All, I have the best blender for work. It holds 12 ounces and is about a foot tall including the base. It is the perfect size for a desk drawer. I bought it at Walmart for less than $15 dollars. I not only use it for shakes, but for omelets and sauces. I loved it so much that I have one at work and one at home.

Good for you Tigermuscle! That is so funny! Once when I was travelling, I had forgotten my running shoes so I went to the hotel gym barefoot (no one said anything though I'm extra glad I didn't drop any weights). Best, P

Okay, I hope that you all don't think too different about me after this post. Just a couple: 1. I have eaten protein powder, creatine and HMB powder dry before. (I had to chase the hmb with a sip of water) 1. I was at a meeting for work and there was no foo or water permitted and it was 8 hrs with one Lunch break and 2 bathroom breaks. I kept a collapsable bowl in my briefcase with a spoon and two pack or myoplex. at the bleak I went to the bathroom got a little water and hid in a break room and scarfed down the myoplex (almost a pudding consisteny because of the lck of water). 3. When I was in college (1st challenge 1998) four of us use to cram into my buddies pickup and drive 2 hrs to Delaware (eas supps where very cheap there for some reason and no sales tax) and we would fill the bed of the truck to the rim with hundreds of dollars worth of myo, beta, creatine ect... 4. When I was a big drinker in college and on this program, I would take myoplex to parties and make mixed drinks with it (I was 19 and at least I got my nutrients damn it). LOL no wonder it didn't work that well the first time. Thats all that come to mind now, I am sure I can think of more (this is my fifth challenge and the first three where in college when I was kind of well you get my point)

Just heard yesterday, "Jacquie, you're obsessed!!" because I was talking about lower body workout day! I've also been hearing a lot lately that I'm too skinny! Ugh! My son comes home from college and asks my husband where I was... and his reply is "she's either working out or on the computer!" He found me... on Tracker!

I am totally obsessed, not so much worried about the calorie counting but I take water with me everywhere, and don't like to share it because... gasp... then I wouldn't know how much has been consumed. Also put glutamine powder in my water ;-)

Thread: Different HIIT cardo routine (169 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (77 posts) at 03:05 PM:
This is similar to how I did my HIIT when my treadmill was still working... I tried to beat my previous distance each time I worked out. That's what made it interesting, because otherwise cardio can be pretty boring. And I made my own intervals because my treadmill didn't have any programs. Now that I have a gym membership, I can try it again!

Cerdes, I think you are a bit off on that. Water has little no nothing to do with the deaths of ecstasy users. The few documented cases of death are attributed to acctually dancing themselves into a heat stroke. I believe there has been a couple of cases where water was a secondary factor but fromt he things I have read they were most likley goign ot die anyway due to thier core body temperature reaching upwards of 108 degress.

Body for Life Forum Message by bella2be (481 posts) at 06:18 PM:
As a former (and hopefully soon to be again ) marathoner, I get really scared when the "too much water" story gets a lot of press. Its REALLY hard for one to overdrink themselves into nutritional deficiency. We are all probably safe, and I think another article I once read said we are all in a state of dehydration most of the time. Geez, what can you read these days?!

Thread: My Husband had the "TALK" from the doc... (156 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by T~N~T (897 posts) at 10:20 AM: My Husband had the "TALK" from the doc...
Ok I just got off the phn. with my hubby who just had his Doctor's appt for Cedar fever shots. Well, since Thanksgiving and the pleasure of sleeping on one of those blow-up mattresses he developed a severe pain in the neck (not from me this time). And it has not gone away and he asked the doctor about it while he was there. Now stay with me because this is where it gets good ..... muhahhahahaha The doc asked him how old he was. He answered well I am 30. Then the doctor said as you get older it is important that you take care of yourself and exercise an NOT live sedentary.... muhahahahahah yes I am loving this as he is telling me this.... because I have been saying the same thing for a freaking year almost! The doctor said when you start getting older and getting "odd" sprains and strains in different places that is a sign that you need to get a healthy active lifestyle doing none other than lifting weights!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOOOOO! This is great news because he is just going to try and get in shape. No BFL program because he became really disheartened with it because he is one of those naturally skinny people and he would not give up the intense cardio to gain muscle. So honestly it was his own fault. Though I have tried and tried to get him back in to the gym he has ran as far away because he was pissed to see he lost after 4 weeks of working out with BFL and losing inches. Once again because he was doing way too much cardio...... My hubby is VERY thin. So with this discussion with his doctor he called me right away with the news and in a round about way he asked me for help with a routine for him! And to make a long story short I AM SO HAPPY! Because just last night I told him I could not imagine living life w/out you. And I was thinking to myself how bad I wanted him to be living a healthier life-style. I guess somebody up above heard me thinking and worrying.....;-) YEA I AM SO HAPPY! Whoops sorry so long I am just so excited and happy for us! Hugs-T

Body for Life Forum Message by chuckdiesel99 (788 posts) at 10:23 AM:
You know the saying...You gotta eat big to get big. Im happy he is asking you for help. I know you will set him straight!

Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (77 posts) at 10:32 AM:
That's great news! I've noticed with men (MOST men, anyway), you can't tell them yourself because they won't believe you, but if someone else tells them, like a doctor, then it's advice gold, lol. Glad he's taking it seriously!

Body for Life Forum Message by T~N~T (897 posts) at 10:36 AM:
Oh unfortunately I don't think us "Working Out" together will happen. He says I am too intense when I work out for him. I think it is his nice way of saying he likes to work alone plus our schedules totally collide. ;-( Maybe I can get him to come with me sometime baby steps hahaha right. But he does want me to get a workout routine for him. I think this might develop into something more as time goes on. He has always wanted to develop a physique like Anthony Ellis. So I am gonna give him the blue print and let it take on a life of it's own. But if he's working out he's EATING RIGHT too. LMAO HE cannot have his cake and eat it too! Grocery bill s goign to be insane again LOL. I am buying 2 big cheap Turkeys after Christmas ROFLMAO. See I am already getting carried away..... muhahahahahaha

Body for Life Forum Message by Flash (762 posts) at 11:34 AM:
I'm glad he's listening to his Dr. And cool that he has such an expert in the house to help him develop a workout plan! The 30s have been eye-opening for me. (I'm 35.) It's a time when you start getting a preview of all that goes along with the aging process. I feel SO much better now that I'm eating right and exercising. I think the older we get, the bigger the difference nutrition and exercise can make.

Body for Life Forum Message by Blondie26 (169 posts) at 11:46 AM:
Girl, congrats its sad that the doctor had to open his eyes. My hubby is skinny as well and is doing weights but goodness he wants to work out side by side. I do better alone. He also wants to talk while working out. I like to consintrate on the muscle I work. I'm glad he is going to listen to the doctor. Thats great! A new year has already started for the both of you.

Or am I missing something? I just think that if I am allergic to peanuts (or Rice Chex, lol), I'm going to make damn sure myself that there are no peanuts in the foods I buy before I buy them.

I used to suffer from extreme anxiety attacks all through my late teens, 20's and part of my 30's. I had a major depressive episode 4 years ago (which is when I began exercise therapy). To this day, if I miss exercising for 2 days in a row, the anxiety creeps up on me. It feels like an elephant sitting on my chest and that I am going to die immediately. It is a terrible feeling like you have lost all control (body and mind). I am still on meds for depression because I am really afraid of going back to that horrible place again because I feel so good now. There can be chemical, hormonal, or situational reasons for it. That's why it is called the "black dog"; it creeps up on you without you noticing until it bites you in the a**. Rest assured that you are not alone and there are lots of people that can help you including all the great people here.

Body for Life Forum Message by vonkarolinas (76 posts) at 03:37 AM: Desperate, need help. Offering money to anyone who can help me.
I have signed a contract to sell two of my scripts to a film company. The contracts are signed and the money is in place. The deal is for more than $500,000. Here is the snag. They need me to register the scripts in the European Union. This is for legal reasons to protect both myself and them. It is needing to be registered in the EU, because that is where production will take place. The snag is the registrar in the EU. It is going to take $6,500 to complete the registrations. Without those registrations, the sell will not take place and I will be out $500,000 and lose my first script sell. I do not want to see this happen. I am desperate. I am offering $30,000 to anyone who can get me the $6,500 before the deadline expires. To all those who are seriously interested in this offer, email me, I have more specifics and can email you copies of the contracts if you would like to see them. Get a loan, get into your savings, whatever. I am desperate as the deadline is Dec. 31. Again, I am offering $30,000 to anyone who can get me the $6,500. Tell your friends as well, if they are interested have them contact me. I will give the the $30,000 and you will get a $5,000 finders fee. I am desperate. This is my life's work. Please help me to fulfill this dream.

Why don't you get a loan yourself? Do you have any family or friends that could lend you the money? Sell a car, take a second mortgage, sell a kidney (jk)? I would love to help out but I only lend money to people that I have know in person. I believe that you are a good person and want to make your dreams come true but there has to be another route for you to get money, there are just too many internet scams now days (like I said I am sure you are sincere) but my advice is to try getting a loan or have a close friend or your gf get a loan for you and then pay them back.

Body for Life Forum Message by crazyblonde78 (189 posts) at 09:14 AM:
I dont want to sound negative either, but giving someone that much money is a very high risk. The deal sounds great, however, I think you'd be better off going to a bank, because then you wouldn't owe anyone 30,000...just the amount + interest you borrow. I am sure you are sincere also, but this day in age, its hard to trust anyone. I hope you understand and dont take this the wrong way. Good Luck to you, and I wish you the best! Merry Christmas & Have a Happy New Year!

Body for Life Forum Message by Flash (762 posts) at 09:43 AM:
I agree with the others. I think you need to look into another way to do this. You're asking an awful lot from people you don't know. Sorry. It just sounds fishy to me.

Body for Life Forum Message by ColdHeat (21 posts) at 12:12 PM:
If it looks, smells and swims like a fish it probably is. Why would anyone want to pay 30k for 6.5k when a bank can give you 10-12 percent rate in the worst case is beyond me. And if you already have a signed contract, why not use it as your collateral? Anonymous posters on a fitness board are not a source to finance enterprise ventures.

Body for Life Forum Message by vonkarolinas (76 posts) at 06:16 PM:
To answer all of your questions about going to a bank. I have tried. My credit is atrocious from past mistakes. Trust me, if I could do it that way I would, and I have tried. ColdHeat- I've tried using the contract as collateral, but they won't accept it. It has no current value, like a house or a car would. Why would I offer 30k? Because I am desperate. I've been to my friends and gf. They have tried, but for various reasons were unable to get the loan. My gf has no real credit history and was only approved for $1,000. But, oh well. I'll keep looking.

Body for Life Forum Message by amkazen (212 posts) at 06:28 PM:
As a suggestion, get the buyers to advance you the $6.5k. If they are willing to buy your scripts for $500,000, they should be willing to front you $6,500. If they will not, then drop your price $30k if they will take care of the registration fee.

If don't want to - don't, but don't be cruel. We are here to support each other. There have been posts for prayers, donations for hurricane relief, solicitations for other competitions and nobody complains. If there is a chance that there is a person out there in Tracker Land that likes to invest in new talent, we should be able to find out. This is a safe place for people to communicate. We just went through a tough time with non supportive posts - please let's not go there again. Thank you for the posts that give sound advice to vonkarolinas. You are what the tracker is all about. And other gone, who I never talked to but still over stuff in the message boards. You people do know this is Christmas, right? Where's the love man, where's the love? When you leave a place or an organization because you don't like how it's going or how you're being treated--you have just lost all power to ever change things for the better. Almost all organizations end up being a compromise of the various values of its members. But it must tolerate the expression of the views of those members. Most of those who left were either offended that someone would dare to suggest that what they were doing was inappropriate, or because they were deeply offended by the "inappropriate" behavior. Whose fault was it? Depends on your perspective I guess. But the boards will be a better place if everyone stays, and if everyone treats everyone else with respect, not nastiness. Whether you agree or disagree with what another has to say, there's absolutely no reason to attack that person's beliefs, or motives or personality. An ad hominem attack (attacking a person rather than dealing with the issue) is truly a cowardly act.

Body for Life Forum Message by amkazen (212 posts) at 05:41 PM:
michiganmike, these are the best words written to date on this subject. Thanks. Everyone should stay and help make the board into what it can be: the greatest BFL site. Your perspective comment is right on the money because each of us read the posts with our backgrounds and current state of mind that day influencing our interpretation of written words. Are we mad at someone else and then read a post? Perhaps what happened to us in our childhood or at work a few years back affects our view of a post and causes us to see it in a completely different light than what the author intended. All our experiences shape our responses in the here & now.

A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with scissors lodged in his temple and a bat jammed up his *** while he is on fire.

Thread: Inspiring my mom.... (64 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Reagiesmom (323 posts) at 12:27 PM: Inspiring my mom....
Tigermuscle's post got me thinking about this...I want to inspire my MOM. I have been trying to help my mom work out and eat right forever. Problem is, she underestimates what she can do. She used to belong to my gym and she would walk at the lowest setting on the treadmill. Now she has an elliptical in her home but she does the same thing. She refuses to use the 2 lb. dumbell set we got her last christmas.... instead she does some easy workout video that apparently instructs you to lay on the floor a lot (it is not an aerobics video... I think it's beginner mat pilates.)Then she will go on a diet.... and put my dad on the same diet.... but she never quite gets it right. She'll do atkins and say she cant have potatoes or rice with dinner but then has a brownie the next day. This summer she actually let me make a running program for her. She stuck with it for 2 weeks but then quit because we had a fight about something unrelated. Easy way out? Why waste so much time dieting and exercising the wrong way with no results? Soooo... what do you guys think? I know you cant make someone "want it" so I might be wasting my time.... should I just let it go???

Body for Life Forum Message by amkazen (212 posts) at 12:48 PM:
Gentle pushes and setting an example is probably the best way. I wish my parents were in the same town I am so I could do this. As it stands, they know I have lost weight but have not seen it. keep gently encouraging and I bet eventually you'll have your Mom motivated.

Body for Life Forum Message by J-Dub (77 posts) at 12:54 PM:
I don't know that you should let it go, but she has to want to do it. I think the best thing you can do is be a great example for her. My mom has tried every diet on the planet and even joined a gym once, but quit after a disagreement with the staff over vacuuming while she was working out. She honestly believes nothing works for her... or she did. Since I started BFL she's been interested, but not enough to actually try it. She bought a home gym but hasn't used it much. She and my stepdad said they looked for BFL in the stores but hadn't found it yet... Riiiiight. ;) So I bought them BFL and EFL for their birthday (their bdays are one day apart). And what my mother said was, "I only hope I can show the same willpower and determination that you have!" So she's noticing that something works. And she's willing to try it. I haven't asked her about it since I sent the books, but I'll be there to see her tomorrow and I am guessing she'll have questions. Help her however you can, but don't take it personally if she isn't ready yet. :)

Body for Life Forum Message by Reagiesmom (323 posts) at 12:58 PM:
Thanks for your responses! The problem I run into with setting an example is that she says "but I am older and haven't been working out all my life like you have.... I have had 2 children...." Well, here I am fit after one kid....maybe that will help. :) I wish she could meet GET HER DONE!

Body for Life Forum Message by T~N~T (897 posts) at 01:00 PM:
I wish you the best of luck. For my mom it was seeing my results and me being so diligent with my diet and exercise that she said I am gonna do this again. So it was not hard. I know I was very lucky in that manner, thats why I wanted to wish you the best of luck. But don't give up just keep trying gently. And if they want to just start eating right then it is a step in the right direction anything to get teh ball rolling. Hey maybe a talk from the doctor? hehehe I wish you the best.

Actually, they're not 'wanted for questioning'. There is a warrant out for their arrest, with substantial evidence linking Titus to the crime. Ryan's warrant is only as an accessory to murder. The murdered woman was living with them and apparently having an affair with Titus. Then again, warrants have been issued erroneously, as everyone knows, and people are innocent until proven guilty, regardless of how it looks. Personally, I think it sounds stupid - to strangle someone and burn them in the trunk of your car. VIN number? Hello? I can't believe anyone would be that stupid, but they just might be. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

Some of you might recall a thread I posted eons ago about considering a change in career. Here's the background: I have an English Lit degree and have, since college, worked mostly as a copy editor for newspapers around the U.S. (following hubby). The past 16 months, I've been a SAHM (housemommy) and have been pining for a new career. Well, I finally did it. I enrolled in the local community college and today took a placement test for math classes so I can get pre-reqs out of the way and pursue a job as: da-da-da-da! A registered nurse! The math placement test I took this a.m. was a hoot, to say the least. The last time I did any thinking involving numbers that didn't include my checkbook, the time or percentages was ... oh ... 1994! Thank you, liberal arts education. So I was darn proud to test well enough to get placed in the "Intermediate Algebra" class. :-D And as if that weren't good enough, I went from the test to the dentist for some major filling repairs. By scheduling the two back-to-back, I was sure not to be too freaked out by one or the other. Algebraic equations, shots in the gums .... hmmm ... Anywho, that's my boring story of accomplishment for the day. I know there are atleast, well, 1.5 of you out there who will read this and know why I bothered posting it. To the rest of y'all ... I couldn't have been more specific in my thread title. Learn to judge a book by its cover. ;-)

Thread: The free day kills me (255 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Coco (498 posts) at 11:06 AM:
i've found that free day can become a viscous cycle. it works differently for everyone. i think you have to look at the free day concept as something that can be molded to fit your needs. just like the rest of the bfl program. it's a good guideline, but no program will work 100% for every individual. i've found that a free meal or two spread out during the week works much better than a whole free day. but, that's just what works for me.

Body for Life Forum Message by shkelly (119 posts) at 11:18 AM:
Well I for one am an advocate of free day. I believe there is some good in it. Now that being said, I think there still needs to be some control over it. I have been reading the 6 finalists blogs and they are VERY good. Russell Pendergrass starting taking free days AFTER his first challenge and lost more weight faster then he had on his challenge. He had a blog awhile back about planning your free day meals just as you would your BFL meals. I am going to post what he says but it will be long so bear with me.. Oh and MaryV, he mentioned this exact post ;) So here is his response.... I have been following many of the comments on Tracker and the Guestbook regarding an inability to control free day eating. MaryV started a dialogue about free days with her 12 December entry entitled: The free day kills me. The BFL support group gave some excellent suggestions as well as sharing with MaryV how they handle the same temptations. Being a convert to the free day concept myself, I thought I’d share my experience and then summarize the advice that MaryV received. I did this last 12-week challenge without taking a free day or a free meal for the entire 12 weeks. Part of the reason for that was an injury in week one set me back and I thought by foregoing the free day I would be able to “catch up”. Another reason was because abstinence was easier for me than temperance, i.e., it is easier for me to forego bad foods altogether than it is for me to control how much of them I eat. At the end of my 12-week Challenge, I decided I would start taking my free day – BUT, I decided I would plan it carefully, prepare for it, and execute the plan without deviation. I started out by allowing myself two bags of Kettle Popcorn, four cookies and two pieces of pizza on my free days. Additionally, on the first free day of the month, I allow myself a pint of Haagen-Daz ice cream – which I nursed all day long. Within two and a half weeks of implementing this plan, I shed an additional 10 lbs. I was amazed. I was so impressed with the results that I purchased a website and put out an ad for taking a free day. You can check it out at www.russpendergrass.com. If executed with temperance, the free day actually helps you lose weight faster. The key is to know yourself – and your weaknesses. I stay away from Oreo cookies and chocolate on my free days. As many of the BFL supporters counseled MaryV, it’s just as important to plan your free day as it is to plan the rest of your meals for the week. Free day is just as much an exercise in self-mastery as the rest of the Body-for-LIFE program. Plan, prepare and execute a temperate free day and you will know you will be able to keep your new Body-for-LIFE - for life. Russ

Body for Life Forum Message by amkazen (212 posts) at 01:10 PM:
Our 1st free day in our 1st challenge back in July 2005 was truly a free day. We ate everything in sight, and then we felt so stuffed and sick afterwards we have not done it since. Our free day currently consists of 1 free meal, and we are sticking to the BFL type of meals the other meals of the day. We just do not have the desire to overeat like we used to. So my advice is try it the way we do. Eat 1 or 2 meals on your free day of what you want but stick to BFL the rest of the time, and see how that works for you. Everyone is different and this may not work for you but it might.

Body for Life Forum Message by Agent 69 (357 posts) at 01:17 PM:
I think everyone goes all out on that very first free day........and it creates a food hangover, or it did for me. I have a free breakfast, a BFL lunch and a free supper worked pretty good for me so far.

Body for Life Forum Message by Flash (762 posts) at 02:37 PM:
Free day works for me. I wouldn't be able to avoid temptation during the rest of the week without it. And opposite to some of you, by the end of free day I'm sick of all that unhealthy food and ready to eat clean again. I guess we're all different and need to figure out how to make BFL work best for each of us!

where do you get orange zest? what area of the store?

Body for Life Forum Message by tigermuscle (313 posts) at 11:00 AM:
ok..if I monkey around with the oats to get it down to about 40 carbs for the "two servings", the protein, fat, and carb ratio is perfect for me as one meal..I felt kind of funny doing it...but I ate both of the "servings"

Body for Life Forum Message by Coco (498 posts) at 11:04 AM:
orange zest is just when you peel the top of the citrus skin. they sell tools called zesters, or even better is a microplane grater.

Body for Life Forum Message by Framed (58 posts) at 08:05 PM:
To get zest...just use your grater and grate the skin of the orange or lemon. The skin has lots of citus oil. It has much more flavor than the orange itself. I have a zester which has the perfect sized holes. I use zest a lot in cooking and baking. I also experimented with pumpkin pie spices (cinnamon and ground giner). Not too bad. I added a slice of apple and a pinch of brown sugar. These "pancakes" are really dense, filling, satisfying yet they are just a perfect portion of protein and carb (the good kind) with no fat. I really feel like I'm indulging.

Body for Life Forum Message by Framed (58 posts) at 08:06 PM:
Oh forgot to mention. On getting the zest, you don't want to go too deep. Just run your grater gently over the top, pulling up the yellow or orange top of the skin but don't go so deep that you are getting the white part underneath.

Crone - just out of curiousity, how will the playing field be evened out if there are different numbers of people on each team?

Body for Life Forum Message by crone (402 posts) at 11:07 AM:
Haven't figured that out yet, but since I'm an accountant, if I can't figure it out no one will. Actually if I could get to more players, it will be even and that's what I'm hoping for

Body for Life Forum Message by goingforbuff (1483 posts) at 11:21 AM:
Yeah, that would be best...less work involved, that's for sure! We were averaging one team at the end of another challenge because a player was MIA (not by her choice), but it would be best and most fair to have even number of players on each team. Maybe there could be a sub list after the teams get evened out. Inevitably, some people will probably drop out and you could replace with subs. also, maybe put out another thread saying how many more people we need to even teams out...you might just get them! Nancy :-)

SAS- I'm just starting creatine too. I'm also not very big so I'm only going to take 2g post workout on weight training days. How much were you going to load? TNT- Thanks for your advice! I am thin, but I do gain fat pretty easily around the abdomen, so I'm reluctant to cut out cardio completely. Isn't it your husband who can eat and eat and eat and not gain an ounce? That's not me! I definitely gain fat if I let my eating get out of control. From what I've read, doing 20 minutes or less of interval training a couple of times a week shouldn't work against me. But any cardio longer than that, wouldn't be a good idea. This is the training program I'm following: http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=51 If nothing else, following a new program after 10 months of BFL-style weight lifting, will shake things up a little.

Yeah, My body needed a NAP earlier and I took it but the entire day I was thinking, "when are you going to workout? You know you HAVE TOO! Yeah that little damn devil that sits on  my shoulder! LOL!

Well I had to wait until my son went to sleep which was 8:15, then I pulled the furniture away from the carpet and put in the 45 min DVD.  This DVD has some funky, butt kicking moved and I love it, almost like dancing and taebo at the same time,,, COOL WORKOUT!

I'll get there! I promise! For myself and to remember Julie, someone that NEVER gave up, no matter how sick she was and here are some of us, just sitting on our rear, being lazy and making excuses.  I was one of them too,,

Well in the memory of Julie Whitt and all the encouragement that she gave me, I can live my life better!

It is well worth it and I am going to buy the rest of her collection just to be able to mix it up from time to time! GOOD LUCK!

Body for Life Forum Message by tigermuscle (313 posts) at 05:16 AM: we did goals..who do you want to inspire in 2006?
Morning!

The goals for 2006 was a very good thread! Got me to thinking..

whether its your very first challenge, or you lost count of how many you completed, who do you hope to inspire with your transformation in 2006?

For me, I hope I inspire all of you, because you inspire the hell out of me! :)

I also hope to inspire my wife and my brother. Ever since I started I've been trying to get her to do this with me..maybe with her lack of energy hitting an all time low, 2006 will be the year.

My brother is 400 pounds. Need I say more?

Hmm I don't know that I have anyone to really inspire other than myself lol. I am taking a bit of a break right now and want to hit it hard when we get back. I don't think I can sit through next week though lol. I am already itchin to get to the gym, which is a good thing. I hope that your wife comes around, and with some love and encouragement I am sure she will. Sometimes our spouses just need to see that we set the example first. Urs

I want to inspire anyone who is sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was there and didnt even realize that there is a different life, full of energy and drive and that each one of us can have it, if we will just work for it.

Funny this thread was posted. Ok sit back this may be a lil long. I ran ibnto a highscholl bud of mine, when we where in school, this guy had the body of a Greek God, He workout hard and was in the best shape anyone could want to be in. ( I am not gay..lol) Well now he is pushing over 300 labs and stands 5'11". After spending a lil time with him, catching up on the past twenty years he saw my copy of Body For LIfe on my coffe table. He asked what it was all about. I pulled out my laptop and showed him my tracker site. His words where "Damn Birdy" He asked me how I did it I told him to take the book home and he did not want to. Well after a few days I spoke to him, he called and asked me what kinds of food should he eat, I told him. Now he has lost 5 lbs and is eating right and drinking tons of water. SO I would have to say my best friend from highschool.

Ok - really I need to inspire myself first cuz I am the typical person who starts a challenge and doesn't finish it, so I have to keep that in mind...but I would also like to inspire my wife. She is in much better shape and health than I am (And she has MS!!), but she struggles with her diet specifically eating enough protein mostly cuz she is mostly a vegitarian and refuses to eat chicken at all or tofu and turkey all the time. I told her that with how much she exercises if she could find a way to up her protein she would see much better results.. to insipre her I will have to lead by example... Joe

I just want to be an encouragement to everyone. I think maybe moms in particular who think that their pre-baby body is gone forever. I want to prove to those people that you can be in even BETTER shape after you have kids then before. That is my goal for this next challenge. Also, my mom. She has been overweight almost her whole life and I would love to keep her around for a LONG time!! Shelly =)

It would have to be my wife... Her health is failing rapidly due to CF (Cystic Fibrosis) and will require a double lung transplant in the near future. However, before she can go through this challenging proceedure (as we all know), she will have to gain weight and be in good physical shape... She looks at me and sees how BFL is just the vehicle she needs to prepare herself for this journey. She has already asked me to set up a workout program for her and she wants to start her C1 the same day I start my C2 on Jan. 23. -Ed-

I want to inspire myself. That does sound selfish, but I think it is an important example for my children to see me love who I am...Insecurity is a huge issue with kids and for me to be okay with striving to be my best, it can only be good for them. Plus it gets us out of the house, exploring, being active and away from the TV and computer!

Thread: Last meal? (150 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by Strong Mind (13 posts) at 05:39 AM: Last meal?
What does everyone eat for their last meal of the day? The reason I ask is I read the EFL and BFL books and the sample of what people eat in their last meal was a protein drink. Now is that the reason why you dont want that many carbs for your last meal because when you wake up and do your hard cardio you start burning fat first? Help me PLEEEEASE Thanx

Body for Life Forum Message by Kerry (955 posts) at 05:44 AM:
I hink something to do with carbs not being used much while you sleep, excess carbs will be stored as fat. Kerry

Body for Life Forum Message by Agent 69 (357 posts) at 08:02 AM:
I found around week 9 or 10....I just wasn't needing that 6th meal to get me through the night......I wasn't getting hungry during the night like I had weeks 1 through about 6. So, I just started having meal 5 around 7:30-8:00 instead of 6:00-6:30....and I only have a protein and a vegetable, no carb.

Body for Life Forum Message by Agent 69 (357 posts) at 08:03 AM:
but, when I did have a 6th meal.....it was cottage cheese

Body for Life Forum Message by Jame (11 posts) at 08:27 AM:
aren't all 6 meals supposed to be a protein AND a carb?

Body for Life Forum Message by Goddessa (2092 posts) at 08:31 AM:
Jame alot of people tend to skip the carbs in the last meal. It certainly wouldn't be wrong to have a carb in your last meal its just a matter of preference. I usually do a protein shake as my last meal before bed :D

Body for Life Forum Message by Jame (11 posts) at 08:37 AM:
what is the reason though? i thought your body didn't use the protein properly unless there was a carb to go with it??

Body for Life Forum Message by chuckdiesel99 (788 posts) at 08:38 AM:
Cottage cheese is an excellent choice before bed because of the casein protein. Whey protein would be the last thing you want to take before bed because it digests so fast. You want a slow digesting protein. Kerry explained the reason for no carbs before bed quite nicely.

Body for Life Forum Message by Flash (762 posts) at 09:09 AM:
I usually eat cottage cheese an apple. It's not a lot of calories and the casein proteing and fiber in the apple help carry me through the night so I don't wake up quite as hungry.

Body for Life Forum Message by Joe (a.k.a. Onyx) (95 posts) at 01:27 PM:
I usally eat a small apple with natural Peanut butter or, just cottage cheese. But latley I have found that I am not hungry for that last meal..and I don't wake up hungry. I thnk that means my body is happy with the five meals beforehand?

Thread: Cold morning for Florida (82 Views)

Body for Life Forum Message by joninstpete (139 posts) at 07:27 AM: Cold morning for Florida
Cardio day, I hit it and hit good. It was a cold morning for Florida..mid 40’s, I so did not want to get out of bed. I guess a lot of other people did not as well, the gym had half the normal amount of people in it this morning. No that alone pumped me up. Knowing that I made it to the gym, this caused me to push myself a lil harder, what a great feeling it is to know that I went hard and further today. I hope you all have an awesome day... Jon

Body for Life Forum Message by BIG BULL (777 posts) at 07:54 AM: Can BB come back???.........................
Hey gang..........

I NEED to come back, but have found myself to really be struggling as of late.  It must be being 42 and at a strange crossroads of life.  I was very disheartened by the Tracker-troubles and didn't have the energy to deal with it.  I happened to jump on yesterday and Nancy caught me and PM'd me.  So here I am!

I saw the news about Julie and I am really sad and shaken about that.  She was one of a few people who personally emailed me when I finished C1 back in May.  What a sweet, sweet person and an inspiration!

I did actually start lifting again last week, but it was "half-hearted" and not "ALL-IN" as we used to say.  So...........Can BB come back???  Will you have me? Can 2006 be even better than ever?

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2006 to you and yours...

I'm SO glad you're back!!! Thank you. Yes, the news of Julie's death was a shock but. . .she wouldn't have let tracker-troubles deter her!! She would have risen above them and not let anyone or anything interfere with her desire to be fit and healthy. We shouldn't let other people distract us either (I think quite a few of us feel we've been through the tracker wringer). With positive energy, we can get back to the way tracker should be--and it's GREAT to have you back again. Yes, BB, I'm ALL IN!!! Welcome back!! Love, Persephone
