Gains Weight:
Mostly gained at my waist.
Lifestyle (prior to program):
Exercise a little once or twice a week.
Background: 2009 update - I've been in maintenance mode for some time now. I take breaks sometimes from working out, sometimes several weeks, but I haven't gone off the eating plan for that long - a few days at most. And even when I don't work out as in the plan, I'm still active. It's all become a habit now.

Updated 2006 - I started BFL in 2005 because I was sick of feeling tired all the time. I was also spending too much time looking to others for validation. So, I wanted to get fit, and needed a more regimented work out program. I had the BFL book since '98, but never did it b/c I refused to change my diet. Turning 30, and getting the 30 year old body, changed that. I know that is one thing I can control - my fitness level. I chose this program b/c I like the idea of the free day, and also, that it's over in 12 weeks. So, if I really want to never do it again, I have that option. Having that option somehow makes it easier to stick with it! I took a break while I was pregnant, and had my baby in August of 2006, and now I'm ready to go again!
Goals: 2009 update - goals now are to maintain weight, keep on working out and eating right and keep on keeping on. Short-term goals - get stronger - be able to do more chin ups and push-ups. And tighten up the abs.

2005 - I'm not so focused on losing pounds, although if I do, I think I can live with it. :)) I want to lose body fat - perhaps get down to 15% - and want to gain muscle. Basically, I want to be not have a gut hanging over the waist of my jeans, and to not look like a big blob of lumpy flesh in a bikini. Finally, I want to be able to feel good and energetic naturally, without the use of caffeine and sugar.
