Hey OCPanther65,
Saw your post. I purchased my Jack Lallane Power Juicer about three years ago. Should you happen to see my photos you'll probably be able to guess that I haven't used it in some time.
My Jack Lallane Juicer continues to live up to the claims represented in those infomercials. The motor is strong as heck. The mouth is large which allows me to feed, get this:
whole apples, large cantalope, pineapple and watermelon slices-rind and all, whole pears, celery, carrots, cucumbers, radishes(leaves and all), trust me, I can go on and on. A word of warning- Unlike unjuiced fruits and vegetables and vitamins, fresh juiced bverages make a b-line right to your cells. The first time I used it I went a little nuts(putting in squash, garlic, whole oranges, beets, etc(Yes, whole oranges. This juicer is no joke!)A swig of my impromptu concoction put me in an immediate state of overdose. My head was swirling. I had to sit down and sip water for several minutes. I have since learned how to blend more compatible combinations of of Gods' food. One last thing: It is not advisable to juice whole apples because the seeds contain trace amounts of cyanide(I'm sure I didn't spell that right). The only downside to juicing is the subsequent extraction of fiber content.

I know there is alot of info on this site, but for me, I haven't been more satisfied with "feed back" like this in quite some time.
I haven't taken any supplements ever other than protein and thats going way back probably 8 - 10 months ago; I was wingin' it, going alone so didn't really pay much attention to this stuff.
Again, thanks for the info!

I love white chocolate chunk macademia nut cookies, followed by cranberry oatmeal cookies. I'm not a real big cookie person when it comes to eating them, but I LOVE to bake them. At this moment right now, I've got a batch of cranberry oatmeal cookies in the oven. I'm baking up a ton of goodies to bring into the nursing unit for those who have to work on Christmas Eve (such as myself!).

Well call me a scrooge too, but I wouldn't give up my time either! It would be different if it were someone who has missed a lot of work due to an illness. I had a co-worker once that had a heart problem, had been in and out of the hospital with complications. She ran out of vacation time, nor could she take medical leave. A lot of us wanted to know if we could donate our time to her, but our HR wouldn't allow it. I'd definitely have a problem giving up my time to someone who didn't try to save any vacation/sick time.

Hey Von, like I said earlier I don't doubt you but people can never be too cautious in situations like these. First of all some scam artist could come on tracker and get a profile with an annonymous e-mail and a take some picture of a couple from another site or blog. Post a couple of posts to gain trust, borrow some cash and then vanish. Crazier things have happened and I think thats why some are skeptical. For anyone interested in an investment like this you should definetly do your homework, ask for multiple pictures to make sure its the real people, speak with them on the phone, have them mail you a proof of address (copy of a bill), and speak with the company that is paying the $500,000. You could also get a photocopy of the persons ID. Sounds extreme but we aren't talking twenty buck here. Good luck to you Von and hopefully all works out for you.

But I was always told not to sign contracts that require you to give up money to receive money. But like I said I don't now the type of contract that you have. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. It's human nature to jump at something where you can get a big return for little or no effort other than to put up a little money. If vonkarolinas is on the up and up, it's still his problem since he ruined his own credit, and apparently has no friends who have sufficient faith to help him. To me it makes zero sense that someone would be willing to pay $500,000 for a script but unwilling to deduct the registration fees from the deal. But, I know nothing about the film industry either.
Body for Life Forum Message by vonkarolinas (80 posts) at 06:23 PM
Crone, that is where it gets sketchy. There was no mention of money in the contract other than what I would be paid.
Michiganmike. I don't know what makes it apparent that I have no friends with faith in me. They have faith in me plenty. If you had read ALL the posts you would know my friends DID try to help me. Nice attempt to make me look bad, but it failed.

Von, I wasn't trying to make you look bad. I saw what you wrote earlier, once people started asking questions. But, still, it just doesn't make sense. Your Family can't help? Friends can't help? People who want to give you $500,000 won't help? No credit? How do you have any faith that the people who claim they'll pay you $500,000 will do that if they won't bother to advance the filing fees? I's all just weird!
Body for Life Forum Message by onetallmama (26 posts) at 09:34 PM

Ok, Mike. That's cool. As for the faith the people will pay me the $500,000. It's not so much faith as it is a legally binding contract.
Mama, I'll check it out. But the company wanting the money isn't the same one my contract is with. Plus, I've talked to the Japanese buyers over the phone. And for the record, they called me at their own expense.

I am finding that it's very difficult to influence someone who isn't ready. My sister constantly complains about being overweight and I tried to help her do BFL...but from the very first she was changing things..ie doing weight lifting and cardio on the same days, still eating junk food here and there, and alcohol. Every time I asked her how she was doing, she got defensive. I don't know if she'll ever "get it" but I hope that one day she will see the changes in me and my hubby and decide to stick to it. So my advise to you...light positive reinforcement

Sorry Willowgerl the fact that Titus was having an affair with her is not the story. She was their roommate just wanted to clear that one up. It seems that there is a strong possibility that their roommate had committed identity theft with Ryan's name. Titus is known for a fit of rage when things happen. It might have gotten out of control. Now this is speculation and could be totally wrong. But this is the one that is strongly circulating behind the scenes. Yes Ryan is just wanted as an accessory. We will never know the story until they are caught. If you want to see the official papers for their arrest it is on www.getbig.com
My friend is or was good friends with Ryan. Yes this is difficult for her to take too. But as her husband said Murder is Murder that aint cool!

Yes, I am not gonna play coy here. I have found out a lot of stuff about behind the scenes in the Fitness/Bodybuilding industry that does not shock me but I know would shock a whole lotta people. I have just promised I would not divulge any of the gory details and about who. I know evil of me huh. Remember things are not always what they seem. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of GOOD people in this industry too but, they seem to go unnoticed funny huh! We are not interesting enough LOL.
I guess what I am trying to say is I know a lot of you ladies looked up to Kelly. And I know as this story unfolds it's gonna be like E! True Hollywood Story. Would not be surprised if one is not made about this. But the fact is this is a terrible crime that involves a fitness hero to many. Don't let this diminish what you think of fitness or this sport. This sport already has a lot of bad names because of well *Drugs* and well what is topic of conversation these days. Don't let this be the proof of how it all is. I don't know why I felt to say this.

New things that have been uncovered in the investigation. Click on the "Two Bodybuilders on the Run - New Details" video link.
TNT - you raise some good points here. For people brought into the world of BBing through such relatively* wholesome route (Bill Phillips,) learning some things can have a disillusioning affect. It's tough, but you (you as in 'all of us' not you personally) have to broaden your mind and realize that not everyone you meet who classifies themselves as a 'body builder' or 'fitness professional' is someone you're going to be inspired to look up to. And when you've done nothing in your fitness history so far but be inspired by people like Bill Phillips or Shawn Phillips that's a shock to the system. There are lots of respectable people in this industry, but you can't just assume that because a person lifts weights, or eats egg whites that they live a healthy lifestyle. Sorry if that sounds obvious. I only say that because I went through my own period of disillusionment. Sounds silly, but that's what I thought. :)
(*I say 'relatively' because I realize Phillips was also a gear head back in the day, although he's since renounced the use of steroids)
Body for Life Forum Message by willowgerl (219 posts) at 09:51 AM
BFLmom - they are known to have an 'open' relationship, whatever that means.
Not that that's a crime necessarily, but it certainly adds to the motive in this particular situation.

I never cared for either of those two. Craig Titus has always struck me as someone with a temper. We've seen him in many, many competitions and around Vegas. He's always appeared to be someone with a short fuse. And Kelly Ryan has never been one of my favorite fitness icons. I remember when she started in fitness/figure and didn't care much for her. When those two got together, I thought what a perfect match...LOL. I'm more into ladies like Mia Finnegan, Monica Brant, etc. I will say Kelly's always had the MOST amazing fitness routines and is enjoyable to watch, but the one time we ran into her on the streets of Vegas, she wasn't very open to her admirers (or so it appeared....she could have been having a bad day, in a hurry, etc).
It will be interesting to see how this story turns out. I didn't watch the video but read over the stories. What a shame that the world of figure/fitness/bodybuilding is being thrust into the public eye because of something like this. Please keep us updated on any new information as it happens!

You could not have said it any better! So true! It is nice that we do have this type of Program by BP that does show the good in this industry. But where there is good there is evil. I think the only reason I don't find any of this stuff shocking is because I have worked in the modeling business and entertainment industry. I have known a lot of BBer's along the way to and well I had an insight to the wackiness that goes on. There should be a saying called Sex, Drugs, & Bodybuilding. But had I not encountered (not a part of some of these wacky activities) and witnessed in my younger years I would be jaw to the ground floored. Because they exude health and happiness blahhh blahhhh.
It is just a sad situation and yes another sad situation because her ewe go Bodybuilding in the headlines again in the worst possible way.
Body for Life Forum Message by GetNFit (727 posts) at 11:39 AM
The sad truth to all of this is that peoples lives are devistated and changed forever. The young woman killed is gone from her family forever. Her family and friends will forever have this void. Craig and Kelly's (whether innocent or guilty) lives have been changed due to the alligations, and in the event this is true, it is devistating for them to throw away their entire lives in one single moment, and in one single event, not to mention it changes the lives of everyone they know. The young man who is already in custody. 23 years old and sitting in jail. It's sad.
This is not a television show nor should it be deemed as entertainment for the fitness community. It's sad and we should all be praying for the lives of everyone involved to be restored.

Oh no I don't find it entertaining. I find it incredibly terrible but they are pretty much celebrities that had a very questionable life-style. It is very sad that the girl became a victim of it. Even if she choose to be around Ryan and Titus and even if she did engage in there activities with them. Even if she did steal from them. No one deserves to die. I can't imagine what the mother of this girl is going through. It is very sad and very shameful in so many ways.
I don't really see people using it as entertainment here. Looks as if we are debating the whole thing. Trust me you want to see people using it for entertainment. Go to some of the serious Bodybuilding forums. Holy Crap they are being brutal! Trust me this is compassionate banter compared. Whoa!
Ok I gotta go I have a busy day today. I guess we will see how this story unravels.
Body for Life Forum Message by michiganmike (186 posts) at 12:15 PM
It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. Clearly, though, both Ms. Ryan and Mr. Titus have some serious legal problems coming up. While it is true, as some have observed, that police make mistakes--you just have to say this is not one of those situations. They obviously have phone call evidence linking Gross and Titus to something going on in the early morning hours when the Jag was burned. clearly the woman was murdered. She had a ligature around her neck and died of asphyxiation per the autopsy. Can they prove Titus or Ryan did it? In every state in the union, flight or concealment are evidence of guilt. In this case, they have both. They attempted to get rid of the body and destroy all evidence of the crime, and they have fled. The only thing left to figure out is whether Titus will somehow blame Ryan for the killing when they are caught.

Makes you go geee what a team huh? All in all this does not look good from any way you look at it. The poor girl and her family. Titus and Ryan get to go to Greece and the mother gets to plan and go to her daughters funeral. It is a tragedy.

CNN couldn't care less, unless it was about Arnold! Bodybuilding and bodybuilders is such a sleazy outfit that they don't pay much attention to it at all. This year at the Arnold in Columbus several bodybuilders were served with subpoenas by federal people due to steroids and growth hormone issues, but there was little or no news about it in the big media.

It irks the heck out of me that BB competitions look the other way when it comes to steriod use. If I ever get to the point of doing a show, I will only do "NATURAL ONLY" competitions. I will not stoop to that level and use something that is considered illegal. I also don't want to look like a man. LOL!!! I totally don't think it is a fair playing field.

For one I have been around people who use roids they are not fun. I had a boyfriend who used them and omg he was a freak on them. Yea I have seen enough to know better. And oh yea I do have some brain cells left over from my youth to make me go hell no. So oh yea Stef I am with ya ALL NATURAL BABY!
Oh yes not to mention I like the fact that I look like a woman! I also like the fact that I have female parts, and don't have to shave my face amongst all the other areas that I already shave. Geez could you imagine one more area to shave no way LOL. Not to mention the whole voice thing YUK....

Doing a little research on Titus, I found this interesting quote from a Bodybuildingdotcom article: "For instance, the supplement company EAS used bodybuilding to get filthy rich and build their foundation, then they turned their backs on the sport and no longer sponsor the very industry that made them rich; that's foul!" He also said that if he wasn't a bodybuilder he would like to be a fighter, and he praised Kelly for "completing" him, saying that she was always stable and steady while he tended to be upset and short a lot. Hey, Tigermuscle, you sound like kmachate the way you throw that "ultra conservative" tagline around! Personally, I think that labels like that are pretty meaningless. They only tell us what you hate, not what you know!:)

REVIEW-JOURNAL
Las Vegas bodybuilders Kelly Ryan and her husband, Craig Titus, pose at the Mandalay Bay hotel in October 2002.
REVIEW-JOURNAL
Anthony Gross
Arrested on charges of being an accomplice in the slaying of Melissa James
A week before Craig Titus and his wife, Kelly Ryan, became fugitives, the professional bodybuilders met with Las Vegas homicide detectives about the dead woman who was found in Ryan's burned 2003 Jaguar.
Titus, 40, admitted to secretly having an affair with 28-year-old Melissa James, whose body was found in the trunk of the car. Titus and Ryan, 33, said James was their live-in personal assistant. They said that they had recently evicted her for embezzling from them, but that they had not filed a police complaint.
Both told investigators that James had stolen Ryan's car, though they did not report the theft to police.
Titus and Ryan made those comments Dec. 14, hours after James' body was discovered in the torched Jaguar off state Route 160, according to an arrest warrant filed in Las Vegas Justice Court. The warrant was issued for 23-year-old Anthony Gross, an alleged accomplice in the slaying. Gross is in custody.
But Titus and Ryan were set free after their interrogation because of a lack of evidence, and authorities presume the two have since fled, possibly to Greece.
Titus and Ryan have since been charged with murder and third-degree arson.
Maura James, who on Thursday marked her 51st birthday by remembering her daughter with relatives in Florida, said she hopes the fugitives will soon be caught.
"I find it hard to believe they had anything to do with it because she trusted them as friends," she said. "I was shocked. I never imagined they'd be capable of doing anything like this."
Witnesses told police that Titus had said he would flee to a country that would not extradite him.
Las Vegas police Lt. Tom Monahan said Titus "mentioned that he has been to prison and has no intention of going back."
Titus was convicted of conspiring to possess and sell Ecstasy and served a couple of years in prison in the late 1990s after he tested positive for steroids.
Las Vegas police say that Titus killed Melissa James and that Ryan and Gross helped dispose of her body.
Ryan told police that after discovering funds missing from her accounts, she kicked James out of her $470,000 southwest Las Vegas home. The eviction came Dec. 13, a day before James' body turned up in the remote desert.
James packed a suitcase and Ryan, a former Ms. Fitness America, dropped her off at a convenience store, Ryan told police.
But Ryan and Titus contradicted each other when police asked them separately which vehicle Ryan had used to take James to the store.
"Ryan told detectives she used her Jaguar to take James to the convenience store," a police officer wrote in the report. "Titus said she used his silver Dodge truck."
Maura James, who lives in New Jersey, said she last spoke with her daughter about 11:30 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on Dec. 13. During the brief cell phone conversation, Melissa James said she was eating at a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant.
Maura James heard her daughter ask someone what they wanted to eat. She asked her daughter whom she was with, but the question went unanswered.
A short time later, Melissa James wrapped up the call and said she would call back after lunch.
She never called back and never answered her mother's follow-up calls.
The next day, a Wednesday, Maura James went to the Newark airport before 9 a.m. She was scheduled to pick up her daughter, who was coming home for Christmas. She said her daughter was also considering moving home to New Jersey.
Melissa James' flight arrived, but she wasn't on it. Maura James called her cell phone and left messages. Airport officials issued a page over a public address system. Maura James eventually returned home alone.
She later called Titus' cell phone several times and left messages.
"I thought she had been in an accident or something," she said. "I started calling hospitals in Las Vegas. Nobody had her.
"Thursday night is when I got the call from the coroner. ... She had been strangled."
Maura James said her daughter never mentioned being romantically involved with Titus, who married Ryan in Clark County in June 2000. Melissa James, who was a model and former dance instructor, had lived with the bodybuilders in Southern California several years ago.
Titus asked Melissa James to move to Las Vegas about two months ago, and she accepted, her mother said.
In the days before her death, James told her mother that she and Ryan were not getting along. She said she was staying at a hotel.
"I said, 'Why?' She said, 'Well, Kelly is flipping out and acting crazy,'•" Maura James said.
Titus booked the hotel room for two nights, from Dec. 12 to Dec. 14, and paid for it with a credit card belonging to Emperor Enterprises, a company he and Ryan own, according to police.
"He said he had spent most of one night with James at her room," investigators said in the report, quoting Titus.
Titus also paid for James' plane ticket home, her mother said.
On Dec. 16, two days after James' body was recovered, Amanda Polk, a young bodybuilder who had moved to Las Vegas to train with Ryan, contacted police with a tip. Polk met with investigators the next day and told them that she had received a phone call from Titus on Dec. 15 "saying he was in a bad situation (and) needed to get out of town for a while," police said.
Titus and Ryan went to the home of Polk and her boyfriend later that evening. Ryan hugged Polk and said someone had found her Jaguar burned with a body inside. During a car ride to dinner, Ryan confided in Polk, she told police.
"Ryan proceeded to tell Polk she had found their roommate, Melissa, dead in her room from an overdose," police said. "Polk said Ryan told her Melissa had been dead for a few hours and couldn't describe what she looked like because it would traumatize Polk for life. Polk said Ryan proceeded to tell her" that her life was ruined "because she bought seven bottles of lighter fluid at Wal-Mart with her credit card" at 3:30 a.m.
Investigators say Polk confronted Ryan and asked her why she hadn't called police when she found the body.
"Ryan responded by saying Craig told her, 'No body, no crime,'•" police wrote in the report. "Ryan told Polk she just did what Titus told her to do, that she thought Titus got someone to get rid of Melissa and she didn't kill anyone."
Police say Titus met with business partner Gregory Ruiz at a Subway restaurant in the Las Vegas Valley on the morning of Dec. 17.
"Titus told Ruiz he had to leave the country," an investigator wrote, adding that Titus had traded in his Dodge Viper truck for a new vehicle and intended to meet a friend in Boston to liquidate his assets.
Police obtained cell phone records that showed Titus called Anthony Gross in the early morning of Dec. 14.
Gross told investigators that he left his apartment in pajamas, filled up a can with gas and drove west on Blue Diamond Road until he saw flashing headlights from a Jaguar.
He told police that he pulled up beside the Jaguar, rolled down his window and handed Titus a metal gas can. He said he did not know what Titus did with the gas can and, though he gave Titus a lift back into town, the two never discussed what had happened.
On Dec. 14, before 5 a.m., a trucker saw the Jaguar ablaze. In the trunk, authorities found a body with white fabric around its neck and duct tape across the face.
An autopsy revealed that James had likely died from asphyxiation.
Police used the license plate on the car to trace the vehicle back to Ryan.
"I think they had hoped the fire would completely consume the car so that it would be unidentifiable," Monahan said.
On Wednesday, however, Titus and Ryan -- who have been on the covers of bodybuilding magazines -- were being identified on television news broadcasts as murder suspects.
Neighbors recalled Thursday that Titus and Ryan often had visitors, some driving flashy cars -- Ferraris or Mercedes. One neighbor described Titus as friendly, adding that his physique was noticeably smaller these days.
Titus, who graduated high school at 140 pounds, has often competed in the 250-pound range or more.
Police say he is now down to about 225 pounds.
A neighbor who did not want to be identified because Titus remained on the loose, said he had noticed another change in the man: "He's smoking. Before, he was not smoking."
Monahan said police have evidence suggesting that Titus' loss of size was causing him to lose sponsorship contracts.
Maura James, meanwhile, recalled something her daughter had once mentioned about Titus, Ryan and steroids.
"She told me that since he was getting older, he was not going to be competing as much," James said. "She used to tell me, 'Yeah, they took them when they were getting ready for competitions. And they would go to the doctor quite a bit for checking organs and things like that.'•"
Monahan said he believes authorities will find Titus and Ryan sooner or later, in part because of their high profiles and flamboyance.
Their capture might bring a measure of consolation to a grieving mother.
"You know what's so hard?" James said. "They burned my daughter so that we can't even see her again before we bury her. She is so sweet. She is so sweet and beautiful. I can't imagine anybody doing that to her."
Review-Journal writers Brian Haynes and Carri Geer Thevenot contributed to this report.

uhh, PMs...they still work, right? last time around wasn't much fun for anyone.
Getting back to the subject at hand, I just read some articles on this and I feel for Melissa and her family. I have not seen much info on her that would lead me to believe she was something other than a true innocent victim here, meaning not a druggie, not a thief, etc., etc., although Kelly told the police she had embezzelled money from them. So far, I just don't see Melissa as anything but having gotten involved with the wrong people.

Supa K,
You are going to love being a nurse. I think you have a good personality and attitude to be an excellent RN. I love my job, even on the days when I lose patients. I just spent today making rounds on some patients I've had over the past few weeks and was sad to learn one of them is being taken off life support today. His wife and I became really close and it's especially hard because the first day I had him as a patient, he wasn't even intubated and on a vent. It's a good decision as he's got one of the sickest hearts I've seen in my short career, but still a hard decision for the wife to make. I spent 15-20 minutes crying with her today and saying goodbye to him.
I also made a trip over to the other unit where I work (we have a med-surg ICU and a trauma ICU) to visit with an OD patient who doesn't have anyone left to go home to after her mother died up on our oncology floor during her stay in my unit. I spent some time with her, trying to lift up her spirits, brought her a card and some flowers, and just kept her company, something she is starved for. It takes a lot out of me, but when I see the smile on the faces of my patients or their families, it's well worth it.
One of the most heart warming stories recently is that of a patient who was attacked by her boyfriend with a 2ft sword. He almost cut her hands off and gave her some extremely deep wounds in her legs and abdomen. She's been in our unit for 2 months and now is up on the general medical floor. She came by yesterday, walking! It was a miracle to see her because she was extremely critical when I had her and they were concerned she was going to lose her hands. She has movement back in both her hands and her wounds are healing up wonderfully. She's just got some slight issues with her liver (it was lacerated from one of the stab wounds) but they are taking care of that. I'm going by to see her tomorrow and bring her some Christmas goodies.
Those are just some of the stories that make my job worth the 12+ shifts (I am frequently there past 12 hours) and the physical demands the job requires. It's all worth it and I love every minute of it. I'm still new and learning everyday, but that's another aspect of the job I love. I have to keep up my continuing education credits each year and have to maintain so many hours of trauma classes per year as well. It's a job that requires you to constantly learn and I love that.
Good luck on your venture!!! I will be heading back to school to get my BSN in the Fall and then after that, slowly work on my Master's so that I can someday be a nursing instructor (when my rheumatoid arthritis prevents me from working bedside nursing). I plan on staying in the ICU for about 10 years and then possibly becoming a travel nurse. Taking assignments in San Diego, Hawaii, and San Francisco sounds amazing and they pay for your housing, etc. When my hubbie retires at 48, if I'm still able to do bedside nursing, he will travel with me and play golf....ROFL!!!!!
If you ever have any questions, feel free to PM or I can give you my private email and we can keep in touch that way.

Melanie -- those are fantastic stories, thank you so much for sharing. I have to say, when I first mentioned on here that I was considering nursing, you were one of the people who really inspired me. I had you in mind when I finally took the leap. So thanks so much! I hope I can make you proud.
BNM2006 -- Congratulations to you, too! The test I took was just so I could get into the pre-req classes, but yes, fractions and algebra, mostly. I had to fight the urge to giggle at my stupidity while I was taking it. I'll be going to Salt Lake Community College. I have a bachelor's in English from a private 4-year college in Nebraska, but don't have the pre-req's needed for nursing school. So, I'm doing that now, then will apply to the nursing program in a year or year and a half.

On their wedding night, the young bride approached her new husband
and asked for $20.00 for their first lovemaking encounter. In his highly
aroused state, her husband readily agreed. This scenario was repeated each
time they made love, for more than 30 years, with him thinking that it was a
cute way for her to afford new clothes and other incidentals that she needed.
Arriving home around noon one day, she was surprised to find her
husband in a very drunken state. During the next few minutes, he explained that
his employer was going through a process of corporate downsizing, and he
had been let go. It was unlikely that, at the age of 59, he'd be able to
find another position that paid anywhere near what he'd been earning, and
therefore, they were financially ruined.
Calmly, his wife handed him a bank book which showed more than thirty
years of steady deposits and interest totaling nearly $1 million. Then she
showed him certificates of deposits issued by the bank which were worth over
$2 million, and informed him that they were one of the largest
depositors in the bank. She explained that for the more than three decades she had
"charged" him for sex, these holdings had multiplied and these were
the results of her savings and investments.
Faced with evidence of cash and investments worth over $3 million,
her husband was so astounded he could barely speak, but finally he found
his voice and blurted out, "If I'd had any idea what you were doing, I
would have given you all my business!"
...
That's when she shot him.
You know, sometimes men just don't know when to keep their mouths shut.

The History of The 12 Days Of Christmas
There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world
does leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge
who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to
practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a
catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface
meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could
remember.
The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke &John.
The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the
Old Testament.
The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy
Spirit-Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit - Love, Joy,
Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.
The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the
Apostles' Creed.
So that's your history for today. May God grant you peace and happiness
throughout this Christmas Season

REMEMBER THIS AT CHRISTMAS TIME
According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December. Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.
Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.
We should've known... ONLY women would be able to drag a fat-ass man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

You go girl.... SOMEBODY'S RAISING THEIR KID RIGHT! One Nation, "Under God".
One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom. The teacher was going to explain evolution to the children. The teacher asked a little boy: Tommy do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Tommy, do you see the grass outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.
TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.
TEACHER: Did you see God up there?
TOMMY: No.
TEACHER: That's my point. We can't see God because he isn't there. Possibly he just doesn't exist.
A little girl spoke up and wanted to ask the boy some questions.
The teacher agreed and the little girl asked the boy: Tommy, do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy do you see the grass outside?

I want to shoot the toy people who decided assembly required toys should be sold. These directions (pictures because there are no words)are so obsure, it will take me beyond christmas to figure them out. Nevermind I had the darn thing since July.
Body for Life Forum Message by Agent 69 (385 posts) at 02:30 PM
oh my, I remember those days. The tricycle we put together for my son's 3rd christmas.....he rode it 1/2 way down the driveway & the tire fell off.
I think I have it on video, somewhere
Body for Life Forum Message by amkazen (242 posts) at 02:32 PM
What kind of toy is it? Maybe someone here has the same thing or already assembled it and can help. But, I am with you...they need better instructions because when us men FINALLY decide we should read the instructions, it would be nice to have some decent ones to read.. Hey, maybe us men caused this whole problem to begin with because since everyone knows men do not read instructions the toy makers and others decided to not spend money in the instruction booklet department! Wow, it always is a man's fault, isn't it?? :):)

Thanks everyone, but I'm just getting worse. I have been working 15 hour days a couple of days a week, and those are usually my really bad days. Bobby and I have resigned to taking the whole week off because he's fessed up that he's been having cookies, candy, chile, pizza, etc, etc too. I'm ready for Christmas to get over with, but in the meantime I'm blowing up like a hot air balloon for the Macy's Day Parade!
Body for Life Forum Message by iceskater (317 posts) at 03:00 PM
Only a few more days and the holidays will be over with, thank goodness!!! :) I'm sure you'll be back on track in no time, and bounce right back.
I know I have been more crabby the last few days by not being on an eating "schedule". I can't believe what a difference it does make!
Body for Life Forum Message by amkazen (242 posts) at 03:14 PM
It has been hard here for me lately also. SO, I just nibble, vs. eating a whole bunch. I have found doing that helps satisfy my urge to eat everything in sight. So, when the popcorn tin was out there with that caramel popcorn, it was one piece of caramel corn, not a handful or bowlful. I think I ate maybe 6 pieces of popcorn. When the cheesecake was there, I ate a fraction of a slice, and I mean a fraction, a one bite size. And, I am not beating myself up about it. I have done that in the past when trying to lose weight, pre-BFL, and that only served to make me more depressed and upset that I was not staying true, so I ate more, and it was vicious cycle. Not this time so I think the little nibbles are working. And, remember, just one bad meal or snack will not ruin the entire day!

It's OK! Don't be to harsh on yourself. This esp. is a very hard month. My mom lost it too with her "Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory" style Office. Honestly OMG you would have to be a saint to survive Christmas office gorging. Just remember you are alright. Hey at least your still working out! Look at how well you are doing. Just get through Christmas and hop back on or howevery you want to plan it out. Guess what and I know you already know this. "It happens to all of us". So take care and don't beat yourself up! ;-)

I went to my OB/GYN (sorry guys) this week because we are off of school (I'm a teacher.) and as I walked to the back I told people in the hall hi.
Background info: I had twins in 2002 and I never stop talking so these people knew me very well. I missed my last appointment so it was December 2003 since they saw me.
Well, after I went into my room to await the inevitable, one of the nurses I passed in the hall came into the room and said "Debbie, is that you?" Of course I said yes and she began this hoorah about how different I looked and what had I done and how she didn't recognize me... I was grinning from ear to ear and I told her about Body for life and she said "You too????"
More background: When I met this Dr. for the first time in 2001 we had just moved to the area and he was recommended by some friends. I went for a consultation and I asked him if he knew about BFL, because I had just finished a challenge with great results a few months before. He said he followed the BFL lifestyle and was in better shape than he had been in High School. I obviously decided he would be my doctor and found out that day that I was expecting. (a few weeks later we realized it was twins)
ok back to my story. The nurse says that the Dr. talks about his HIIT cardio and his protein shakes, etc. I told her that it does work and she said "Obviously, look at you!!"
I later looked at my chart and realized that I had lost over 40 pounds and went from a size 14 to a size 4 since she had last seen me!!! No wonder.
Thanks for listening - It was a first for me and it was exciting.

I know quite a few of the BFL trackers are planning on starting a new challenge come January 2...but why wait??
Think of how much progress you've all made, and just because it's the holidays, let's not go backwards!! Think of how you'll feel if you go off your BFL eating and working out routines for a couple days, or weeks, come January 2, it's going to take a few days or weeks to get to where you are now! I know how I feel after even one Free Day when I'm a little out of control, so I definately do NOT want to start off a new year with ANY regrets!!!
I propose that everyone continue doing BFL through the holiday season - Christmas is SUNDAY....there's your FREE DAY but just don't abuse it and you'll feel so much better for it...!!!
I've lost so much time back in September when I got really sick, I don't want to move backwards ANYMORE, so I'm staying on BFL right through the new year...WHO'S WITH ME???
Body for Life Forum Message by Go4steffie (768 posts) at 07:15 AM
Reenie~ I think your attitude is AWESOME!
For me, I have a large extended family and FOUR Christmas dinners starting tonight lasting thru Monday night. I feel that I can make good choices thru these dinners, but won't be 100% clean for sure. I want to enjoy myself with my friends and family and not have to worry so much if the things at the dinners are on my authorized food list. I will not let myself have a 4 day free-for-all, and we will take BFL approved dishes/desserts to each dinner.
For anyone who can stick totally to plan thru the holidays...I TOTALLY APPLAUD YOU!!!! WAY TO GO! I just know that I would like to loosen the reigns a little for the next week and kick it into high gear on Jan 2nd when there are no temptations and my motivation will be sky high. I totally embrace this BFL lifestyle and continue to eat/live this way 10 months after beginning this journey.
Good luck to you in your transformation!!!!
Happy Holidays!!!
Stef :-)

Im certainly going to do the best I can this weekend and next. My wife's birthday is the 26th so Im going to allow myself some cake, and possibly pizza tomorrow but thats it. Plus, my gym is open tomorrow and Christmas!

I am with you. I finished a challenge back in August and fell off the wagon after that. I am in my 3rd week of my 2nd challenge and feeling great. Christmas and New Years eve will be my free days. Luckily I don't have as many events as Stef. Also, my immediate family are all BFLers, so that makes it great.
Merry Christmas,
Linn

I'm there! I've already got all my meals planned through Monday, with a free meal for Christmas Eve and a free meal for Christmas dinner.
All my clothes are getting looser and I'm not willing to give that up for all the Christmas cookies in the world!

We need two people to even out our teams for the January Mini challenge. Is that person you? Do you need extra motivation to kick of the year right? Then this is what you need. We need subs also. Heck if there are enough participants we could form another team. Are you up for the challenge?

WOW.
I had received a gift today from EAS Canada! A kit bag, few magazines, hat, couple of shirts and product samples. And they plan a mini contest of sorts for 2005 Canadian BFL challenge participants. Best of all..... Another DVD collection! So, I'll be able to shorten the waiting list by at least one, as I plan to put this set of dvd's into circulation also. TNT, you are up ( PM me a mailing address) and Joe, AKA ONYX, is next in line.
BTW- I really, really appreciate the positive feedback I have received recently, and the support of votes which have placed me in the monthly top 20. It is very flattering, and totally pumps me up in an unexpected way.
Yours in INSPIRED Health,
Kerry

I make some killer Chocolate Fudge with a hint of peanut butter in it.
My 4 1/2 year old son and I made some last night for Christmas day.
When he was licking the spoon he thought it was the best fudge he has ever eaten in his WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE.
That kid cracks me up.

why limit it to just one? FOOD! All of it! the cakes, the cookies, the pies, the cranberry sauce, the green beans, the turkey, the gravy, the candied sweet potatoes, the mashed potatoes....
but, if I have to limit it to just one item..then for me it is hot egg nogg, and preferably spiked with Capt. Morgans Spice Rum!
