Thread: peanut butter cookies (314 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (1021 posts) at 07:29 AM:
made these again.....added the protein powder & substituted the butter with applesauce it turned out to be more like peasnut butter cake rather than cookies doing it this way....still very good though.

Body for Life Forum Message by biojen (60 posts) at 01:37 PM:
Yum Yum Yum! Can't wait to try it.

Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (1021 posts) at 01:44 PM:
keep in mind that they will be more cake like with the adjusted recipe. cutting out the butter has got to be the deciding factor in that.

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (501 posts) at 02:25 PM:
I have found cooking with Splenda makes my cookies cake-like. Just regular kind (not BFL frindly)...just using splenda for the sugar. I have tried several different things trying to get my cookies doughy, but when I use Splenda...they are also cake-like. Not that I have baked cookies recently....but over the summer I was DETERMINED to figure it out and never could. I love using Splenda in place of sugar. I don't buy sugar anymore.

Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (1021 posts) at 02:40 PM:
I used it to make the banana bread (on the recipe site) and the package tells you to cut the sugar in half.....it was still so sweet that I couldn't eat it. ofcourse, my husband and my son had no problems putting it away

Thread: Daily multi vitamin (82 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Myintencity (15 posts) at 01:49 PM:
I've been taking One A Day Carb Smart Multis for a few months now. I can't get specific or technical but between my Jack Lallane Power Juicer and one tablet twice a day I'm running on all cylinders. It is my understanding that with the relatively lower nutrient content of the food we eat(compared to several years ago), fruits and vegetables in particular, quality multis are essential.

Body for Life Forum Message by Myintencity (15 posts) at 01:56 PM:
...multivitamins require multiminerals in order to work properly.

Body for Life Forum Message by BuckeyeBoy (55 posts) at 01:58 PM:
Take a multivitamin . . . period. If you don't need some of the nutrients you'll simply deposit them in the toilet when you go #1.

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (501 posts) at 02:04 PM:
I think they are all pretty good. My sister and her husband LOVE the Mega Men's/Women's from GNC. I have heard good reviews. Never tried it myself. I always find myself at Wal-mart when I need a multi. I take a prenatal (just for the added folic acid and out of habit from so many years) and have tried a multi from Olay. I think many of them are created somewhat equal. Some have more minerals/vitamins than others....but overall I think you are better with one than without. Hope that helps.

Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (1021 posts) at 02:08 PM:
I found a multi-vitamin made especially for ACTIVE Adults......we qualify. so, that's what I take. I have also added MILLED flax Seed to my protein shakes once a day (2 TBSP).

Does anyone eat five meals a day instead of 6? also how many hours is everyone taking in between meals?

Body for Life Forum Message by fitchic25802 (291 posts) at 06:39 PM:
I do 5 or 6 depending on what time I get up in the mornings and how busy my schedule is that day. If the meals are small I usually get in 6 meals a day. I take about 2-2 1/2 hours between meals. Take care. Crystal

So I'm ashamed to have not met one of my goals - - looking totally buff for my upcomign Christmas party! I wanted to look so hot! I'm wearing the cutest little black dress that hugs in all the right places, and actually hides some undersirable places! The problem comes in with the fact that it's strapless and sleeveless, leaving my not-so-buff arms EXPOSED!!! So I'm desperate... my party is in 10 days... I know BFL works in 12 weeks. I do believe it. But I've only got 10 days. In the next ten days, I'm starting Hydroxycut, going crazy with cardio, bicep curls, tricep extensions... Again, I'm desperate! So desperate to lose 10 pounds in 10 days that I'm SERIOUSLY considering....dum,dum,dum... the cabbage soup diet!! (taking shelter for the backlash that I know will come!!!) ;-) I know it's not a healthy lifestyle or diet, but it's only 10 days! I've read that I can drop 10 pounds in that long with this crazy diet! I guess I'm here to ask for permission - just this once - in a desperate crunch - is the cabbage soup diet ok???? After the party, I can get back on track with BFL. Any thoughts???

Body for Life Forum Message by DreamCatcher (515 posts) at 10:16 PM:
JMO I have tried them all, cabbage diets being one of them...and I can tell you that you will not see the difference you are looking for by doing the cabbage diet. You will lose pounds on the scale, but it will only be in water weight, and will not have much of a visual difference whatsoever. If you really want to see any progress in the next 10 days, stay with the BFL diet, put more into your workouts. Think you've hit your 10? Try for 12! Up your weights, get all of your reps in! By the time you are on your last 12 rep, and you can only get out 10 reps, then you have hit your 10! On cardio...push yourself harder than ever before. Think you've pushed hard enough? Push again till you could not possibly go any further. Why starve yourself for the next 10 days, lose scale weight, and still have those flabby arms? You can do this without resorting to the cabbage diet! Give it all you've got, and then some! I KNOW you can do it! Jennifer

Body for Life Forum Message by biojen (60 posts) at 10:26 PM:
I agree with DreamCatcher that the cabbage soup diet is not the way to go. The beauty of BFL is that it is a lifestyle change and not a quick fix however... don't anyone shoot me... I'm not condoning this... if you want to drop water weight quickly, you can do what many of the contestants do about a week or so before their photo shoots at week 12. EAS has instructions on how to do it as they fax them to contestant when they near the end and want to look "ripped" for their photos. I'm sorry to say it won't tone your arms, though. You need to build the muscle for that. But- for a temporary water shed, cut out all of your carbs and ALL, I mean ALL of your sodium. Scrub those chicken breasts under water and boil them! YUK- I know but you sound like you're ready for the torture. Start drinking water like crazy. I mean become a reverse drinking fountain. A gallon or two a day. When you get a day and a half from your party, cut back on your water- practically cut it out all together. I mean only a cup or two total the day before and only sips the day of. You'll continue to run to the bathroom every 15 minutes but you should be able to flush it from your system. This is basically what bodybuilders do to get the ripped look for a show. I'd also say that before you put that dress on, pump up. The pump won't last long but at least when you make your grand entrance, you'll look your fullest. You can call EAS for specific instructions. This is just the basics for how it works. And then, after the party... quit the nonsense and get back to BFL which really WORKS! Good luck! :)

Body for Life Forum Message by Framed (37 posts) at 10:51 PM:
Ditto. Stick with BFL. If you want to cut down on come of your carbs, like bread that can help. You could end up sick for your party if you do the cabbage thing. Don't do it to yourself!

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (501 posts) at 10:53 PM:
you would be better off starving. I agre with everyone else here. Check your diet. Make sure you are eating the right foods. Add some cardio. Challenge yourself to REALLY reach for tens. And most important.....RELAX. Weight is NOT going to come off when you are stressed about it. You will look great with or without the 10lb loss. Just make sure you FEEL great at that party. That is all people are going to notice anyway!

Body for Life Forum Message by LeoGirl (131 posts) at 10:54 PM:
I did the cabbage soup diet once. I was stuck on the toilet all day lol. I wouldn't do it. Stick to BFL.

Body for Life Forum Message by motiv8me (176 posts) at 11:27 PM:
LOL LeoGirl - - - I wondered about that!! Thanks for the words of advice and encouragement guys. I really do appreciate it. I think I will do as you have suggested and push myself past my 10s - - yikes! I am also going to contact EAS about this photo shoot prep. You're right, I am more than willing to boil my chicken if it means looking ripped for the party. That, and curls, extensions, kick-backs...I need more time! ...breathing...trying to relax so the weight will come off!! Thanks again guys!

Body for Life Forum Message by dreambig (50 posts) at 11:54 PM:
Don't do it! Think long term. There will always be another Christmas, and every time we do not eat the right foods at the right times in the right amounts, and go days eating soup...ask anyone, you will loose muscle not fat and when that party is over the battle to loose the fat stored will be tougher to endure. Don't be hard on yourself. Arrive to the party energized, healthy and confident you know you are doing the best thing possible for yourself following BFL.

Body for Life Forum Message by blemt (48 posts) at 07:43 AM:
I'm in a similar position at work. I have a coworker who's seriously overweight and has the fun accompanying issues. In particular he has a bad knee. He's prickly on this issue, wants to change but is convinced he can't. I've been slowly bringing him information that can help him make a decision. I started printing out profiles of past champs who have lost a ton of weight. I just happen to leave them out on the counter at work. :) If you've successfully transformed, remember that this coworker has never seen you fat and unhappy. So as far as she's concerned you are just another "skinny chick" trying to tell her to lose weight. My best tool in convincing people this is possible isn't my before and after pix, it's my old drivers license. I'm literally not the same person in that shot. For some reason that crappy head shot is a better credential than my photos. Don't forget to bring your copy of BFL to work with you and leave it sitting around casually. :)

Body for Life Forum Message by michiganmike (58 posts) at 02:38 PM:
Hmmm. That's a unique location for fibrositis. It's usually around the backs of the shoulders and neck area. And sometimes in the thoracic spine. Have you investigated it medically to be sure that is the problem? Sounds kind of like it could be something like spondylolisthesis or spondyloslysis or spinal stenosis or even discogenic. I have little experience with acupuncture, though I have tried some of the spray and stretch kind of therapy, along with ontopheresis for the fibrosis in my shoulderjoint from a joint infection, and it worked fairly well? There's always Oxycontin I guess! Though it might make workouts quite interesting as well! I'd see what an orthopod has to say I guess.

Thread: How many copies of BFL (144 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by blemt (48 posts) at 07:47 AM: How many copies of BFL
...have you gone through? I've had 12 copies of the book. You see I have this nasty habit of giving mine to others. Coworkers will come up to me, comment on the challenge, ask questions. They start asking enough that I loan out my copy of the book. When they complain that it sounds great but they can't afford it right now I give them mine. That's always good for a double-take. They say, "well I can't" I say, do you want to make a change? Yes!, Then take the book and loose the excuse. When you are done, all I ask is that you pass it on to someone else who may gain value from it. So how many of you have given away your copy of BFL? Or am I just nuts?

It's cost me $25 a pop when I give them away. The bigger question is- what do I get back. And I can't put a dollar amount on that. Every single person I give this book to is worse of then I am- no matter their financial status. Why? They are not living their dream. How on earth do you put a dollar amount on that?

Where is the Ebook version?

Body for Life Forum Message by Forest Tech (18 posts) at 07:09 PM:
I got it off of limewire. It took a long time to DL. But you can buy it on ebay for about $3 for the rights to DownLoad it. I was about to do that when I figured i would try the P2P first. I got lucky. If I send it through MSN messenger it only takes about half hour to send it to friends.

Thread: Silly Thanksgiving Question (84 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Flower (1894 posts) at 03:25 PM: Silly Thanksgiving Question
Here in Canada Thanksgiving is in October. Its a big family dinner, turkey, ham, the trimmings, apple pie, pumpkin pie, football and I assume the same in the states. We only have one "holiday" day while I think Americans have 2 days - isn't that right? And BTW, what day is Thanksgiving for you Americans this year? What seems to me is it somehow is more "festive" or more important of a holiday in the states than Canada. Christmas is a "big event" but Thanksgiving not quite the same. I've always wondered why. Does anyone know? Or maybe there is no reason

Body for Life Forum Message by ashtrash (283 posts) at 03:38 PM:
our thanksgiving is on the 24th this year (it is always the 4th thursday of the month.) Technically, the holiday is only one day, but a lot of people take Friday off from work as well if they can and it bcomes a whole weekend of playing. Americans can't resist a chance to get together, gorge themselves on food, and watch football. It's the American way! I think it may seem more festive because everything is commercialized, and peopl are looking to make a profit, so they make all the holidays a huge deal. just an observation. but i haven't ever been to canada to know what i'm comparing to, so...who knows?!?

Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (1021 posts) at 03:39 PM:
hell, it takes us 2 days to eat all that freakin food

Body for Life Forum Message by Karla (416 posts) at 03:42 PM:
Yeah, Thursday (Thanksgiving Day)is the official national holiday. Where I work, we get Th and Friday off. A lot of places don't get Friday off. Also, it's a huge tradition to go Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving. I am one who does NOT partake in such craziness, but many people love it. I think Christmas is a bigger event in the U.S. than Thanksgiving, although t-giving is big too. jmo.

Body for Life Forum Message by Darrell (38 posts) at 09:32 PM:
Me believes it's a bigger deal here because we believe we were glad to get off the ocean, and off of those cramped little sailboats. Wanted to meet some native folks who had grain, squash, beans and other things to fill our cornicopias...

Body for Life Forum Message by Jennifer A (279 posts) at 10:06 PM:
I had heard Thanksgiving is a bigger deal than Christmas because Americans will go home, travel across the country to go home for Thanksgiving but don't necessarily do that for Christmas. I thought the reasoning was like, people go home from College and their jobs from out of state at Thanksgiving and often bring friends and have a huge gathering but for Christmas people stay home. Dunno. Its what I was told and what we see on TV in Canada!

Body for Life Forum Message by chubbachick (74 posts) at 10:29 PM:
Flower... you think that is a dumb question??? Well I think I'm going to beat it with my dumb question... I was actually wondering what Thanksgiving is all about? We don't have it in Australia and while I have heard alot about it I have never ever found out what it is actually about.... Can someone please tell me?

Thread: Can't stop blushing! (113 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (155 posts) at 04:28 PM: Can't stop blushing!
My boyfriend's brother and his wife came round for their tea this evening. After we'd all eaten, the boys went into the living room to watch the match, and left us girls to do all the tidying up! Typical! Anyhoo, at half time her phone rang and she took the call into the laundry, while I stood looking out of the window, drying the dishes. The next minute I felt a pair of lips on the back of my neck and a pair of hands groping my bum, then a voice whispered in my ear..."You've got the best arse in the world!". Thinking it was my boyfriend I spun around only to see his brother staring at me! WE BOTH SCREAMED! LOL! He thought I was his missus, who was standing in the doorway laughing her arse off. Still, took it as a compliment that my arse was looking good tonight, but I haven't been able to look him in the eye all evening, and I couldn't wait for them to leave!

Body for Life Forum Message by GetNFit (677 posts) at 04:34 PM:

I'm not weighing myself until the end of my second challenge, (I have a hate-hate relationship with the scales), and I won't measure myself until the end of this challenge. But I went shopping today and have dropped a jeans size. I was struggling to get into a UK size 10, US size 6, a couple of weeks ago, but I went into the shop and tried them on today and they fit perfectly! I'm pleased, but I'm just waiting for the 5th week when I suddenly see this dramatic difference. I'm where I want to be size wise, I just want deffinition and muscle tone.

Thread: Plan for Surving Thanksgiving! What's Yours? (64 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by DreamCatcher (515 posts) at 07:50 PM: Plan for Surving Thanksgiving! What's Yours?
With Thanksgiving just 2 days away, I've been thinking about how to handle all that food! I know some of you are just going to make it your free day, but I decided to "compromise." I don't want to undo anything, and I definitely don't want to start a 4 day binge by eating too much on Thanksgiving, so I have it planned out. 1. Have a plan. What is a goal without a plan? 2. Not taking a full free day, but a free meal, which will be Thanksgiving dinner 3. We are going to another family members house, which will accomodate #3....I will eat a regular meal before I go, a normal BFL meal 4. The first thing I will put on my plate will be a good sizing of turkey, followed by just 3 things that I really want, and only 1 small spoonful of each 5. No seconds 6. Not miss workout 7. No regrets So...what is your plan?

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (155 posts) at 07:54 PM:
We don't have thanksgiving over here, but to all the American Trakers happy thanksgiving! Don't be too naughty!

Body for Life Forum Message by Karla (416 posts) at 08:00 PM:
My plan is to end my 2nd challenge last Sunday, just in time for Thanksgiving! I'm between challenges right now, but I still plan to keep my portions small, not go for seconds, limit sweets, drink lots of water, and no alcohol. That's my unofficial plan.

Body for Life Forum Message by Miss Fit (320 posts) at 08:12 PM:
I've been thinking about this, too. My tentative plan is to keep Thursday on track as any other EFL day. Fortunately (or unfortunately), my family is in another state so my husband and I will be having dinner at the country club with our boss. It should be easy to stay on track with food choices since it's a buffet dinner. I'll just have a portion of turkey, some vegetables (hopefully all options won't be dripping in sauce or butter), and hopefully a decent complex carb (I’ll resist the stuffing without too much trouble). I don't think I'll be too tempted with dessert. I like to keep my free day on the weekends - preferably Sunday so I don't end up with a free-for-all. So… that’s the plan. =) Happy Thanksgiving!

Body for Life Forum Message by Can'tStopMe (357 posts) at 08:56 PM:
At first I planned on eating til I puked but after thinking about that I decided that wouldn't be wise. It would also be rude to the guests in my home so I came up with an alternative plan. I will eat until I almost feel like puking. Then I will nap. That won't be rude. When I wake up, I'm gonna eat again. Then I will have dessert. I even wrote it out so it's well planned and will be less likely to deviate.

Body for Life Forum Message by Jennifer (14 posts) at 09:02 PM:
My plan is to treat it like a free day but not a free for all. One serving of everything - no seconds. More turkey than anything else (less of the stuffing and potatoes). And EXTRA cardio all week long!

Body for Life Forum Message by ashtrash (283 posts) at 09:32 PM:
can'tstopme -lol that was fricking' hilarious my friend! i like a self-aware woman! My plan: Same BFL plan all week, eating clean on thursday...Turkey, veggies, small serving of carb... We do it at my grandma's house with like, 100 people. Literally. There is never enough food, and it usually isn't very good. So it won't be hard for me. I don't really like to eat in front of other people anyway...the only thing that will be hard will be avoiding my little sister's glares for not eating everything. Ya think I'd be used to it by now, but, no... Lite freeday on Saturday. (i only do half days anyway)

Body for Life Forum Message by Rushja (493 posts) at 10:14 PM:
My plan is when the food is ready I am going to put a serving of my favs (stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey, etc) on a plate and stick it in the fridge. The way I see it I eat every 2-3 hours. If I have turkey and a carb side every meal time I should be able to enjoy everything by the days end ;) Jess

I honestly cannot decide if I want to make Thanksgiving a free day or not. I love turkey...that's my favorite part. I could leave all the desserts behind, but I love the sweetpotatoe casserole and that has tons of butter and brownsugar in it....and nuts. But so good. Stuffing...love it, but could leave it. Veggies....very bfl. So, I dunno. I have a church dinner thing to attend on Sunday and want to enjoy that. Can't I have two free meals? That's not bad, right?

Ok, I have to admit, I love sauces and dips on just about everything. One of my fav's to put on fish/potatoes/veggies in moderation is: 1/2c cottage cheese 1/4c fresh parsley 1/4c fresh dill 2-4 green onions chopped squeeze of lemon, and dash of garlic salt I start w/ the cottage cheese in the food proccessor until creamy and then add the other ingredients and pulse it to the consistancy you like. Absoloutely DELISH!! This will yield quite a bit of healthy sauce, I keep it in the fridge for a few days to add to just about everything. Anyone else have a sauce or dip they could share???

Thread: DAMN....I CAN EAT MORE??????? (13 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (501 posts) at 11:17 PM: DAMN....I CAN EAT MORE???????
Okay, I just went to the bodyforlife.com site and to the exercise page. Someone suggested calculated calories need for daily intake. Since I am in Week 10 and have seen very little change in the scale, I figured I would try it out. I suspected I was under eating and perhaps not always getting the right mix in. I use fitday.com MOST of the time and I am usually between 1300 and 1600 calories a day. BFL site says for my weight and for weight loss and muscle gain...I should be eating between 2000 and 2400 calories. YEAH, I CAN EAT MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know this "portion" thing and following your hard is supposed to be a guide....but obviously this isn't working for me. Another thing I realized was using my Weight Watchers skills. They calculate everything by "points" and each "point" is about 100 calories. (okay, there is more to it than that, but good enough guess) So this would mean for my weight, they say I should eat between 2200 and 2400 calories. I don't know where my head was. I really do know that eating MORE is better to lose MORE....within reason. I really took the "portion" and hand size to heart. So, I am going to start eating more! How fun. Don't worry, I will keep it all clean. But how fun! I can't wait. Maybe I will see some more scale loss shortly! YEAH! I highly recommend using that tool for anyone that is interested in caloric intake.

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (501 posts) at 10:16 AM:
Yes, I just did those yesterday...but I used a bench to lie on. Just started with my legs straight out, then lift up, keeping your legs straight. Less intense if you bend your legs. My lower stomach and sides are hurting today. They are my new ab exercises!

Body for Life Forum Message by amodellawyer (48 posts) at 10:28 AM:
I like weighted crunched on the swiss ball or weighted decline crunches. I can feel my abs in there I just need to shed the fat. Good luck

Body for Life Forum Message by fitchic25802 (291 posts) at 10:31 AM:
The abs are there, but you have to lose enough body fat in that area in order to start seeing definition. This is where your diet is very important. Unfortunately, the abdominal area is usually one of the last places you lose fat. I like to do my crunches on a stability ball. You really have to work your core to keep you balanced and to do the crunches properly. There are a number of different ways to work the abs, and some (like hanging leg raises, etc.) are more intense and take a little practice. Good luck to you and don't give up.

Thread: Calves???? Help (90 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (501 posts) at 10:22 AM: Calves???? Help
Okay, I hate the Calves part of the LBWO. I just don't feel like they are getting much workout or that I am hitting 10's. I have tried several different things, but most are variations of sitting and standing. After doing Quads and Hams and really working up a sweat, the calves seem to be my cooldown time. Calves will burn and I can get a decent workout, but it just never seems as intense. Does anyone else have this issue? Any good suggestions to killer calve workouts? Seems like such a strange muscle to work (isolate). Teresa

Body for Life Forum Message by fitchic25802 (291 posts) at 10:27 AM:
Here's a good way to really target those calves and really make them burn. Hold a 10 or 15 lb. dumbbell in each hand while doing these. Do 25-30 standing calf raises with toes pointed outward with heals almost touching (kind of like you're standing like a penguin). Without much of a break turn your toes straight forward with feet together and do another 25-30 and then turn toes inward (pigeon toed) and do another 25-30. The first 15 are slow and then pump out the final 10-15 fast. This is a great workout for the calves and you'll really feel it. You can also do the same thing, holding onto the back of a chair. With a 10-15 lb. dumbbell in right hand, cross right foot over and let it rest on the back of your left calf or ankle (whichever is most comfortable). Do about 25-30 slow single leg calf raises. Then switch the weight to the other hand and switch feet and do the same thing on that side. Hope this helps. Crystal

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (501 posts) at 10:32 AM:
Thanks, I will have to try this. I was doing this same exercise but in the BFL fashion...12-10-8-6-12-12 and it wasn't really doing much. I had to hold 30lb weights to really feel anything and then my shoulders hurt!

Body for Life Forum Message by fitchic25802 (291 posts) at 12:57 PM:
Doing the slow ones and then doing the last ones really fast will really let you feel it in your calves. Almost like it puts them into state of shock, so to speak. If you hold 30lb. and it hurts your shoulders try it with maybe 20-25 lb. weights. Just nothing too heavy.

Body for Life Forum Message by michiganmike (58 posts) at 01:10 PM:
Calf muscles are very hard to really work. They seem to respond best to high reps of heavy weights. By high reps I am talking about as many as 30 per set. If you can, literally work them until they burn so bad you cannot stand the pain for one more rep. The best calf raises do not all need to be full range either. You can do a full range, then a short stroke, another full range, and so on, just so you totally exhaust them each set, at least after the warmup set.

Body for Life Forum Message by Prissy Crissy (52 posts) at 03:16 PM:
I do my calf workout on the leg press machine. My calves are burning and I still do the 12-10-8-6-12 method. You can use a lot of weight and not hurt your shoulders and hands from holding it all.

Body for Life Forum Message by BuckeyeBoy (55 posts) at 03:25 PM:
The bad thing about calves is (just my opinion) of all the muscle groups I think this is the one that your "born with"/ Genetic. I hate (more envy) the Popeye guys with calves and forearms. I'd use the leg press machine, and the Donkey machine 10-15 rep range for 4-6 sets each. Be careful and make sure you STRETCH between sets!!!!!!!!! Good luck

If you do your cardio at night, be sure to do it in a fasted state - about 3 hours after your last meal. You'll burn 3x's the calories this way. In fact, I think Bill says you could do an hour of cardio after eating and not burn the same amount as doing a 20 minute HIIT in a fasted state.

I've decided to cut my pilates workouts down to 4 times a week instead of everyday, so that I can include 3 sessions of Ab-bootcamp per week. However, because I want to do this properly I need to ask a really stupid question.... This is the workout summery; WORKOUT SUMMARY (To be performed after morning cardio three times per week) CIRCUIT PROGRAM Lower Ab Crunch 15 reps—no rest Leg Raise/Hip Up 15 reps—no rest Side Crunch 15 reps (each side)—no rest Knee Up 15 reps—no rest Lying Crunch 15 reps—no rest Back Hyperextension 15 reps—no rest ACTIVE REST (two to three minutes) Basic Ab Stretch Side Bends Stomach Vacuums Repeat cycle three times with no additional rest between cycles. Does this mean that you move onto each exercise IMMEDIATELY? I'm not sure what is meant by "rests", "additional rests" etc. Probably being a bit thick here, but I'm only asking because I want a really great work out, and get really great results. Thanks gang! I posted this story to another thread, but it holds true here. Guy is walking along one day and falls into a deep, dark well. He tries and tries, but just can't make it out. So he starts calling for help. A friend of his is walking along and hears his cries. His friend jumps down into the well with him. The first guy looks at his friend and says, "are you crazy? Now we are both stuck here!" His friend smiles and says, "yeah, but I've been here before and know the way out." I'm hear to jump into the well. :)

Great thread, tigermuscle. I stumbled upon this site about a year ago after hearing about it on the BFL website. I would periodically start BFL, for like a day or two, then just quit either due to lack of planning or laziness. Now that I have focused on a goal (125# by my 35th Bday on 10/09/06) I am committed to seeing it through and I need all the encouragement and motivation I can get along the way. Also, I will admit that I am an addictive personality. If I'm not stuffing my face to feed a food addiction, then I'm spending money I don't have. So, to curb those two demons, I have just become obsessed with this program which means constantly going back and forth between the Tracker and BFL Guestbook! At least this addiction is keeping me focused on my goal and isn't costing me any $. LOL!

The people in my life are supportive however they do not want to hear about body for life everyday so hear I can talk and read about the program as much as I want to. One day soon I will be posting my pictures and hopefully I will be able to inspire others:) Thank you everyone on this forum! Shannon

I come here for the inspiration, the profiles and before and after pics keep me motivated. I can do this! I will have a healthier stronger, better looking body, it may take longer than 12 weeks, but it will happen.

I come here because: 1. I am starting a new challenge and need all the help I can get. 2. I too, am an overeater/compulsive eater/addicted eater. I eat until I am so full, and then sit around feeling disgusted and angry about eating so much. 3. I have a horrible self image and not so good confidence in myself. There is a ton of inspiration and help here, whether it's the success stories, profile photos, or the posts...it all has gotten me to start thinking that I am worth the effort of getting into shape, and better yet, getting my butt moving again!

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (155 posts) at 05:04 PM:
I came here simply because I have no "physical" friends to talk to or ask advice about weight and fitness. None of my friends have been overweight, and so it's hard for them to understand why I am a little obsessive when it comes to improving my phsique and getting healthier. It's been great to chat to people who are, or who have been, where I am now. The encouragement has been overwhelming and I love the atmosphere here! :)

This is like going to large mall for me. Many of the "stores" (threads) don't interest me at all--I just pop in, say to myself "that one's not for me" and pop back out. However, many are excellent places to buy something I need. And I get to correspond with lots of interesting people during my shopping trip. Really, the Tracker is a slice of life. The folks here are for the most part good people, and things are really enjoyable. Once in a while there's something I'd rather not read, bt I do, kind of like driving by a bad car wreck, and really not wanting to look, but being unable to stop from doing it. Good thread, Gary!

I stumbled upon this site when it was referred to in the BFL guestbook by cookie/Sylvia. I toured around a bit and thought it was just what I needed to help me see this through and get the most out of it. I, too, don't have any in-person support right now so I must depend on others on here for advice, help and support. At this point I feel like people in my life would consider me obsessive if they knew I went here, but you know what, when I'm done this challenge and have my new body, then they will see the light! BFL is a powerful thing and sites like this and the guestbook help us all support eachother to let our true potential show. Melanie

(if you call this crazy that is) I come here to know that I am not the only one feeling the way I feel. I come here for advice. I come here for many of the same reasons as above, and well..because it's now a part of me, just as BFL is. I am still amazed at the friendships that are formed here, and to me that's just an extra bonus! Hearing others that are going through some of the same struggles, even ones who have already met their goals, well...it's a bit encouraging to know that we are all human, and no one is a failure because they fall off the wagon, or they don't meet all their goals within the fist challenge. The support and encouragement is just awesome and we all share a common bond that is not understood my many of our daily peers. Jennifer

Rock-Chick said: For thouse who have a little more knowlege than me on the subject, can cardio actually burn off the lean muscle tissue you build up on your "weights" days? I read that somewhere. If you're doing cardio for longer periods of time without switching up your intensity you will begin to negate some of the strength gains from the weight days. That's why all marathon runners look the same. All that running at the same pace for extended periods of time precludes them from gaining much lean muscle. The proven method for improving your cardiovascular health while preserving and building lean muscle mass is interval training for shorter periods of time. I'm sure a lot of research went into the HIIT program for BFL so the 20 minutes it suggests is pobably ideal. In my personal opinion much longer would become counterproductive. I'm no expert, but i hope that helps.

There are some new developments and good ideas going around. This is a rather "fluid" group project.

So how about going for a "collage" type of calendar?

We could call it "BFL Tracker Buddies" or something like that. We could put 2, 4, 6, 10, or 12 people on each month. Have any good ideas for a name?

What do you all think?  Should we go for a collage? This is a Tracker "team" effort. What's your opinion?

Keep those ideas -- and pictures -- coming!

The pictures should be 200 to 300 DPI, the larger the better, and the best quality you have on hand.

Email them to: trackercalendar@gmail.com

More info to come. Thanks!

Larry, I think just one a month should do the trick, however I saw a suggestion earlier in the thread for maybe have a man a women on each month(depending on the response)...like that idea...But if you do go that way, how about having the number of people corespond with the month...i.e. Jan-1 photo Feb_2 photos..etc...

I believe this is a two-week crash diet/exercise program where you will lose a lot of water and muscle. From the reviews, it says no alcohol, no bread, no carbs, no fruit, no dairy and no fats. Ummm...sounds good!!?? I think you would do better on the Hell Diet and BFL workouts for two weeks.

Body for Life Forum Message by biojen (60 posts) at 11:29 AM:

Body for Life Forum Message by michiganmike (58 posts) at 02:26 PM:
Gary, all the "want to" in the world some days isn't enough. An addiction, whatever it is, is a patient lover, and it is deadly. The key, I think, to getting victory over this is to manage it a day at a time, to stay in today, to hold no resentment over anything. YOU, as one who eats like others tend to drink, cannot afford the luxury of a resentment. You must keep short accounts with others, and be quick to forgive. You must continue to take personal inventory and when you're wrong, promptly admit it. The PROBLEM is not lack of energy, lack of intelligence or lack of motivation, it's a form of insanity caused by years of suppressing feelings and emotions with food! Stay in today; Trust God, clean house, and help others. That will get you, day by day, closer to real sanity, and much closer to the day you'll be able to call yourself sober and successful. And, it won't have a whole lot to do with what you weigh or how you look, but with who you really know you are. God bless! Stay at it, buddy.

I'm here . . . not online as much as usual with Megan under the weather. We are missing some of our team though.

I still need to hear from Jodi (Hammer'sWife) I hope she doing all right with the contractors and all, Shannon (AlwaysAnAngel) she did kicka$$ the first week, I hope she's did as well last week, KatieFeld- Mom is also MIA and she's been doing great too . . . Did everyone get the PM from LeoGirl? I haven't responded to her yet, but I'm hoping she decides to stick it out.

I had an AWESOME day yesterday! I went on a 1 1/4 mile hike with Megan on my back yesterday (the end was a leg-burner!), we then walked to the store (2 miles roundtrip)to buy a tv guide so I'd have my 3D glasses and they didn't have it! and then went to the gym last night for Spinning class . . . different instructor who kicked my butt even more. I didn't cheat with food all day and I did an great job with water . . . That was day 1 of the streak . . . stay tuned for more success coming this way!

Sounds like we all sort of fell off last week, so who's with me and picking it back up this week!!!

Kari - we lost another shoot out! Scary stuff with Fisher, eh?

Come on team, lets kick it into gear . . . for our American Teammates this is not the week to be slacking off!!!!

I'd concentrate first on getting into a rhythm with your body and your mind. Once you've done it for a month, go ahead and add in some supplements so you'll know if they are making a difference for you. It's nice to have a base to judge from. I'd stick with the Myoplex Lite shakes and bars, though, as they are great to make sure you're getting in your 6 meals a day. You can have an awesome body WITHOUT spending a ton of money. Don't let people talk you into things you don't need- at least not yet. :)

Body for Life Forum Message by biojen (60 posts) at 02:54 PM:
Forgot to mention that I LOVE Thermodynamix. It really gets me going and is a fantastic fat burner. If you want to work in one supplement other than protein/drinks, I'd pick that one. Of course that's just my opinion because I like it. I'm sure other products work well for other people.

Body for Life Forum Message by ashtrash (283 posts) at 03:41 PM:
you can absolutely do this without supplements. if it is a choice between buying supps and buying good quality food, go for the food. stick with the myoplex, but you really don't HAVE to have the other stuff. I totally agree that its about 2% - you have to put in 100% effort yourself and not rely on the supps to do "magic".

I'll be the lone voice of dissent here. :) I think the shakes are a very key part of the program. The shakes create a situation where I know that three times a day I get the proper balance of nutrients. I'd been ping-ponging between shakes and no shakes for the first month. My weight remained pretty stable. Then i shifted to shakes and BAM- my weight started dropping. And I feel better. When you actually do the math, the shakes don't cost much more than the equivilant whole food meals. I'm also on a restricted budget. I just make this a priority. If I don't get a couple of books this month so I can get shakes so be it. Just to be the voice of dissent. :)

Thread: Thanks everyone for yesterday..this is what I wrote in my blog this morning (160 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by tigermuscle (180 posts) at 04:27 AM: Thanks everyone for yesterday..this is what I wrote in my blog this morning
Yesterday was a real eye opener for me. This is what I wrote in my blog:

How are ya? Sorry I haven't been around in a while. I was sick for three days, and then I just didn't feel like blogging. Even though I put it down as a goal everyday. Besides, I see people are reading this now, so I have to keep it up for you right? :)

My confidence really got a boost from a lot of great and wonderful people yesterday. I want to thank everybody on the bodyforlife tracker website for supporting me and helping me realize that it's actually OK to be selfish about transforming your body. You DO have to own it and be responsible for it. Yes, support from people around you is fantastic, but more times than not your loved ones and friends may not fully understand what you're going through. How could they right? You can try to educate them on what you're experiencing, but if that still doesn't help, its not going to do you any good using that as an excuse. I think I was doing that. I'm not going to do that anymore.

A friend of mine is starting a fitness magazine and he asked me if I would like to write some articles for it! WHOOOOO HOOOOOO! LOL I told him I would love to! The articles will be about how to transform your body while dealing with food addictions and compulsive overeating. So now I would have that to help me stay on track.

I weighed in Monday at 315. That's mainly due to poor nutrition while I was sick, but I kind of lost control over the weekend. Plus, I only worked out two days last week. Gee, do you think those factored in to my weight gain? LOL

OK, today is cardio and a lower calorie day. I hope this day brings you joy and power!

GOOOOOOOOO TIGERS!!! (So what if the Red Sox got A. J.???)

Thread: High Blood Pressure (54 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by pancyprus (64 posts) at 05:23 AM: High Blood Pressure
Hi Guys. This is Pan from the Island of Cyprus. I haven’t posted on here for quite a while but i keep track of all your lovely posts, inspirational stories and fantastic pictures. I have had a series of health problems lately, to cut a long story short the number one issue now is high blood pressure. I am currently on medication, have gone through a whole series of tests to identify if something else is causing it but it seems i am in the clear. On Saturday i will have my final test which is a stress test. My question, is there any body out there that is on the bfl program and suffers from High Blood Pressure? I would like to here your stories and how you have managed to over come this. Obviously i am realist. I am only 31 but years of abuse (eating unhealthy) has finally caught up with me, i have high blood pressure, high uric acid, fatty liver. I was playing with My 18 month old daughter yesterday and i did the math. When my dad was my age he has a 31" waist but still at the age of 54 he had a procedure to unblock 2 heart arteries. I have a 38" waist with a whole list of health issues so the picture doesnt look good. I vow once given the green light from my doctor I will get in shape, i have to, if i continue like this i will surely not see my daughter grow up. I am fat and lazy and i have to change that. I know what to do; I just have to do it. Thank you all for being such an inspiration. God Bless Pan p.s any one know what happened to Kevin Hubbard?

Body for Life Forum Message by crone (254 posts) at 06:33 AM:
Kevin is now Buckeyeboy. I have high blood pressure. Just watch your salt intake. Actually the exercising helps lower your blood pressure (depends on the cause). There are reports where people actually have been taken off their meds. Hopefully it will work the same for us. Good luck.

Body for Life Forum Message by Kerry (842 posts) at 07:20 PM:
High blood pressure will be reduced by proper nutrition, exercise and supplementation. Also seek out foods which will help apparently celery is good for reducing blood pressure, oatmeal for cholesteral which I also beleived to be linked to BP. My did drop significantly, although I still get the occaisonal high reading. Success to You, Yours in Health, Kerry

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (155 posts) at 07:27 PM:
I've said it once I'll say it again. Stress. All the exercise and fresh food will help you greatly, but stress is usually one of the main underlying factors which contributes to high blood preasure. Try a really low impact, de-stressing exercise like Yoga or Pilates to just switch off and have some quite time a few days per week. I went to Cyprus on holiday last year, and found it so relaxing to just walk on the beach for 1/2 an hour after dinner. The sea air and sand beneath my toes made me so calm and peaceful. Take advantage of where you live and always remember to dedicate some "you" time into your day. Sleep is also fantastic for lowering blood preasure.

Body for Life Forum Message by Ursula (559 posts) at 07:39 AM: Huh????
I don't know what to make of this.... I have been the same weight, and measurements for 4 weeks now. I can feel, and see some differances in my abs. I am not sure what to do at this point. Do I call this maintenance? Do I freak out and try to lose more wieght? I am hitting 10s on my workouts, and can still see some changes happening. I am almost aprehensive of the want for more, I really want to love the way I am and not always set the bar higher... Hmm that's food for thought. Where do I draw the line between... I am not good enough, and need to be thinner, and I want to be healthy? Any thoughts on this Oh mighty Guru's of The BFL Tracker? ;) Urs

Body for Life Forum Message by Shannette22 (616 posts) at 07:49 AM:
Sorry to say, Ursula but for lots of women they don't see big scale/measurement changes until weeks 8-10. Your body just has to adjust to all these changes you're making. If you look at my profile, I stayed the same weight for about 6 or 7 weeks. I totally understand your frustration!

Body for Life Forum Message by Kari (248 posts) at 08:06 AM:
ursula have you tried changing up your workouts or your diet at all? your probably hitting a plateau whihc is normal..your body has gotten used to what your doing...even adding a new recipe to your diet, or cycling your calories can make a difference....also..changing up your exercises..instead of using a bench for chest press try using a stability ball...just keep your body guessing.

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (155 posts) at 06:47 PM:
I think you'd be INSANE to want to change with a body like that! But I know what you mean and how you feel once you've set yourself a goal and completed it. The "What the hell do I do now?" question starts running through your mind. You said that you're happy with yourself, so I think you're in a really healthy place. It is your choice to make further changes to your body, but do you actually have a mental picture of what you'll look like at the end of that challenge? If not, if you've actually reached a place where you can't really see yourself looking better than you do now, and my god you look FANTASTIC! Then I think you've probably reached the stage where you should simply maintain the beautiful body you have worked so hard to build. Be proud of yourself! And if you do decide you want to push further for whatever reason; 1) Alter your body shape because of an inspiring BFL photo 2) Have a fitness goal in your sights 3) Simply want to see what you'll look like by dropping another 5lbs Then everyone at Traker is behind you 100%. Just don't do anything that'll make you unhappy or unhealthy. Love Jules x

Body for Life Forum Message by Darrell (38 posts) at 07:21 PM:
Ursula, When I talk to BFL on the phone they keep telling me to eat more to lose more. That BFL body fat calculator thing on the exercise page of Bodyforlife.com (in the tools section) tells you how much to eat.

Thread: HELP! My jeans are getting TIGHTER!! (110 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by biojen (60 posts) at 09:08 AM: HELP! My jeans are getting TIGHTER!!
I went to put on a pair of jeans this morning and the thighs are getting really snug. There is more room in the waist and butt but the thighs are almost tight. I had posted another thread about putting on muscle fast but this is ridiculous. Please someone tell me that I only have to deal with this until week 7. When the "magic" starts, will I lose enough fat from my legs to make them fit again? Does anyone else out there have a problem buying clothes because of big quads/hamstrings? I never saw myself as a "muscular" person but it appears that my body responds incredibly well to resistance training. I only wish the fat on my stomach would respond just as quickly. I suppose I should be happy about that, shouldn't I??? :)

Body for Life Forum Message by TaraC29 (11 posts) at 09:14 AM:
Oh no! I hope my legs don't do that...they are already HUGE! Only now they are huge with fat and muscle takes up less space than fat, so I just gotta lose the fat, right? LOL Know idea about the "magic" but I bet it is just temporary. Are you taking Betegan or anything like it? Maybe that could be it?

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (501 posts) at 09:36 AM:
Happened to me. Still the case. But my weight loss hasn't been that great. I am in week 10.

Body for Life Forum Message by tcstone (501 posts) at 09:36 AM:

Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (1021 posts) at 09:44 AM:
I have the same problem with my jeans. The slacks I wear to work are roomier (but they are dress pants). My thighs have only decreased by 1/4" HOWEVER they have much better muscle tone now than before. sorry I couldn't tell you there was a MAJIC week or something and your thighs would just begin to melt away. BUT....aren't 21" muscle toned thighs better than 21" thighs of jello? For me that's a definate YES.

Body for Life Forum Message by biojen (60 posts) at 10:00 AM:
Believe me, I am ecstatic about the muscle development! I just don't know where I'm going to find great jeans that are small in the waist but have roomy thighs. I love Guess jeans but they are made for toothpick models. What population are they making those for where the thighs are about 4" wide???

Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (1021 posts) at 10:29 AM:
not the southern population that's for sure! I just love Levi's.....they have the fit I love.....fir in the waist and a little tight in the thighs then they flare at the bottom.

Body for Life Forum Message by gymbeamin' (1021 posts) at 10:29 AM:
that was FIT in the waist

Body for Life Forum Message by SweetEmotion (955 posts) at 10:34 AM:
Mine did that, I think I gained muscle then lost some fat cause they are smaller now. Still have fat on them though. that's my next challenge. Lori

Body for Life Forum Message by Nee Nee (238 posts) at 12:38 PM: Challenge #2 - NO EXCUSES
Well here I am again! I finished my first challege towards the end of October and thought that I would do just fine on my own through the holidays and start my next challenge after my skitrip in January. Not so much. LOL! I went to a planning session in Birmingham last week for work - and didn't do so well with my plan. :o( That's when I realized that I need the structure - I NEED the excuse of "I can't have that - I'm doing a BFL challenge" to help me succeed. And until I no longer need an excuse to avoid temptations, I will continue on with challenge after challenge. And I give each challenge a tagline - last time it was "Focus. Focus. Focus." and this time it's "No Excuses." I will still be taking a week off for my skitrip because I want to just have fun and not worry about anything, but I WILL get back on the bandwagon as soon as I return. I started the challenge on Sunday, and will finish it on February 18th (it's 13 weeks, but I will have a week off for skitrip - January 4-9). I'm excited because the 18th is the date of a huge annual party I attend, and I will be looking better than ever!! I look forward to pushing through and conquering holiday temptations with all of you!!

Body for Life Forum Message by biojen (60 posts) at 12:46 PM:
Good for you! I completely agree. What better time to do BFL than over the holidays. Just plan your "free" days for holiday get-togethers so you can still enjoy yourself without any guilt. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted on your progress.

Sounds like you got your plan. Good for you. You can do it now no excuses!!!

Body for Life Forum Message by Nee Nee (238 posts) at 01:25 PM:
I'm also going to modify my free day intake this time - I will have 1 or 2 free meals/week rather than one all day binge like I did last challenge. I think it will help me to feel better on Sundays and not be as lathargic. I need to write down some revised goals... Going... :o) Thanks for the support guys!

Body for Life Forum Message by SweetEmotion (955 posts) at 02:29 PM: You should try this...
DreamCatcher (Jennifer) and I were talking about how unmotivated we are for our 2nd challenge. So we decided to push each other. We are kind of like a mini team. We are reporting our workouts/eating to each other. This morning on my UBWO I thought of how she would kick my butt if she was standing there when i wasn't pushing myself so I pushed harder. I actually hit my 10's on cardio today. I did the stair master. I was sweatting like a pig. This mini team thing I love. I usually have Casey there to keep me going but with our schedules we can't workout every day together. So just keeping this all in mind worked very well for me. I posted my week 1 pics since I took two weeks off between challenges and didn't redo my pics. So, if you are having a hard time with motivation try something new that will get you going. Lori

Body for Life Forum Message by fitchic25802 (291 posts) at 02:42 PM:
That's great Lori! I was doing the same thing with a friend of mine who lives several states away from me. We would call each other every evening to make sure we were going to do our workout. It not only helped me and her both to stay motivated, but it also formed a wonderful friendship and we have never formally met, just talk on the phone. We send each other gifts, cards, etc. Right now, she's getting ready to go into her third trimester and we can't wait to get back into our routine together. Keep up the good work. Having a buddy sure does help keep the motivation going. Crystal

Thread: A million and one... (50 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by jshelton (1613 posts) at 06:00 PM: A million and one...
Hi gang! I just got back from a bike ride that logically should never have happened. The last two or three weeks I've been dealing with a sinus infection a stomach bug of some type and probably some issues with my underlying hormonal disorder. So for the last week I just haven't felt up to working out or riding my bike. And from my past experience, I knew it wasn't wise to exercise when there was any kind of infection. So it only made sense to wait until I got over this stuff before resuming my workouts. But today I guess I just had my fill of all that and said enough is enough... So I put my bike clothes on, strapped on my heartrate monitor, grabbed my bike and hit the road... I headed out from Lake Jennings campground, where I've been for the last 8 days, and started pedaling towards Alpine. The road to Alpine is mostly uphill and although it wasn't very steep, my legs were saying "steep enough!". And sure enough my heart rate monitor showed that my heart rate was abnormally high - indicating infection in the body. But I just couldn't wait another day to get back on the bike... It was as if my brain had taken my body hostage and my heart was saying "enough!". Riding along the road I pictured that scenario like an episode of a TV police show... "Okay Mr. Brain! This is Commander Heart of the S.W.A.T. Team. We've got you surrounded! Release Mr. Shelton and no one gets hurt." "But Commander you don't understand! Jim has been sick and I'm just trying to protect him. Just give me a few more days and he's all yours..." "No go Mr. Brain! You've kept him away from his workouts for almost 3 weeks now. Enough is enough...we're taking over! Now let him go or we're moving in!" "Alright already! He's all yours! But promise me you'll take care of him..." "Will do Mr. Brain. We're just going to start him out easy with a few short bike rides. And then we'll be taking him to the doctor to get some lab tests done. You'll see, he'll be just fine..." With my hormonal disorder, staying with my BFL program can occasionally turn into a real drama! But after I got back from my ride, I reminded myself that this wasn't the first episode... "Way to go buddy! Working out right now might make things worse physically, but it sure makes my heart feel better! Maybe it was only an 8 mile ride Jim, but sometimes even a short workout can go a long way... Remember...you've been through this a million times...this is just a million and one..." I hope my little drama helps with your perspective. I've learned time and again that it's crucial to step back in the midst of adversity and remind yourself that "This too shall pass..." and just keep plugging away, having faith that eventually you'll sail through this storm into calmer waters... Keep on truckin'!!! (PLEASE!!!) Jim

Thread: FUNNY TOP TEN! (41 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by michiganmike (58 posts) at 09:38 PM: FUNNY TOP TEN!
Here's a new top ten list that John from Manassas sent me recently. Some is "sorta" BFL related! I didn't write it, but I'm sure I'll steal some of it: Subject: Top 10 thoughts for 2005 Number 10 - Life is sexually transmitted. Number 9 - Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die. Number 8 - Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich. Number 7 - Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks. Number 6 - Some people are like a Slinky.....not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs. Number 5 - Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing. Number 4 - All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism . Number 3 - Why does a slight tax increase cost you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents? Number 2 - In the 60s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal. AND THE NUMBER 1 THOUGHT FOR 2005: We know exactly where one cow with mad-cow-disease is located among the millions and millions of cows in America but we haven't got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of immigration.

Thanks for the good wishes. Even though the past couple of days has been rough, actually it's been me being rough on myself, I am really feeling some optomism about myself and it really does feel quite good.

Keep going Greg! We've all been where you are now. That awful starting and stopping phase. Just take things week by week, try not to look for the finish line until you're a week or so away. We're all behind you, if you feel you're about to fall off the wagon distract yourself on here and we'll talk you out of it. I've just finished week two and I'm loving it! I'll wait for you at the finish line Greg! Jules x

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (155 posts) at 04:30 PM:
You have my sympathy! I don't usually start to hurt until two days after I've worked out. I did my UBWO on Monday, and I just know that I'm going to be in agony tomorrow! Remember-suck it up! The aches are a great indicator that you've done the job properly! Well done! Jules x

Body for Life Forum Message by Rock-Chick (155 posts) at 07:18 PM:
I'm starting week 3 off with a LBWO tomorrow too! I've kind of worked myself into a little routine: Quads: Leg Extensions Leg Presses Hams: Dumbbell Lunges (KILLER) Leg Curls Calves: One Leg Calf Raises Angled Calf Raises I really squeeze my arse with the calve exercises, as well as the calves themselves. It just adds a little bit of oomph to the exercise as the next day your arse will be solid!

Sometimes I get bored with just plain old chicken.

Anyone ever tried Tumaro's Gourmet Tortillas?  Just tried em out last night.  They are wonderful!  (Got the Salsa flavored ones)  And the proportions for protein, carbs and fat are at a much higher standard than the traditional plain white tortilla.

2 oz chicken breast, a little lettuce, salsa, and a sprinkling of cheese wrapped in the tortilla made a great tasty meal.  260 cals, 7 grams fat, 30 grams protein, and 18 grams of carbs.
