I started watching what I ate... Dropped a few pounds and my blood sugar numbers started to turn out great. I didn't have to take medication any longer and I don't feel any symptoms of diabetes anymore. Make sure you do go to the doctor and get the information that you need. It will help you figure out where you need to be. May not be what you were looking for.. but I hope it helps a little. -Ed-

I think WW is a great program and I have lost weight in the past on it. However, I found the more I did it, the more I became obsessed about food, especially when using point system. When I went to meetings, the talk was all about goodies and how they can be fit into the plan. I then joined online and did the Core, but once again, became obsessed with what I could eat. I wanted a weightlifter's diet and that is why I am doing BFL. So far, so good. No obsessions.
Body for Life Forum Message by anavywife (175 posts) at 04:53 AM
Why cant you do WW and BFL at the same time??? I have a feeling that some might not know exactly how it works...anyways, I do a combo of WW and BFL, I eat my 5-6meals but make sure I dont go over my alotted points. I have lost all of my weight with WW and have been able to tone up with the help of BFL. I know WW promotes a scale difference, but the overall idea is you change the way and what you eat. You learn to eat healthier as long as you follow it as you should, just as with BFL. Im sorry about all this I just feel very strongly about WW. I am now a Lifetime member and although I do BFL I will continue to attend my meetings and weigh-in. I learned what is healthy and what is not and how to avoid the bad stuff at WW, that alone has saved me from gaining the weight back. BFL and WW are both very good lifestyles and I feel strongly about each. If you have any Q's I would be more than happy to help.

Thanks to everyone for there thoughts. My original thinkging for doing this is mainly for the support factor of one on one. This chat stuff rocks but sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by all the topics! My first move is going to be to set up my house to work out at, thats a major problem, then the time I spend traveling to the gym can be utilized to do the prep of food for the next day. I'm still confused, I may go to a meeting monday at ww just because they have a promo of no joining fee, but we'll see how the vibe is! Thanks again!
Body for Life Forum Message by SupaFreak (1045 posts) at 07:19 PM
I think you would gain support from a WW group, but my only fear is that some of the people may think the BFL exercise plan is too much....and we all know it's NOT!
I think you should rely on this website more for support. Do you have a buddy that you could check in with that would help you keep on track?

Hey Sarah,
I don't think there is any negative research at all on creatine! So it really does seem to be good and safe. It's been out for years and seems to be the #1 supplement now outside of protein powders and mrps. There is NO doubt in my mind it works!
But do a bit of your own research but I would advocate for it in a second!

Hi,
I run the aerobics dept. for LA FItness south FLorida. It's one of the nicest gyms I've worked for. It has everything. All equipment you could ask for. I don't believe they will drop the initiation fee, but you can pay a lower initiation but a higher monthly. You also can freeze your account at anytime for ten bucks a month. You don't have to sign an agreement. You can do month to month. If your looking for a gym with alot to offer, this place is great. If your looking for a few extra pieces of weight equipment, I would look for a less expensive gym. They will give you a free week pass if you ask. If you don't mind me asking, which location are you looking at?

cbooher2, im looking at the hollywood location. thanks for the info about the gym. im looking to probably use it for everything and id like to take some yoga and other classes as well. are the classes included in the mebership?
i also am looking at golds gym, which is having a $1.00 down initiation fee until the end of the month. and a lot of others are waiving the initiation fee for new members because of the new year. does anyone use golds gym?
thanks!

What Edward said about having somebody to hold you accountable is true-it's a lot easier, especially in the beginning.
I'm on my very first real challenge and in Week 3. I noticed that by Week 2 things just kinda stabilized out and I didn't have those cravings for "forbidden" foods like I once did.
I just kept remembering that saying that Bill Phillips had in the first BFL book: no matter how good it tastes, it'll never taste as good as the best body of your life FEELS.
How good food tastes only lasts for an instant. How good I feel lasts all day long.
Yes, we do live in a non-BFL world...especially here in the South, where eating sweets and greasy food is something of a social expectation...but I find that, "Thanks, but no thanks" usually works if it's put politely and firmly.

I have hypothyroid and have been experiencing success, although my progress is very slow considering my focus, determination, hard work and clean eating... but changes are happening and I'm in a much better place physically and mentally than I was before incorporating BFL into my life.
The current before photos in my profile don't show me at my worse. I've been too embarrassed to post my real before photos, but I'll be updating my profile photos with Challenge 1's week 12 photos next week (I've been out of the country for a month and didn't have time to post my 12 week photo before leaving) and I may post my real before photos then so you can see the difference in me now.
I know it seems impossible, and although Muscles Marinara (hi Kevin), feels weight gain from hypothyroid is used all too often as an excuse, I can tell you from experience otherwise... and I can also tell you that losing weight is possible, but the progress is a bit slower than the average person.
GET*HER*DONE also suffers from hypothyroid - you should check out her profile. She's had GREAT success with BFL.
Best of luck to you!!! Don't EVER give up!

I got on Levothyroxine 50mgs I lost about 5 lbs then 3 months later they jacked it up to 75mg, I lost 12 lbs but with diet and exercise, then started the BFL challenge and have been continuely loosing ever since, I'm 147 lbs and lost 16% BF Trust me, even with the pills and the diet and ex I was doing, which was starving and ex my butt off to exhustion that I didn't even want to ex anymore, I would not have ever, I honestly believe that I would never have come this far without BFL and my BFL family. The thing is, in the past I've gone heavy on cardio and a bit skimpy on weights, so I'm hoping that taking the time to build more muscle will help on the metabolism front.

on other news, i have something to report.
i knows it too much info but you all asked so im telling. i went to the potty this morning and as i was starting to flush i look in the tiolet and theres this 3" long thing in there, no it wasnt a parasite. it was something that looked just like the stuff from the website! it was long and looked like intestiny seaweed! i caught a glimpse at it before it went down, and omg! lol i wish i took a photo! ive had stuff that looked that that before but it was kind of, how do i say this nicely? compacted with other fecal matter? lol, but this was singular. it was a little bizzare. but now i know its REALLY working!maybe i should block out my face on all my photos on here after this? lol

"The colon is approximately five to seven feet in length in a person Elvis's size and should have been about two inches in diameter . . . however, Elvis's colon was at least three and a half inches in diameter in some places and as large as four and half to five inches in diameter in others . . . [T]he megacolon was jam-packed from the base of the descending colon all the way up and halfway across the transverse colon. It was filled with white, chalklike fecal material.'
Read this on snopes...BUT they went on to say that it was probably more his use of drugs and laxatives, than his diet that caused it....

This is why our kids are allowed to chose ONE meal per week to eat "hot lunch". The other days, they eat a homemade lunch consisting of a ham/turkey sandwich made with mustard and/or low fat mayo, low fat swiss/cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc. on whole wheat, sliced apples, baby carrots, or some other fresh fruit or veggie, a sugar free yogurt, and a bottled water. At school, they have a morning snack, which we usually make a higher carb item such as a homemade granola bar or these things we get at Costco called Energy Bars. They kids love them.
When they get home from school, they are usually given a Frigo Cheesehead Light string cheese and a piece of fruit or some edamame. I see so many overweight kids at school, it makes me sad. My stepson gained 8lbs in the month he was visiting his mom over the month of December. He ate nothing but school lunch and played video games the entire time. He's been back for a few weeks now and has already lost 3lbs. He's 9 and weighs 100lbs. He had the potential to have a huge weight problem (it runs in hubbie's family), but we encourage lots of physical activity, healthy eating, and he LOVES his new video game, DDR!! That game is terrific. He will play for 45 minutes or so, working up a dripping sweat.
They list the nutritional content for our school lunches...they all contain around 700 calories, over 20grams of fat, around 1200mg of sodium, etc. Horrible.

kitwhit, I'm with you on that. I was stationed in Korea from Nov 01 till Dec 02. The Koreans, and I guess Asians in general aren't fat. And my assignemnt was a remote assignment so there were only military members on base (no dependents). In other words, I didn't really see overweight people for a year.
When my assignment there was over and I stepped off the plane in Seattle, I was shocked by two things: The first being all of the overweight people in the airport (the second being the punk teenagers walking around).
It really, REALLY put things in perspective.
Being on Body for Life has really put things in perspective too. About two weeks ago I went with my girlfriend to the eye doctor. As I was waiting in the lobby, all seven people in that room with me were obese. Every one of them. These were things I didn't notice before.
Another example of things I notice more since starting BFL...A woman I know at work says she doesn't like to drink water. Then a few weeks later tells me how her daughter, when she was in 7th grade, had a kidney stone. Direct connection to her mom not "liking" water? I'm sure it is.
And lastly, on free day when my girlfriend and I went out to a Japanese restuarant (with the cooking table) a woman and her 6 year old son were at our table. The woman says she doesn't want a salad, but wants two of the bowls of miso soup instead of one. Then the waitress turns to the woman's son next and the son says to the waitress "I don't like salad." Hhmmm.
The lesson I learned is how great of an influence you can have on others, especially children.
Body for Life has been a true blessing for me.
Have a good day all.

Okay, I don't have kids, and I have to say one of the reasons I'm terrified of ever having them is because it seems just about impossible to raise them the way you believe is right, especially when it comes to being healthy. I would love to not give my kids sugar until they are AT LEAST 7, because I honestly believe when you eat sugar at an early age, you become literally addicted to it. But I know plenty of folks in my own family who think that you're somehow taking away a kid's childhood if you don't give them candy and soda, so it would be pretty much impossible. I don't think the BFL way of eating is so radical or impossible at all, but there are SO many people in this country who think that going without soda or sugar or fast food or pizza a gazillion times a week is completely unnatural - when the fact is that eating that stuff is what is unnatural! I am terrified to raise a child in this culture, and I applaud all of you parents who somehow manage to do it. Bravo...you're all braver than I am!!
Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (837 posts) at 03:32 PM
I agree that raising children in a heathly environment is hard.
With my kids, I really don't limit much. I do tell them no, but I just don't offer what I don't want them to have. We don't have chips and cookies and candy in the house, for the most part. I live with my mom, so she will bring in these "unauthorized" snacks and they will have them, but it is usually few and far between.
I think I must have some of the least picky eaters because my kids will generally eat what I serve or they don't eat (rule in the house). I will take them for fast food (maybe 1x/week) and I will let them have soda then too. I do request for it to be a diet soda, but they like it better and see me drinking it, so the diet part is probably imitating me.
My oldest loves any carb--bread, rice, pasta, potatoes....carb lover. But he will eat the salad or vegetables and meat offered. He may eat all carbs one night, all meat the next and all veggies another. Overall, he balances himself out. But he is always OFFERED a pretty balanced meal. My youngest loves fruits and veggies and will pig out on those before touching carbs or meat. They love salad, they love broccoli, they love tomatoes. They will even eat spinach, asparagus, and collard greans. Sometimes cabbage. All fruit is a hit with them, especially mandarian oranges.
My kids are in daycare so the meals aren't as great as I would like for them to be, but they are okay. My kids end up eating second helpings of the fruit and veggies when the "main course" is something icky when most of the other kids turn up their nose completly because it isn't their chicken nuggets or mac and cheese or hot dogs. I don't have control over what they eat in daycare (well, I do, but I choose to send them there and have the daycare make the choice of the meal and snack) so I do control what they eat at home.
We hardly EVER have mac and cheese (ew) and never hot dogs (double ew). I don't like to buy processed food because I don't like to eat it....that means no nuggets, no fish sticks or pizza.
If my kids ask for candy and it is available, I usually will say yes. Because they don't ask often. They CAN have it, therefor it is not that appetizing.
I went to high school with a girl who was training for Olympic swimming. Her parents controlled every aspect of her life, including what she ate. They sent her to school with the same lunch everday....which she hated. They didn't care, it was "good for her" and that was it. She sold her lunch...everyday....to someone so she could buy a salad from the salad bar. Clearly there were other issues of control in her family, but because her parents said NO all the time, she would rebel and did what she wanted. (She still made the olympic trials.)
Food is not something I want to make a "problem" in my house. I just want to give my children the tools. They are already naturally making some choices themselves for the better. Its being the role model that is the problem!
I don't know what my point is....just rambling I think.
Raising children is hard...in all aspects.
:)

Hey Hillary, I don't have kids yet either...*wink wink*
I'm joking (my girlfriend reads this site too so if I don't come back you guys know what happened to me)
I have a cousin who is a month older than me (Brendan) and another that is a year younger than me (Paul). So back when we were younger like in elementary school, when we had family events going on the three of us would always be together.
Well, me and Paul would always eat chocolate and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pies (Hostess pudding pies) and Brendan wouldn't have any of it. All he wanted was to eat celery and cucumber. We're like "WTF is wrong with you?" lol. Well, it was because growing up all my aunt fed him was healthy food and a lot of vegetables. So he grew up actually PREFERRING that over junk food and sweets.
A woman on the bodyforlife.com Guestbook said that when we have kids, to start them eating right from the very start. She said it's a lot easier than trying to change your teenagers bad eating habits and added "trust me, I would know."
Just a little insight for ya. Good luck.

Getting on Tracker is like visiting with the coolest family members in the world...I was really surprised, too, when I first came in...
Yeah, I'm hooked. I get on here practically every day. I was really tired of the web for a while and I wasn't into anything on it until this. The positivity is so great here...seems like everybody wants everybody else to win in life....I guess that comes from BFL being such a positively-focused program in general... How could you not be addicted to that?

You are not alone, I dream about working out and eating EFL. I'm on tracker all the time - my computer's in the main room and I walk through here all day and just check in to see what's going on.
After we all get our BFL, then we're going to need a detox program for this addiction.

I work out at home. I have dumbbells and two benches, plus a treadmill and an elliptical trainer for the cardio. It works out great because I work from home, too. I wake up a bit earlier, work out, and then turn on the computer and start my workday.
Body for Life Forum Message by TJ (632 posts) at 06:37 AM
Okay, I read two separate topics in your original post.
The best type of equipment to buy would have to cover lifting and cardio (unless you do your cardio outside). So a CrossBow or BowFlex or similar piece will work fine… as will adjustable dumbbells. I have a CrossBow and PowerBlocks and both work well.
Second, in my opinion (and I am not trying to be rude) you are focusing on the obstacles to your transformation rather than the results of your transformation… a totally natural and understandable condition. During the challenge, things get difficult. We are being challenged to change our lifestyle. We are changing the way we live and unfortunately, our bodies and minds resist the changes. Change makes us uncomfortable… until we achieve our goals… then the obstacles look like pebbles in our path.
Whatever you do, workout at home or at the Y, stay focused on your goals. Keep the faith and feel comfort in the knowledge that you can do it and that you have an entire cheering section rooting for you… all of us! Good luck! TJ

I work out at home because my gym doesn't have daycare. I weights ranging from 3 to 35 pounds, a soloflex that my husband has had for 12 years, and a spin bike. I put my workout clothes on straight out of bed so I don't have an excuse. If I run out of time to do it before I take my oldest to preschool, then I do it when my youngest is having her morning nap.
Good luck, Brandy

I workout at home too. I find it easier than when I belonged to a gym because I only have to go into the spare room to workout. I don't have to worry about crowded gyms and waiting to use equipment. I have a treadmill, Powerblocks, a bench and a stability ball. I find I can get a very good workout with these basics. I think later on for challenge 2 I might look into getting a Bowflex or something similar.

I also workout at home..to me it's almost easier than going to a gym. What I need is right there. I don't have to hop into the car, find a place for the kids etc to work out.
The only thing I have is a treadmill, which I just got in September. Like a PP said, my treadmill was one that they no longer wanted so I got it so cheap. I also have some hand weights and just some workout videos.
I had a Curves membership at one time, but I honestly like working out at home better. Sure, not as many options on the equipment but this works too.
As for motivation to work out...you've got tracker! If you feel yourself losing that motivation, write a post and everyone here will pump you right back up. I did that about a week ago, and my the responses were amazing. It's an amazing group here :)

I personally LOVE the gym. I like the atmosphere, and the people there. BUT I do have emergemcy workout stuff at home. Dumbells- 5, 10, 15, 20, 25. I either use my coffee table as a bench or I sit on an exercise ball for some stuff. You could get away with doing everything w.just a set of dumbells but I prefer the variety the gym has to offer. Also I can't run outside in the winter because I have trouble breathing. I am saving up for a REAL treadmill but the one I want os 3000, so I am stuck with the gym one. Be careful if you're gonna buy cardio equipment- I once bought a hoe treadmill for $500.00, and it made SO much noise I couldnt listen to music or watch TV while I ran. And, it annoyed my parents, so they made me put it in the basement.... NOT a place I looked forward to hanging out, so I didnt ever use it. Just make sure you will use whatever you buy all the time and not get bored. :O)

I guess I just thought if I'd set up at home it would mean absolutely no excuses! I'm sure I'd come up with some but there would be no could answer because the answer would be in my basement!

I think you are doing really well! You've already lost alot of weight for three weeks and body fat as well. If I were you I'd stay patient and just wait for the changes to occur. Believe in youreslf and this program and the changes you want will come.

I just checked your profile. Am I missing something? You look great already. And in the 3 weeks that you've been on the program, you've already made tremendous progress. Whatever you're doing, keep at it. Things will only improve with time.
My advice is to wait and be patient. I heard that for most women, the transformation doesn't become evident until weeks 6-8. Just follow the program and you won't be disappointed.

I wish I had one. Sometimes it gets dangerous without one for exercises such as barbell press or seated DB military press to really push me well over a 10!!! Well beyond the point of failure!!!!!
Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (399 posts) at 06:28 AM
If you have access to one, use the Smith machine for some of these exercises. I always feel more comfortable knowing that I can clip the bar on the hooks if need be.
Body for Life Forum Message by TNT~Rex (1261 posts) at 07:50 AM
Yes having a workout partner is GREAT to help push you past your limits and spot you while doing so.
If you don't and you workout at a gym sometimes you can ask someone who is working out as well. Once I got over the fear factor of asking, I was pleasantly surprised at how helpful they were.
Body for Life Forum Message by chantal2bfit (96 posts) at 08:50 AM
I've seen people ask gym employees to spot them. Maybe you can ask them at your gym?
Body for Life Forum Message by Joe (150 posts) at 11:05 AM
Here is what I do since I hardly ever have a spotter.
1) Use smith machine when I can (At my gym there is always someone using it)
2) I do what is called the 20 second 'self spot' (for bench press mostly) When I am doing the last two sets (6 reps and 12 reps to get to my 10's) and I can't push out those last reps to really get myself up to a 10 ... I place the weight on the 'hooks' for 20 seconds and I count out 1-20, then I blow out those last couple of reps. It is a safer way to get my sets done, without a spotter and still meet my BFL goals.
Trust me it works, I have goen up in bench every couple of weeks since I started doing that.
I don't do military press (bad shoulder) and my surgeon would kill me if I had to go back to him to fix it after he explicitly told me no military press! There are plenty of exercises you can do that work the same muscles without creating a 'full fulcrum motion' on your shoulder, so I do those instead.

I went and looked at your profile, and I AM SO ENCOURAGED!!! I have a lot of weight to lose, and you make me think I can do it! Do not worry about inches not moving, your body fat is down to 19.5! that is awesome!!!! and that has decreased a lot since you started. Just give your body some time, rest well, and keep doing what has worked for you so well!
Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (310 posts) at 08:21 AM
It could just be slight variations in how you're measuring. If you're losing body fat, you must be losing inches somewhere!

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Anyone else tired all the time?
I am not sure if this is BFL related or not. But I am SO tired by 8pm that is is often VERY hard for me to stay awake. If I am able to stay awake and don't go to bed, then I suffer big time the next day.
I have a busy schedule (like most people) working, being a single parent of 2 children (ages 4 and 2) and I go to college full time. Once I put my children to bed, I have complete school work and any other household duties. When I am able to stay awake, it is not unusual for me to stay away until 12 or 1am.
I have been doing this for about 2 years (Done in APRIL!). When I have a late night, I retire early the following night so that I can function. When I do sleep, I sleep like a log. If the kids wake up, I don't hear them. Many times I will wake up to find them in the bed with me, but have no clue how or when they got there.
I am just wondering if this sleep problem is happening to anyone else. I didn't notice it through my first challenge at all. But since beginning this challenge, if I allow my head to hit a pillow after 8pm, I WILL be alseep for the rest of the night. I don't work out in the mornings, so I am able to sleep until about 6am.
Even after these LONG nights, I feel a little out of sorts all day. As if I could take a nap at any time.
Any thoughts? It is getting a little annoying because I know I am sleeping. Not to mention I am not getting my work done like I should be! I am so close to finishing, I don't want to mess up now!
Teresa
Body for Life Forum Message by TNT~Rex (1261 posts) at 08:49 AM
Oh gaaawwddd yes, but then I lay down to go to sleep and I am so tired I can't sleep!
Many variables to look at:
Are you tired all day too? Like can't move tired? Just don't want to do a dang thing?
Are your workouts extremely intense? If so how long have you been going at it like this? Are you noticing issues in your workouts? Like lifting less weight? Just feeling dizzy and really like it is the last place you want to be?
If you have been training like mad you could be over-trained. And when I say mad I mean intense crazy workouts. Also your late nights are probably not helping. I know if I am not in bed by 11 pm it's gonna make for a very hard day. My workouts take everything out of me. I am also up between 6-7 am every morning. And I am not even doing intense cardio at the moment. I added a longer morning cardio to my routine and phew I was out to lunch for the whole day. I know I do my best getting to be by 10 pm but with a family sometimes that just is not possible. But I make it a point to drop everything I am doing by 11 to get my hiney up to bed. If that means clean dishes in the morning thats what it means. It's amazing what that extra hour or 2 of sleep will do for you.
Hope this is of some help to you.

Not tired all day like I can't move, but not full of energy either. At the moment I am really disliking my job....I am sure this is a contributing factor.
My cardio is intense. I am trying to focus on intensity and correct form in my weights, so they are as intense as I would like for them to be. And yes, I am not progressing with my weights as I thought...things I could do last go round, I cannot lift now. Still lifting the same I was in week 1, just about. And it is still hard.
I don't feel like I am doing anything above and beyond what BFL calls for. I am doing no extra workouts and just trying my hardest to hit my 10's.
Not dizzy, but during weights, I am thinking...."when will this be over" :)
Overtrained?
Teresa
Body for Life Forum Message by TNT~Rex (1261 posts) at 09:39 AM
My guess would be trying to make it to bed a little earlier maybe the few extra hours of sleep can help. And yes the mental aspect of disliking your job could be draining. But you also have a lot going on school/family/job/working out. That is a lot on your plate.
If you can wing it I would try the be in by bed by 11 thing. But I completely understand the school thing. My husband is in grad school and he most of the time is not in bed until 1 and sometimes 2 am. You can't control that esp. when you add family into the factor. Maybe just lower the intensity on your cardio workouts? I mean still do HIIT but try a different variable like 2min @ your level 6 and then 2 min at your level 8-9 and also just a notch below the intensity level you are doing now.
The Intense cardio thing can be taxing on you and interfere with your weight training. (Oh boy I am gonna get tarred and feathered for that statement.) And make you very tired. Just try scaling it down a notch maybe that will help? Just advice. And try if you can to get a little more sleep.
Work hard, workout even HARDER!-T
Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (837 posts) at 09:46 AM
I appreciate the advice.
But if you are still hitting your level 6,7,...etc. and 10's....isn't that naturally intense?
And yes, I have lots on my plate. I cannot express to anyone how EXCITED I will be when school is over. I have been working on a stinkin Bachelors degree for 10 years...on and off. I was 20 credit shy of graduating when I got pregnant and married (yes, out of order). So now I play catch up.
I will try to park my rear in bed by 11am. Might help me focus on school work too if I know I have a deadline.
Thanks,
Teresa

Tiredness and fatigue is a common symptom of stress, especially if you are unhappy at your job that may be a factor. For me, it was THE factor, I was constantly tired no matter how much I slept, and really hated my job. Since quitting I am now full of energy again and raring to go.
Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (837 posts) at 11:19 AM
The job itself is not stressful. In fact, there is anything but stress here....except my dislike for it. I am bored bored bored bored all day. This is why I end up sitting on the tracker all day long.
I took the job when I moved here because I HAD to have something and I knew I would be in school, so I needed something that would pay me decent and be brainless. Well, the brainless part is what is getting old.
I am looking, but I don't think it would be fair to the kids to add another factor (new job stress) until I actually have more time. So starting a new job will have to wait until April. I am looking though! ;)
I am going to try to really focus on school and sleep the next couple of weeks to see if this makes a difference for me!

Body for Life Forum Message by TNT~Rex (1261 posts) at 02:00 PM
The only reason I said about moving the intensity of the cardio down a notch so that you are still performing HIIT just not at a such an intense level to adjust your body before you do become extremely fatigued. So that you can continue with your program. It is only temporary until you feel your energy levels go back up and your ready to rock n roll again. A preventative measure if you will. I thought I would explain the reasoning behind it. Personally, for me if I were feeling the way you are (everyone break out the tar and feathers) I would lay off HIIT completely and just do a low intensity cardio for 30 min on cardio days until I started feeling more energy, and eat squeaky clean.
The reason I did not ask about diet is because it does not sound like you are restricting carbs or none of that biz right ;-). You said your eating straight up BFL. So diet should not be the issue.
Though I bet a few good nights of rest and consistency in that will help a lot. ;-)
Take care!-T
Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (837 posts) at 02:41 PM
No, not restricting carbs any....but my diet is plain...this is what I eat. Everyday, except Saturday and even then, it is the basics, just mixed up some.
Meal 1: 2 low fat moz cheese sticks, apple
Meal 2: 6 egg whites, 1 packet plain oatmeal (not flavored, just reg oatmeal in individual portions, I flavor with 2 splenda packets)
Meal 3: Myoplex Lite
Meal 4: 4 oz chicken, 1/2 cup brown rice and spinach
Meal 5: Repeat Meal 4
Meal 6: Myoplex Lite (although somedays I don't even get this in, but I try)
I might be low in calories since I am supposed to have 2000 calories for my weight to lose. I think this is about 1800 calories with a 39carb/46protein/15fat mix.
Although sometimes I have some peanuts (1 ounce max per day--yes, I measure them) and that adds another 200 calories and about another 5 % of fat.

Hey TC! I feel for you. When was the last time you had your blood checked for iron? I only ask this because I have been too tired to move for over a year and recently found out it was due to anemia. Now I'm on a mega prescription iron/vitamin pill once a day and after only 2 weeks I already feel like a new person. Just a thought . . .
Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (837 posts) at 02:57 PM
Probably the last time I gave blood. My iron levels are always a little low. This is why I eat spinach every day. I hate the iron pills.
I haven't ever been too low, but always on the lower end.

My cardio is deteriorating. I'm finding it extremely difficult to do even my normal cardio routine without stopping. Typically, I warm up at 4.0, then change to 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 with 7.0 being my high point. The last 3 cardios, I've struggled immensely with it and today I had to even back it down to 5, 5.3, 5.6, 5.9 because I thought my heart was gonna pop out of my chest...but still pulled out the 7.0 high point.
Now, I have exercise-induced asthma (EIA for short from now on) but have not had this much trouble in years really. Could it be something with my diet? Maybe its just me. Any suggestions, thoughts, comments, questions?????

Are you doing this in a fasted state? If yes then try eating before or having a whey protein shake with fruit.
Maybe your intervals are to high for you at this moment in your program? Sometimes we tend to get ahead of ourselves. I know I experienced the same thing and I as I started to feel better in my program I was off to the races. Not realizing my body had not caught up with my mental feelings.
I also experienced EIA when allergies were very high here. Which also made me feel that way while doing cardio. When you are having respiratory problems it will cause those symptoms you described as well.
Many variables to look at. Hope it gets better.

I know my intervals aren't too high for me as I've done them with ease for the last 3 years (I use the term ease somewhat loosely.)
Now, when I restarted doing my BFL program 3 weeks ago, I backed it back down a bit for the first week, but then the second week was back to normal. It's just this week that I'm having troubles. It's just strange to me that cardio is bad but weights are rockin'....
Yes, I do all my workouts in a fasting state, especially my cardio. I can't run after I've eaten. I feel sick when I try...

I go to school at night. This semester, I am taking Chemistry in preparation for nursing school. I go to 1 hour of peer tutoring, a 2 hour lecture followed by a 1.5 hour lab. Most of the people in my class are also there the same length of time.
So, I eat a mid-meal in the car on the way to tutoring. Then, I bring my dinner with me to eat on the 5-10 minute break between lecture and lab. Out of the 40 people in my class, do you know I am the ONLY person who eats on the break! I felt SO STUPID last night shoving my salad into my mouth in the hallway while everbody else was waiting for lab to start. People were looking at me like there was something wrong with me!
I will continue to bring my dinner, maybe I will start a trend and other people will shove their dinners down their throats in the science hallway.
Has anybody else had that feeling that everyone is looking at them funny while doing BFL?

Not only looks, but comments... for the rest of the guys at work here, it has been quite an adjustment that my co-worker/workout partner and I have been on this new lifestyle/eating style. We got a lot more teasing (it was good natured, just in fun) our very first week, back when everybody didn't think we were serious about it.
The comments are kinda funny, too. For instance: there's this "man's man" kinda guy that happened to stop by on a delivery and notice that I was eating my usual mid-morning cottage cheese/yogurt meal...he said, "Cottage cheese?! Man, that's feminine." I just kinda laughed and told him there's bodybuilders who could take on him, me and everybody seated at the table-at once....and they eat fat-free cottage cheese.
Hey pal, clog up YOUR arteries with all that manly food. I'll see how well you're doing in about 10 years when you get that manly bill from the manly cardiac care ward of the manly hospital.

My stomach still feels pretty gross whenever I eat anything, and I just don't have the energy to workout. Today is the first day I've eaten cleanly BFL (meaning something other than clear liquids). I'm not giving up, but I need some help getting back my motivation.
Has anyone else had to recover from being sick, and how long did it take you? Did you just get back on track despite feeling crappy? Help!
Heather

I got hella cold about a week ago and it knocked me out, so I can relate- I couldnt do cardio because of the hacking cough and the runny nose, and my food intake suffered because of the sore throat...wait until you feel better and just put it behind you...:)

Hi Heather! I suffered from a serious illness back in September (viral meningitis) and I was out of it until late November!! So, yes, I know what you're going through. If you are still not able to keep anything down, then take enough time to let your body heal!! DOn't feel guilty for missing a couple days here and there. By forcing yourself to workout anyway, your body isn't functioning at optimal performance and that could impede your ability to recover. I know how my body reacts, if I force myself to workout when sick, i just get worse first. Of course, every body is different - some may disagree and workout despite feeling crappy but I know for me, I can't do that. Good luck, you will get back on track!!

I started my challenge on the second of January and was doing great with the exercise and eating until last week. I recently moved into a new house and managed to eat pretty clean for the past 2 weeks. However I have not been working out , I just cannot seem to pull my self out of bed in the morning. I don't know why and it really irratates me, I even moved the alarm across the room! I can feel the effects of not working out already, I get sleepy in the afternoon and I don't see any more weight loss. Should I start over? Or press on with my challenge? I have literaly missed a whole week of exercise.

Just my opinion here - but don't start over. A week isn't that much. Keep pushing forward. You've done well so far and got a little sidetracked. No big deal. Unless you are really gunning for $1MIL - I would say just hop back up on the wagon and keep going. Maybe do a little extra cardio or something. Good luck!

BGrego, hey listen, thats happened to all of us. That happened to me my first challenge this past October but I finished with pretty good results. Now I am on my second consecutive challenge and it's much easier the second time around to remain focused because of the results and the way I feel! Just get your ass out of bed and do it! I meant that in a nice way!!!!! LOL

I vote for keep moving forward. Maybe mornings are not working for you right now. Find another time of the day that does? Just as long as you get it done that day. Keep eating clean and just keep moving forward. So what if your workouts are not through the roof in this time of transition at least you get to the gym lift what you can, do what you can and when the dust settles ramp it up again. Bottom line just get to the gym at some point during the day. Even if your tired I can't tell you how many times I go to the gym t'words the end of the week and I am exhausted from my w-outs & by the time I get through a first set of exercises I start to wake up and feel great. So what if early AM workouts are not working right now. You have a whole 20 other hours to chose from. The important thing is just get in there. ;-)
Moving and transitions can be strenuous on someone's workouts esp. if your the one doing the moving. Late nights organizing things adjusting.... so what I am saying it would be better to to do what you can when you can and making it a priority everyday when it is possible at this time. It's better than saying all or nothing. And continue to eat clean!
Work hard, workout even HARDER!-T

Keep going! If you find your current situation as a good enough reason to start over, that’ll make starting over during the next challenge too easy. If you quit and restart once, quitting and restarting after ANY adversity becomes easier. It’s a trap I hope you stay away from.
You made a commitment to yourself to finish. You never promised yourself that you’d have 6% body fat or win the challenge. You promised yourself you’d finish. So keep your promise to yourself. Do the best you can and finish. You’ll gaze back on your journey and be proud of what you accomplished! Never… never give up! TJ

The challenge really isn't about 12 weeks unless you want it to be.

i agree, dont start over, im in my 6th week and have missed some days due to the flu/christmas, etc. but i keep going because i think i would get discouraged if i knew i didnt finish. even if i dont do it perfect every single day atleast at the end of the 12 weeks i can say i accomplished something and have that as motivation to keep going.

Thank you all for the advice, and I am going to stick with it. TJ You are right it is a trap and makes it easier to just start over any time I slip. I am glad that I asked this question! I am going to hit the ground running tomorrow morning! Thank you all again for the great advice. :)

WOO HOO I got my blue bracelet today from the julie whitt website. First thing i did was put it on! Its staying there baby!
I'll admit I needed a good shove, its TOM and I'm feelin sluggish this week. Although, I'm still getting in my workouts and eating clean.
Anyway, these bracelets are available at the Julie Whitt store for $5.00. I believe a very small price to pay for the meaning behind them.
YAY!!! Have a great day!

I just bought 4 of them. I plan to wear one and give one to my husband (also doing BFL) then the other two will go to someone that I hope to inspire to start BFL! I dont know who that is yet, but I trust they will happen upon me soon.

"The path to success is to take massive, determined action."
-Anthony Robbins
What I take from this quote is that what we do with BFL is to wake up every day and know what our actions will be. It is directed toward taking steps that make us healthy. Being healthy is not a destination but a series of steps. Without the plan I would be lost. Or at least not as focused and therefore not as healthy.
I see my success not only defined by the attainment of goals but by grasping the nature of what BFL is. A natural, healthy, determined/focused way of living.
I am grateful to have found it.....and I am grateful to have the support of this community in my efforts.
Have a great day!

After seeing a few posts today I thought I would pass on something very valuable that I started to put together in my head and also what I am learning from my Best Friend. She is a PT. It's all about the working out thing.
The thing is yes we all live life. We have so many different things going on in our lives. And sometimes life on the other end of the spectrum gets busy and hectic. As Bill likes to say "Life happens." Well, I am one of those with an all or nothing attitude. And it seems to some degree a lot of us are. So when things don't happen exactly the way I planned them I tend to get frustrated. Then I fall into the let's eat whatever. Or let's not workout. Whatever?
The thing is "life" is always changing on us. Things get in the way. Sometimes you are more tired than usual etc... instead of stopping why not change the way you are working out? Maybe instead of early morning make it in the afternoon so you can catch an extra hr. of sleep? Who knows your body may need it. Maybe when this funk comes on workout a little less intense. Whatever it is that will make you feel better and keeps you consistently working out. Adapting to not only schedule changes but also to your physical changes.
Yes we all get into the intensity thing. But sometimes "life happens" and wouldn't you agree that moving forward a little more slowly would be better than just quitting, pausing, or just having lapses of up up and down down. I know there is a competition going on but how are you going to preform if you push your self way beyond your limits and then beat yourself up for it. What I am saying is a so so workout is better than no workout at all. And eating clean is the key of course but if you mess up keep going and eat clean super clean. It happens and you are disciplining yourself for a life like this. No one likes to feel like they have failed over and over again. I fell into this trap one to many times and finally I am getting it.
I take one day at a time now. I don't think of 12 weeks from now. I think of today and todays workout. And then in the evening sometimes I even start focusing on my next workout. Having a plan is key! And doing your personal best for that day and those circumstances is key as well. Learning to ADAPT to any situation is the key to success, and yes that means even when adversity strikes.
Work hard, workout even HARDER!

Thanks T, I needed this 'little' talk. Just take it one day at a time, One meal at a time, one workout at a time. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
Body for Life Forum Message by FV Tom (179 posts) at 04:10 PM
crone, that is my philosophy exactly. I can't do all 72 workouts today. I can't eat all 432 meals today. Just one at a time.
Thanks, T. Great post!

I've been pretty happy the last couple of weeks to notice that my cheeks are getting slimmer - there's actually now some indentation underneath my cheekbones. For YEARS I would look in the mirror and suck in my cheeks real hard, just to try to see what I'd look like with some "shape" on my face. Gotta admit - I had to work that pretty hard to get some sense of thinness! Ugh.
But now, I look in the mirror, and I SEE IT!! It's there! (It will probably be difficult to see on my update photos later - I doubt that a camera four feet away can really capture what I'm talking about, but I'm just psyched that it's for real now.)
My fat is definitely coming off from the top down. Can't wait to see the indentation in my other cheeks! LOL!

I've read the Body-for-Life, Eating-for-Life and am in my fourth week of the Challenge. The more I hang out in this forum the more info I read but I don't know how to filter all the info I read. (Who's right, who's wrong? Who should I believe?) This is what I'm confused about. Some people say that the recipes in Eating-for-Life are more "lenient" than the tried and true original BFL Authorized Foods list. But the way I see it, a lot of the recipes in EFL do meet Bill's original authorized list with flavor so long as you use the correct portion size. With that said, why do those who think the EFL foods aren't as strict say they don't meet his original authorized foods? I guess the reason I'm asking this is because I want to know do people add seasonings and/or any kind of flavor to their authorized proteins? For example: how do people cook chicken? What do they add on it (if any)? Just Pam and no seasonings? If that is the case, then how do people find variety in their meals in the 12 weeks?
Sorry for the long paragraph and any comments/suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys!
Body for Life Forum Message by Kajole (48 posts) at 06:07 PM
From what i understand its just the portion size thats a little large in EFL, so use the fist rule and you should be fine :)
Body for Life Forum Message by FitForGood (52 posts) at 06:18 PM
I'm not michiganmike, but - some of the recipes in the EFL book contain things like cool whip, sour cream, reduced fat cheese, ketchup, BBQ sauce, fat free mayo, etc. None of those things are found on the authorized food list on page 83 of the BFL book. All those little things add up, and if the goal is to do the challenge hard-core, they are going to slow down your progress. But they also make the program a little easier to live with long term, so it's a choice on how aggresive you want to do the challenge.
Body for Life Forum Message by FitForGood (52 posts) at 06:22 PM
Oh - I forgot about this one. The EFL cheesecake - yummy, but there is no way that the graham cracker crust is anything but empty calories.
Body for Life Forum Message by WorkInProgress (195 posts) at 06:42 PM
Herbs and Spices are my new best friends - if I had to go 12 weeks with plain ole' baked chicken and fish, I'd go just a little cuck-oo! EFL is good, but keep the portion
