Hi! I am fairly new here. You'll see from my Bio that I have done BFL before and had really great results (while nursing) in 2001. After the brith of my #2 in 2003, I have never really gotten my body back. I kept thinking that my body was too used to BFL and I needed something different, I was wrong. Then I started a business and was so busy that exercising got pushed to the back burner and boy do I regret that. My before picture shocks me!
After about 3 weeks back on BLF, I can see a difference and I feel great! there is one little thing though...I found out I'm pregnant yesterday!
I am posting in this thread to give and get some advise. I did lift weights last time and kept most of my muscle, I also did some cardio....walking or eliptical machine or bike. I don't believe you should run while pregnant, it's uncomfortable for the Mom and all that bouncing can't feel good if you're on the inside either. I know they say you "can" run, but I wouldn't.
I thought I'd ask about weights, I wonder if it's safe to keep my weights the same and still do the same pyramid training?
Congrats Kris!

Hi Kelly,
I am a vegetarian (lacto-ovo; eat dairy/eggs) and for protien, I eat the Boca Burgers and find them to be very tatsy. Normally I'm in a rush at lunchtime, so I'll heat one in the microwave for 1 minute, spread it with Dijon Mustard, place it on a lettuce leaf with a slice of tomato, and it's my lunch!
As an aside, if you ever wonder what the nutrients of ANY food (in restaurants as well) might be, go to www.calorieking.com and you'll find everything you need!
Good luck!

Thanks, Jamber, Pixy and Minka. It's starting to make a little more sense.
Jamber, are you still doing a BFL-style workout and adding in this new chest routine or are you trying something new this challenge?
I've done one challenge "by the book" so I'm looking forward to tweaking things if necessary for this next challenge (which starts Monday). Minka, I'll definitely give your suggestion a try.

I'm pretty sure you're just losing water. =)
Body for Life Forum Message by Vix (32 posts) at 01:18 PM
I'd agree - your body sweats to keep itself warm - so the greater the perspiration the harder it is working to keep your body temperature down. Just make sure you are replacing your fluid loss: if your not sure weigh yourself before your workout and after and if there is a negative weight difference, drink that amount in water.

I think there must just be something about a great cardio workout for women......
after my cardio I have so many endorphines flowing it's unbelievable........my weight training just doesn't give me the same after effects.
am I alone???
or are there others out there like me?
Body for Life Forum Message by ashtrash (460 posts) at 01:47 PM
Its the same with me. Especially with sports. I am on such a high after a competitive game of basketball or volleyball. Or even an awesome run. I love it.
I don't quite get the same high after weight training, but I actually stand up taller and feel sexier after I weight train. So I love 'em both!
Body for Life Forum Message by Agent 69 (714 posts) at 02:02 PM
I got a great cardio workout in last night (because that's all I had time for)....I was supposed to do LBWO just couldn't spend 45 minutes at the gym
So, tonight I'll get in my LBWO and probably do about 15 minutes of lower impact cardio (tonight is pizza & movie night-----I have a DATE with my hubby)
I'll settle for 1 slice (I think the extra cardio will take care of that).
Body for Life Forum Message by Summer63 (5 posts) at 02:10 PM
I love cardio so much more than weight training probably because of the sweat factor. I feel I get a better workout because I'm breathing hard and dripping sweat.
While I do push myself for 10's with the weight training, it doesn't feel the same.
Body for Life Forum Message by Agent 69 (714 posts) at 02:12 PM

I'm confused on which myoplex to use. I'm a 30 year old woman wanting to loose 40 lbs. Does anyone know if the regualr Myoplex or Myoplex light is best?
Body for Life Forum Message by michiganmike (297 posts) at 09:31 PM
Myoplex lite is the best for women, no matter the age or the amount of weight you need to lose. It has 190 calories of perfectly balanced protein, carbs and good fat. You don't need the extra Myoplex you get in the regular packet, which is about 300 calories. The formula is the same, though, so if you have already purchased Myoplex, just use part of it per meal.

For the end of this challenge, My parents are buying me some nice new running shoes. They just don't know it yet... ;) (Brooks GTS5 - my favorites!!)
I'll also use the Old Navy Gift card I got for Christmas.
BUT...my FAVORITE reward this challenge so far was two weeks ago when i tried on my super cute, super sassy denim skirt. Yeah, it totally fit. I ran around the house in the skirt and a sports bra screamin, "IT FITS!!!!!!"
Yeah, that was the best reward ever. (That and i am wearin a pair of jeans today i haven't worn in about a year and a half...)

I got a kicka@@ black dress for a big soiree. I'm not much into clothes due to my career in an engineering office (haute coture is not the word of the day here) but I like buying things that flatter my new and improved figure as I get toward the end of my challenges. Zoo, it’ll be a mariner’s cross with waves crashing I from both sides of the cross. Within one wave is the negative of a shark and within the other is a negative of a dolphin. Underneath are the letters U.S.C.G. in mariner’s lettering. The artist has it now and should be done with the design in two weeks. It’ll be the brother to the one I got last year… a pissed off eagle bursting out of an American flag with the words “Freedom Isn’t Free” beneath.
Also, I just checked out your pictures… great job, man. GREAT JOB!

I haven't really rewarded myself in previous challenges - maybe that was part of the problem.
Last week I had a perfect week and I just bought a new pair of jeans, although shopping for them seemed more like punishment. This week's been 100% on food, but because I've been sick I haven't worked out, so I don't really feel like I've earned a reward this time. But my next reward will be something less stressful.

Ive done Mystic Tan 4 or 5 times when it 1st came out...It was OK, but I didnt like holding my breath or the smell that lingers with it. The color was pretty good (I used the darkest stuff they had)
Its really cheap out here-the most Ive seen it go for is $15/session

So as the night progressed I noticed a definite darkening especially on my face and chest! Today I have a nice golden tint.... they only sprayed me at the lowest setting, next time I'm going to have them do it darker... it looks REALLY good! I dont see any streaks at all save a tiny one between my fingers. I had fun checking myself out in the mirror this morning, its amazing how a little color makes you actually look thinner and brings out any definition! =) I hardly smell it... have to actually put my skin to my nose to smell anything.. and then, its not really a foul smell.. just smells like scentless lotion really....
I'm definitely recommending this to my fellow whities! lol

I actully do the Airbrush Tanning by hand in a salon. I have also fixed alot of tans that have been done in booth:(
The key to the booth is proper wiping yourself off.
Here are some tips to help with your spray tan (works with self tanners also)
1) Before your appt/applying wash with nothing but water and baking soda. (exfoliates really good for like .40 a box)
2) Do not wear any lotion, make up or deoderant when you go (if possible) these put a barrier on skin, so you may not get an even tan
3) Don't shower for at least 6-8 hours,,if you can stand the smell sleep in it:)
4) DO NOT USE DOVE PRODUCTS,,this will leave you spotted and destroy your fake tan
5) Keep lotion on,after your shower, before bed ect,,,,It will make your tan last longer and fade evenly. Self tanners dry your skin out more than normal!!
Hope these tips keep your tan longer

Actually, the place where I got my Mystic Tan recommended NOT using any products that contain mineral oil. That wipes out a lot of lotions. My favorite is Lubriderm....out.

maybe, until you get to the doc, try drinking some cranberry juice..it REALLY does work and it will help until you can get to the doc

I was admitted for ignorning symptoms of a kidney infection: high fever, chills (associated with fever) lower back pain, pain during urination, feeling like you have to go every 5 minutes than you confuse it with having to #2...it's horrible. It will only get worse if you ignore it. Make a doctor appt and they will give you a Rx for an antibiotic.

Hello everyone,
I have not seen a forum for people that have a whole person to lose. So I decided to start one. I have to lose 165lbs which is so funny because it is a little over what my mother weighs. So far I am on my second week and doing great in my exercise. I need to work on my meals some more. I loaned my Eating for Life book to a friend of mine and I have been asking for it back for 3 months now and still no success. I refused to buy another book since I have one already. I am going over there today to get my book if its the last thing I do. Today, I am not feel well so I am not going to work. I just needed some encouragement because I am a having some health issues that are driving me crazy.
Body for Life Forum Message by mshaun (39 posts) at 06:03 AM
Sandie, I don't have quite as much weight to lose but I wanted to offer my support. Even though you may have a harder journey remember: Your payoff is going to be so much sweeter! Best of luck to you Sandiepooh.
Body for Life Forum Message by Pan (63 posts) at 06:13 AM
Dear sandiepooh,
I started off the challenge at 35% bf. If you look at my before pic it will scare you.
I am finishing week 10 tomorrow. One of my highest motivations is the great people on this site.
Stick with your bfl program and your friends and we will support you in any way possible.
There is a champion on this site (jim shelton) who was over 300lbs, you should take a look at him now.
If your like me you may need more than one challenge to reach your goals, and thats not a bad thing, remember my friend, this is for LIFE.
God bless from Cyprus
Pan
p.s just follow the program to a T, dont worry about the eating for life book, the portions in their are too big anyway, just use the book!!
Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (412 posts) at 06:30 AM
Glad to see another GA girl on the board! Your story reminds me of something Stephen Cater (2002 champ) always says on the BFL guestbook....you don't have over 100 pounds to lose. You only have two pounds to lose. Then you only have two more pounds to lose.....and so on.
I agree with Pan...get started using the BFL book food lists now. If you need some recipes from EFL to keep you going until you get your book back, I'm sure there are plenty of people here who would email you a few.
Body for Life Forum Message by alvindsv (166 posts) at 06:37 AM
Sandy: I have a small supermodel to lose....does that count? I started this challenge at 261 and desire to get to 170, a loss of 91 lbs. However, the more I learn about fat versus muscle, my goal is no longer to weigh a certain number, but rather to carry around a certain amount of bodyfat, i.e. bodyfat percentage.
I applaud your motivaton to go get your book back. To achieve your goals you have to make this a MUST!
Stay with it, even when you don't feel like it. A quote I got from Bill Phillips that has helped me alot is "The last thing you want to do is often the first thing you NEED to do."
Lastly, stay on this site. Ask questions, post your obsticles, cry out for help if necessary. This is a great group of people here, and they all want to see you succeed.
Stay the Course
Brian

But then again, there are lots of people on this board with weight to lose and bodies to improve who are inspirations in many different ways.
Good luck.

Another great person to take a look at is Mina Hobbi. She was one of the Champs in 2000 I believe. She lost near 100 lbs in that time. I applaud you for starting this journey, keep in mind it is for LIFE and you will be all set, it didnt come on overnight it wont come off overnight
good luck!
Body for Life Forum Message by TJ (639 posts) at 07:13 AM
Sandi, I lost in the triple digits BUT I did not lose it overnight. It took me a while to put it on and about three challenges to strip it back off. The greatest knowledge behind that transformation is that I know my weakness… I know my struggles… I know the troubles I encountered… and I did it anyway. I also understand that if I can get it done, YOU can get it done! Stay focused on your goals and do it!
Body for Life Forum Message by GetNFit (828 posts) at 07:15 AM
Sandie, I want to congratulate you on taking that 1st step to make that 1000 mile trip! Good for you!
A few years ago I was pushing 300 pounds and now I float around 236, so I still have a good 100 pounds to lose myself. However, like Alvindsv, I am trying to focus more on my body fat percentage (I think it's around 52% - 54% right now). The scales are so depressing!!! But if you can get rid of your bodyfat, then you've done the right thing.
Just remember, the Greek or Hebrew defenition of sacrifice is this: Giving up something LESSOR to gain something GREATER!!!!!!!
Knowing this true defenition of sacrifice makes sacrifice not so scary!!!
Enjoy your journey!!!!
Keep Pump'n

Hi Sandie! I had to laugh when I read your post. I have a 3rd or 4th grader to lose I guess (what do kids weigh anyway?). At any rate, when I wrote my long distance BF after week 3 and told him I had lost 9 pounds he responded "Wow, that's a whole baby!" It made me laugh.
I think what everyone has said here is so great. One pound at a time. One meal, one workout, one glass of water at a time. I am in week 5 and already can't imagine going back to the way I was living and I want this to be for life, as it was intended. So if I don't shed all 43 pounds in this challenge I certainly will make more progress in the next.
And everyone is right about another thing, too. This is a great site for support, inspiration and encouragement. And quite a few laughs too!
Go for it!!!!

I made the mistake of trying to watch this last night even though I should have taped it and gone to bed at my normal time. Of course I fell asleep on the couch 20 minutes into it. Now I'm dying to find out how they figured it all out? Can someone please help me? :-)
Body for Life Forum Message by SupaFreak (1067 posts) at 07:16 AM
I did the same thing with ER! I wanted to watch it sooo bad even thought it was WAY past my bedtime. Luckily, my husband got sick of my alarm clock this morning and he got me up!
I DVRed CSI, so I can't tell you how it ended!

found it------I just love the way Grissom handles criminals.
couldn't believe he asked
"what was it that got him caught?"
hello, you kill two people and you think it's gonna go un-noticed.
Criminals-----are stupid, they all EVENTUALLY get caught

Have all you CSI-ites checked out Forensic Files on Court TV? CSI gets a lot of their story ideas from that show - which is the original material in all their detail-oriented glory.
And I can't get enough of either of those shows.
Also - what do people think of CSI: Miami and NY?
Body for Life Forum Message by Agent 69 (714 posts) at 11:22 AM
I love all the Crime Drama shows
I do watch forensic files, it comes on when I'm home for lunch; I'd rather watch that than a soap opera or Judge Mathis.

Are the Miami and NY shows much different from the original?

Hmmmm...Willowgerl, I can't find the episode name. It aired back in June, so if they are filming new episodes, the one we were in is probably only on as a repeat.
The story line was about a guy in Carmel Indiana (the next town over) that killed and buried his wife in his back yard. Search Dogs were used to try to find her, but ultimately, the psychic helped find the body.
Pretty cool

How many girls are trying to lose "baby fat"
Body for Life Forum Message by Kristalyn (13 posts) at 10:14 AM
I don't know if you call mine babyfat anymore or not - my baby just turned four. My second baby was when I gained the weight. I was lucky with my first one and went right back to my old weight and old clothes almost by the time I left the hospital. NOT SO LUCKY with #2! She leaves her mark wherever she goes, and she started with me. That changes with this challenge!

Hey desperatemama, my kids are that close - 17 months apart. I won't lie to you, it's tough, but it is so worth it seeing them grow up together. I wouldn't go back and do it any other way. They are 4 and 5 now, and they really started playing together really well at about 3-4. You'll love it!
I'm really excited about being on this team - all you girls rock - and I really don't like using that word. I checked out all your profiles, and I think we have a great team! GO TEAM#7!!!

Body for Life Forum Message by desperatemama (5 posts) at 06:14 PM
Thanks for the encouragement Kristalyn. It is pretty tough right now. I'm not only doing this challenge to lose the baby fat, but also to get my mind right again. I was on the brink of "losing it" for a while there and feeling really depressed. Amazing how that can happen even when deep down inside I know how truly blessed I am. I am always happy to hear that this will get easier. We are hoping these girls will grow up to be best friends.
Kajole, how did you do it with 2 being 11 months apart-----yikes.
I will be measuring, weighing and posting new pictures within the next 3 days. Weight and measures are tomorrow, but I need my husband around to help with the pictures and that will be a couple of days.
Go Team. This will be fun!!!

I am getting frustrated only seeing one or two pounds coming off each week. I am seeing some differences on my measurements, which means I am getting smaller, but I would feel a whole lot better if I knew I was losing body fat.
Shawn
Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (347 posts) at 11:31 AM
The scales that measure body fat are rarely accurate and are often more frustrating than a scale that just measures weight. Your best option is Accumeasure calipers, or one of the web sites that calculate it based on your measurements (the sites aren't totally accurate either, but better than the scales -- fittogether.com is about 3% higher than my Accumeasure calipers for me). At the very least, the sites can show you a downward trend more accurately than the scales, which will vary widely depending on the time of day and your level of hydration.
However, 1-2 pounds each week is exactly where you SHOULD be, and if you're doing that, there's no reason to be frustrated, you should be thrilled! It is a good idea to use the scale, measurements, body fat, and the fit of your clothes all together to measure your progress, but there is NO reason to be frustrated by losing 1-2 pounds per week!
Jess
Body for Life Forum Message by stn53 (3 posts) at 11:40 AM
It is frustrating because the first week, I lost a lot of weight, then I have just been slowly loosing weight. If the 1-2 pounds is exactly where I want to be, then how come the pictures in the books shows incredible weight loss. Surly they had lost more than 1-2 pounds each week. Even on Biggest Loser the people were losing a lot of weight each week.
I am grateful for the 1 or two pounds, but I would like to lose 30 pounds. I guess I just need to do 2 twelve week challenges.
Shawn
Body for Life Forum Message by ashtrash (460 posts) at 12:16 PM
The people on Biggest Loser worked out all day, ate very low calories, had personal trainers, and basically had nothing else to do but workout. So don't go by them. (unless that's all you do everyday, too!)But htose of us that aren't at the ranch...
You are right on track! You probably lost a lot of water weight that first week and you are now losing at a rate that the weight will stay off. Isn't that the overall goal anyway? Permanent weight loss? You will see the changes, just keep going. Oh, and I agree with - FORGET THE BF SCALES!! I hate them. We learned all about them in my dietetics classes. They are unreliable and can change because of many different variables!
Keep going!
Body for Life Forum Message by sober-stud (46 posts) at 02:50 PM
If you go buy two pounds of meat at the grocery store you will see how much you are actually losing. Its quite a bit.
If you are firming up and building muscle its hard to 'lose' any more weight even though you are losing even more fat.
Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (347 posts) at 05:43 PM
Ashtrash is right, the people on the Biggest Loser worked out AT LEAST 2 hours a day, often even more, and if you look at TBL diet book and the calorie level they recommend, you'd see it's VERY low for how much exercise they expect you to do. Those people on the show were also under constant medical supervision, and yeah, they didn't have to go to work, all they had to do was work out all day.
Trust me, 1-2 pounds a week is exactly where you want to be. It's the safest rate to lose and you're more likely to keep it off if you lose it at that rate than if you lose 5 or more pounds per week. Slow and steady. That's the way to do it!

I ordered the Microdermabrasion set from T~N~T and have to say, it’s THE best skin care product I’ve ever used. I love the way it makes my skin feel. I’ve never had beautiful skin – it’s clear (as in no breakouts), but ruddy and "muddled" (don’t know a better way to describe it), but after using the product for a little over a month, I can see a BIG, BIG difference. My skin has a childlike glow. I love this product and it's very affordable. I highly recommend it.

I've had some problems with acne and finally broke down and had a series of 3 glycolic adic peels in the fall. It was wonderful - cleared up my skin and made it look so healthy. I didn't really notice any difference aging wise except my skin looked fresher and tighter. I need to do that again! I've wanted to botox the vertical line between my eyebrows for years now. Not an aging thing but I think it makes me look angry and I'm not angry!

Thanks in advance!
Body for Life Forum Message by vitameatavegimin gal (24 posts) at 04:31 PM
I would spoil her the whole day...like send her flowers in the morning, leave love notes around the house in places you know she'll find them. Call her in the middle of the day, just to say I love you. Maybe get her a sexy something from Victoria's Secret, even if it's just a pair of panties...it will show that you took the time and you were thinking of her.....
If you can make the day special..she will be ready for a romantic evening !!!!!!
Just speaking from experience...I hope you both have a great time...How long have you been married????

DEPENDING ON HOW LONG YOU'VE BEEN MARRIED YOU COULD GET HER A PIECE OF JEWELLRY AND DECLARE YOUR LOVE FOR HER IN FRONT OF EVERYONE AT DINNER. IE MY GIRLFRIENDS HUSBAND HAD THE WAITER BRING THE PIECE OF JEWELLRY OVER WITH THE DESSERT TRAY AND THEN GOT DOWN ON ONE KNEE IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE RESTAURANT AND DECLARED HIS LOVE FOR HER. AWWWW! WHAT WOMAN WOULDN'T MELT. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Body for Life Forum Message by georgiawendy (412 posts) at 04:51 PM
I second that rose petal idea. On my wedding night, I walked into the suite and found rose pedals on the floor leading up to the bed and to the hot tub. I'll never forget that!
I like romantic things like dimly-lit restaurants, fireplaces, candles in the room, etc., but it does not have to be really expensive, just that you took the time to actually think about it. What vita-gal said was great too, the notes, the phone call. Heck, just planning this whole thing out is BIG BONUS POINTS!!
I also see you have a little one in the family. Speaking from experience, any time you don't have a kid hanging on your leg or you can actually sit and eat a meal by yourself without having to feed someone else is going to be a great evening in itself. Your wife probably wants to feel like she did pre-kid, like when you were dating without all the responsibilities of work and family. Treat her like a princess like when you first met. It will be a night she'll never forget:)
Body for Life Forum Message by Rie (567 posts) at 04:56 PM
no panties!!! no panties!! xnay on the antties-pay! thats just my opinion, but panties and such are best left for those drunken parties you two have.....
Heres just a thought...go to your themed inn...if it has a restaurant, make sure you make reservations....get your table, and have each waiter in the place bring over a note to read( they wont read...but recount them- all this might cost you 10 bucks a guy) a memory you have about her that leads you to love her...all over again. They shouldnt make a big deal about it, just stop by the table and recount to her the memory you gave them....could be as simple as the way she smells when she wakes up- or how she looks when shes uncertain about something....or how she looks when she cuddles the dog...whatever.
Waiters are notorious actors...they will make it drama worthy...at the end of the night give her a charm bracelet (or necklace that holds charms or whatever) and 1 charm that signifies your future...whatever that would be...trust me...mine is full of charms and full of love and full of every memory I never want to forget....oops, I told my secret...good luck

Massage oils for her back or cremes for her feet... & if she's like me she'd love to have her hair washed...
Oh Oh...& chocolate dipped fruit is a yummy idea
..or even better something I call" blind man's fruit salad "... picture her leaned back against you- in or out of the bath.. eyes closed..or silk blind fold..( depends on her perference...& you feed her pre-cut pieces of cold fruit... very fun cause..you never know what's comming next!

I don't know if anyone here can help me with this, but I am confused about what to do with my career path. I have a BS in psychology/sociology and am currently in my second semester of sociology graduate school. Since I started, there has been a lot of pressure to choose a specialization. Every time I meet someone, I am asked what area of research I want to go into. Well, I have told a lot of people that I was interested in community development and the role of nonprofit organizations. I did some research last semester on social capital and thought I told my grad. advisor I was going to do my thesis on that. I also have told some people that I was looking at doing program evaluations as a career. (all of these are related in a way, so that's not a big deal)
Here's where the problem lies. I am suddenly feeling like I don't want to do any of this. I spoke with someone who did an internship in community planning and they confirmed my fears that it can be really boring. I have asked myself what I really want to do, but the problem is that what I would like to do is not where I know I can get a good job. I know I can get a job doing evaluations or planning right out of grad school (with the right connections) but I don't think that's really what I want to do. For the last 5 years, I have helped people with weight loss (online and working for Curves) and I think I would be better off (and happier) doing obesity research. I just have no idea what kind of job market is available for social epidemiologists (especially without a Phd). Should I stick with what I know will get me a job, or do what I think will make me happiest and take the chance I can't get a job when I graduate? I have so many loans to pay back and 3 kids to support. The agreement was that my husband would work now and then I would work when I get out of school, since he only has a high school diploma and very few job skills. Any advice would be appreciated.

My favorite marathon training website is www.marathontraining.com/marathon/m_start.html
I like the training schedules because they are more realistic to follow. Early in the schedule, you may be able to incorporate BFL and certainly you can use many of the principles of BFL, like the nutrition and discipline.
Be careful not to overwork, however, because you will set yourself up for injury. I have done that before. Certainly upper body and abdominal training can compliment running. Be more careful with lbwo when you are logging in 40 or 50 mile weeks.
Unless you have alot of weight to lose, the nice thing about those long runs is that they burn TONS of calories and fat, so you do not need to worry as much about your diet.
Lots of luck to you, let us know how it goes. What marathon are you planning on running?
Body for Life Forum Message by leankat (31 posts) at 01:24 PM
You can get a great LBWO at home with just some dumbbells. Google ExRx and they have many free weight exercises for all areas.
I use The Firm for my in door aerobics. They incorporate weights and a higher than usual step and they are leg burners!! I also get some good ideas on lbwo and ubwo from the tapes.

Okay, since nobody responded....I bought it and tried it this morning. It is SO much fun and you sweat like crazy. It has a 12-week training routine. Can anyone think of anything else that takes 12 weeks??????
Body for Life Forum Message by icedragon6669 (2 posts) at 09:40 PM
I have it. but do not use it(i used it for 3-4 weeks, then got bored). i think it is very limited, i would love to be able to adjust the times of the games, to longer, and i dislike having the same warm up every time!
It does get up a sweat, but it only gets a 5/10 from me!
I will use it when i am bored, as a game, but do not like it as a fitness product!
Let me know how you go with it! (also the routines get more and more in the 12 week program, until you are doing 4 different games, 5 times a week!)
Body for Life Forum Message by Vix (32 posts) at 04:57 AM
Take a week off. This will assist you in breaking out of the plateu. After this you might even want to try changing your exercises to different ones - i.e. try shoulder workouts that you havent done before for vairety - your not limited to the ones in the BFL book. Hope this helps.

I love ab boot camp - soo hard, soo good. I love feeling the tightness in your abs when your walking after a good workout. Its such a good feeling (I have it in my gluets now, but it sounds strange if I say my arse hurts good?!?)

I agree with Rachel - not only good shoes, but very high quality shoes also help. Running on soft surfaces really help, but what eliminated them for me was changing the way I run - and it was advice given to me off this website last year:
Dont kick your feet infront of you. Your feet should strike the ground under you - not infront.
This did me the world of good and I can now run for an hour with no problems at all (except stitches - any advice for that one?!?)

If your running on your toes one of the best things you can learn to do, if not the best, is to run on your heels. When I began I ran on my toes and experienced pain in my shins. When I learned to run on my heels though the pain went away. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

I got my Enell bra!!! Holy smokes does it hold these puppies in place. For the first time in my life, I don't think about it at all when I'm running. I concentrate on form and the power of my stride. Word of advice though...use THEIR sizing chart. Don't go by the size of bra you think you wear. I would be wearing the wrong size if I hadn't rec'd help from one of their reps.
Total cost - $92 Canadian including taxes - and it's free shipping.
Total wait - 2 months - however, apparently they have all sizes and colors in stock now.
Enjoy!

For the most part, the last 7 years have been libido-less. With each child, it got worse. And I am sure the roller coaster with my weight hasn't helped. Anyway, I am actually starting to be a little more interested in it. So, there's hope for me yet! (btw, my TOM has gotten better too since starting BFL) I think the BFL way helps get hormones regulated or something.

I don't like the tea. Added honey for sweetness, but its not enough. Anyone else gassy from the fiber? It did produce results this evening. Nothing scary, but a lot lighter in color than normal. I wish I drank this tea earlier, but the baby has been clingy since I got home from work at midnight. She has a 9:30am Dr appt. I hope it doesn't hit me then Hahaha. On a crappy note...When I got home tonight all but 3 sheets of TP were gone. I was not happy. Thank God for papertowels. yesterday i had a bm that was the foulest moset wretched thing ive ever seen. seriously i dont know what to make of it. and no theres no remote or cats involved!!! i took a photo and showed my husband and i think i turned him OFF for days!! lol. if you go to the website and look at the photo from june 13th, 2005 on the bottom, thats what it looked like!
but seriously, im feeling kind of grossed out at this point. i just want all the old poop out of there! im thinking about adding another scoop of fiber into the mix but im scared i wont beable to leave the house!
ibmissy, im sorry you dont like the tea! one time i added peppermint extract to it and it was yummy, maybe try putting vanilla or almond extract into it?

Body for Life Forum Message by bubblz7 (114 posts) at 07:33 AM

Body for Life Forum Message by Mucca500 (147 posts) at 07:40 AM
lol, not its not diareaha at all! did you look at the photo i mentioned? lol, its the complete opposite, it was just scary because it looked so strange! when i started colonix i knew i would see some strange stuff but its like each day theres something weirder than the day before.

I'm just cracking up!!! And people at work look at me funny when I ask them about the bowel report, I never get information like this!!!
I had to cut back on the tea, I was having diarrhea and abdominal bloating and cramping, although it may just take some getting used to.
My husband is waiting until I'm finished with my 6th week before he decides if he wants to try this too. We don't usually discuss poop, but it adds a whole new dimension to our relationship!!!
ib missy, I think you can take the paranil anytime on an empty stomach.
Body for Life Forum Message by bubblz7 (114 posts) at 07:00 PM

hello, ive been taking it for almost 3 weeks now, i think? which remind sme i need to place another order! i only got 1 months supply.
spirit, i think you'll have to try it out to see what works for you. i was taking the tea at 11pmish and it was making me go too late in the morning, so i take it around 8 or 9pm and i go at 8am when i wake up, i guess you have to set it to your own internal clock!
the pills are just for the parasites, so it doesnt make you go, the fiber drink might make you feel like you need to. but its really the tea that makes you go a lot, the fiber drink just helps it along!
i had another strange bm today. i started taking a scoop and a half and i went a lot this morning!!

Hi, my name is Heather and I'm a sugar-holic. Cookie could have been writing about me in her post. Except that while the really strong cravings for me are gone when I'm eating clean, it is always a challenge for me to stay away from the sweets.
Lisa, I find the same thing happening to me now and then. I have actually stalled out weight loss by little bits of treats now and then during the week, and then completely blowing it on free day. It isn't hard to do.
What I do to help (and I'm actually doing it this week), is to track everything I eat in Fitday. That way I *know* that I'm creating enough of a calorie deficit to lose fat. Whenever I keep track my weight loss increases quite dramatically. I think for me it's all about being extremely conscience about what I'm putting into my mouth.
Good luck and keep us updated!
Heather

whenever i have a craving for anything, I try to get involved in anything else to take my mind off what i'm craving. I stay as far away from food as I can. Go for a walk, take the garbage out, wash the car or even go to the mall and look for your "new you" wardrobe. If you can hold out for half an hour your craving typically goes away.
Body for Life Forum Message by She Bear (71 posts) at 01:21 PM
Sugar is insidious!!! I was so addicted to it in the form of cookies. I swear I would eat until I couldn't breath. I really feel it destroys your immune system along with a host of other things. Read and old book call Sugar Blues. Real eye opener. BFL bars help me a lot when I am jonesing bad!
Body for Life Forum Message by eve36 (22 posts) at 05:13 PM
I confess I'm a BFL bar junkie too... They're my fix for sweets cravings (also fat free sugar free plain yogurt with a few almonds and a bit of Splenda, yum!) (I convince myself!)
I'm also in week 9, and like someone posted, the enthusiasm is fading a bit, especially since I'm not seeing results on the scale. I have more muscle, but not much more than my week 5 photos a month ago. I'm slumping and I want sugar!
Hang in there - we will get through! Just gotta make it to Free Day!
Body for Life Forum Message by FitnessGal4Life (33 posts) at 05:52 PM
Thanks everyone for your great words of support! Sugar addicts unite! I hope we can break this terrible cycle. I've done well today and feel "back on the fitness wagon", passed up the cookies and chocolate bars at work today. I work full time and my office is laden with excess food and sugary stuff...sometimes it gets hard to keep it abay. I did well today and am taking it one day at a time. Sugar has always been my downfall. I can easily pass up salty or greasy stuff without blinking...but put a cookie in front of me and look out!! LOL I use myoplex lite bars and shakes and will make the effort to make an occasional "BFL authorized" treat to keep me sane! I'm trying to focus on my progress to date!
Cheers for Friday! Lisa

good luck!
Body for Life Forum Message by Vix (32 posts) at 04:45 AM
Yeah, I'd hate to think how mine go after a free day! Always in the morning on an empty tummy and before any exercise - you sweat a lot of fluid which will alter a true result.

in the morning usually Sunday after I use the bathroom and before I eat or drink anything
also always have the same bra on and the same type of underwear , like hig huggers so you know the same spot you measured last time

Hi Guys,
I am finishing off my first challenge in 2 weeks and since i will probably need another to reach my goals i would like all you out their who have completed multiple challenges for some advice.
I know the smart thing to do is to a take a week off. In your week off what did you do, some walking, stretching? Even though i want to dive straight into challenge 2 i am afraid ill burn out mid way since this is 12 week and not 24 week challenge.
Advice my champion buddies
God Bless
Pan

I took a break but I still ate right and did low impact cardio, no weights. It gave my body a break, then I started my second challenge a week later. Congrads for 10 weeks your doing great!
Body for Life Forum Message by Chris (367 posts) at 08:09 AM
I took a break, I would still do cardio (light) and eat right. I did hit the weights but just not as intense. I took a few weeks off to let my body recover. Though I have not done another official challange I am using what I learned to live a healthier life and when I work out I do it like am am in a challange. BFL has change my thinking about how I treat my body.

I took a break between C1 and C2- I'm still not certain if that helped or hurt me. Stayed clean on the eating mostly. Have not had a break since starting C2, just cause I do not feel the need or desire to.

There have been a lot of posts on colon cleansing so I thought I would post a couple of articles I stumbled across. I do not know that much on the subject myself and am not taking sides on weather it works or not so do not flame me. I just thought these articles were worth reading if you have been thinking about giving it a try.
I should also note that I have not done any research on the validity of the information on this site, so it could be totally bogus for all I know.

Like I've said in other posts...its all a matter of opinion. If you think it does beneficial things for you ( and I know it does for me) then do it ...if not, dont. This isnt a subject that needs to be debunked or proven.

Always remember, MDs make their money from sick people, not healthy people. Also this reminds me of an old joke:
"What do you call they guy who got all C's in medical school?" Answer: "Doctor."
I prefer to give myself credit for having an open mind and exploring possibilities. But thanks for the post.

I haven't been to a doctor for 20 years, so I'm certainly not saying they know it all, in fact I'm sure you could find an equal number of doctors to argue either side of this. I just thought it was interesting reading since this seems to be a hot topic right now. I do take several herbs that have no scientific proof behind them but I believe they make a differnce...
Body for Life Forum Message by Agent 69 (714 posts) at 10:58 AM
just like so many other areas
if you believe in it----it'll probably work better for you
if you don't believe in it----pass
personally, I'm starting with milled flax seed in my protein shakes in the morning and I take two HERBAL Swiss Kriss tablets before bed in the evening.....so far----this is helping.
But, I'll keep an opened mind and will probably give it a shot towards the end of this challenge.

A funny story about all the colon cleansing posts:
Last night I had a dream that I was at work and attached to a "tube". I was trying to schedule an all-staff meeting and running around attached to this machine...It was the most idiotic, odd-ball, and frankly disgusting dream! :) I will never have a colon cleansing...that is why I choose to drink WATER!!! That is my cleanser! :) Thought you might enjoy.
I woke up worried. :)

Ok, I can't remember where I saw it, tracker, lifer or torch but I remember reading that someone got a Mens's Health Magazine and our new Champion Aaron Ferfuson was in it for a EAS add.
My hubby just went to walmart and called me on his way home, he said he got it, but they have an add for EAS but it's not AAron it's the Feb issue
Does anyone know what issue it is in? Is it the March issue that only subscripers get before they put it on the store shelf. or do I have the right magazine?
Please let me know, I want one and I promised Arron I'd get one for him too
thanks, GET*HER*DONE LINDA

Cant believe it is week 4 already!
Still making progress, feel great, can't wait to see the end results. Half way to my targets and only a third of the challenge passed. Have uploaded comparison photos to week 0 because I am so pleased with the results.
Have noticed a good thing, I now think about what I should eat rather than what I shouldn't. Great change in mindset.
Good luck to the rest of you.

Roe, I have eaten clean 6 days a week, and haven't missed a meal - I haven't really worried what I have eaten on my free day, although saying that, I haven't gone mad on food because I prefer to make good use of my free day by having a few beers.
Thanks again

Ladies,
Are you a size 20 or above and feel discouraged? Well dont be discouraged any longer!!!!
Over the past couple of days Ive been looking at the pictures of Suzy from this season's The Biggest Loser. She WAS a size 24 and now wears a size 6-8 in jeans!!! She looks absolutely beautiful!!!
Ive marked the link so when I start to get discouraged I just look at her beautiful transformation and realize living a healthy life and being beautiful is actually a VERY OBTAINABLE GOAL!!!!!
Keep up the work girls!!!!! You'll be at your goal before you know it!!!

What is the link that you have. I have seen a few links for her but none in detail. She definatly inspired me too. Her transformation was amazing. Mind you if we had someone pushing us that hard it would be alot more attainable in a shorter time span.
~Future Hottie~
I saw her on the Tyra show last night. (Don't ask...I couldn't sleep and I knew this would help.) Anyway, she looked great (I've always been a fan of hers), but if she's a size 6-8, then Tyra's a negative three.
How adorable that she found love on the show, too. (Groaner: Tyra asked them, "Do you think all the attention you're getting is because so much of Hollywood is breaking up, and you give them hope?" GROAN! Matt wisely said, "I think it's because we've undergone a tremendous personal and physical transformation and people want to know more about that." it's just too damn hard to buy clothes!
My pre-pregnancy jeans that I was finally able to get into again a couple of months ago were awesome, but now they're a bit loose and looking pretty threadbare (who knows how long I was wearing them before I got pregnant) so I decided that I was going to go out and buy a new pair of jeans. Not only was I going to buy jeans, I was going to buy actual women's jeans - I've been wearing men's loose fit (not on me their not) for so long I don't know the last time I wore women's jeans. I've watched enough "What not to Wear" and "Oprah"'s now to know I'm wearing completely the wrong jeans.
I went to 4 stores yesterday and tried on 14 pairs of jeans. I bought none. All these varations of low rise jeans . . . mid-rise, low - rise, ultra-low . . . nobody seems to carry jeans anymore that doesn't show my plummer's crack.
So today I decided I was going to Kohls to try on jeans again and if the women's dept didn't work out I was just going to walk over to the men's dept and buy my trusty Levi's 560's in a smaller waist. So add another store to my count and 8 more pairs of jeans. Total of 20 pairs of jeans I've tried on in the past two days . . . it's a wonder I'm not sucidal. I finally bought a pair of Levi's jeans . . . yes, women's in size 12.
I don't love them, and I did wander over to the Men's Dept just to look and they didn't have my jeans in a 30 waist, which apparantly is the smallest they make them so I'd have to switch over at some point right.
So if I don't lose any more weight (or gain) I can wear these forever, right???
Laurie
I really like GAP bootcut jeans (not my absolute fave. but good regular ever other day jeans.)
I LOVE Lucky brand jeans! They fit really well. I do wear a wide belt with them to keep them from becoming too low rise ;-) and from showing my crack! I HATE THAT! But they fit AWESOME! I love the LUCKY BRAND JEANS. Sometimes CostCo has them.
I have not had a chance to try on 7 jeans or joes jeans. Probably because I have NEVER had a positive experience with them & they are 150+ a pair. Seems you must be a twiglet to wear them and look good in them. Though now that I have lost a little more I am curious as to how they would look. Seeing as I have a bootay they probably will have teh same out come. Me leaving the dressing room pissed. lol Yes, I have done the same thing you have just done lol 20 something pairs in one day. It can make you crazy. I used to like Lee One True Fit jeans. Did you try those at Khols's?
I too am I the perfect jeans hunt as well. ;-)
I've heard gap curvy are really good, have yet to brave out and do the jean thing
I tried the Gap Curvy and I thought, how perfect, they say they're for people with larger hips than waist and that's me . . . well, their all low rise and they stop at the hip and so the waist isn't even a factor. Waaaay too much butt crack.
I went into a Lucky Jeans store too, and they we're okay - but they were $100 and despite my whinning in my post. I hope I'm not in these too long. Do you think these are the same that they sell at Costco???
I tried on some Lee jeans, I don't know if they were the One True Fit, but too much gap in the back.
I ended up with Levi's 550's.
